00:06Hegseth was speaking at the Shangri-La Forum in Singapore.
00:09This is Asia's biggest security forum and an event that attracts defense officials,
00:13top military brass, diplomats and others from around the world.
00:17China's delegation was smaller this year and its defense minister Dong Jun was notably absent.
00:22Hegseth said that China's military could pose an imminent danger.
00:26It has to be clear to all that Beijing is credibly preparing to potentially use military force
00:35to alter the balance of power in the Indo-Pacific.
00:38We know it's public that Xi has ordered his military to be capable of invading Taiwan by 2027.
00:46The PLA is building the military needed to do it, training for it every day and rehearsing for the real deal.
00:56Hegseth said any attack on Taiwan would be devastating for the world
01:00and that U.S. allies in Asia should increase their defense spending.
