00:00So as I conclude, it is with sage leadership and strategic vision and a sense of urgency
00:09that Lee Kuan Yeung turns Singapore into one of the world's great success stories.
00:16Many call it the Singapore Miracle.
00:20That's what common sense policies can achieve.
00:24And that's precisely what President Trump's vision is all about.
00:28President Trump is a leader of peace, a man of peace, a force for peace.
00:37And together, we will achieve that peace through strength, reestablishing deterrence, sharing our burdens,
00:45multiplying our strengths, reinforcing our great alliances, respecting our cultures,
00:51not starting wars, but preventing them, and building a better future for our nations.
00:58For our mutual benefit.
01:02During my last visit to the Indo-Pacific, I watched oil seep out from the wreckage of the USS Arizona at Pearl Harbor.
01:10I saw rows of crosses marking the graves of over 17,000 American soldiers at the Manila American Cemetery in Philippines.
01:17And had a chance to walk the black sand in the beaches of Iwo Jima.
01:24In these other places, you can't help but immediately feel connected to the past.
01:29To the warriors who went before us.
01:32As we mark 80 years since the end of World War II, we owe it to today's warriors, to our citizens.
01:51As we put our citizens first and you put your citizens first, we owe it to them, to our children and our grandchildren, to preserve this peace.
02:03The motto of my first platoon, the first one I led, was those who long for peace must prepare for war.
02:14And that's exactly what we're doing.
02:17We are preparing for war in order to deter war, to achieve peace in return.
02:23And when we look out of this room, we look to you, to our allies and to our partners, to join us in this important work.
02:33Our time is now.
02:35The threats we face will not wait.
02:39And nor can we.
02:41And Godspeed.
