So the centenary of Taree Fire Station is a really important milestone, it's very
00:03
significant for the firefighters that are both the current and former
00:07
firefighters and all their families. Also a chance to recognise the contribution
00:11
that the firefighters of Taree have made to the town and the surrounding areas
00:14
for the last hundred years. So it's a pleasure to be able to be here today and
00:18
celebrate that and mark the occasion with them. Taree firefighters over a
00:22
hundred years have attended a wide range of incidents from small house fires
00:27
that have resulted in a loss of life to very significant large-scale events that

work that Taree firefighters have done over that time and so it's a combined

history that we share with the fire station and also the wider Taree community.

community and running a fire station. Today marks our centenary of fire and
01:11
rescue in the community in Taree. To be able to celebrate a hundred years is a
01:16
really significant achievement and it's really good that we're taking the time
01:20
the day to pause and stop and sell. When you think about how much Taree's changed
01:25
and all the things that have happened over the last hundred years, we've been, we, the
01:31
Royal Week, because I wasn't here doing all the work, but the firefighters here at Taree
01:36
have been involved in so many of the big key events and the key parts of Taree's
01:40
history. And so some of the stories in the town's development, the setbacks, the times when we've had...
