00:00Hi, Vogue.
00:01You might not recognize me, but this is Salma Hayek.
00:04I'm going to walk you through my routine and tricks.
00:08First, we start with a double whammy,
00:10because you see, I have this mask that I love,
00:14but I do a double whammy because I have the mask.
00:17But underneath, I have these patches from Patchology.
00:25Sometimes I sleep with them,
00:27and I'm under the impression that because they dry,
00:29I don't swell as much because it kind of like,
00:32you know, sticks to it.
00:34And even if I swell everywhere else, it doesn't swell there.
00:37So maybe this is psychological and I'm crazy,
00:40but I like to do it, and I think it works for me at least.
00:44My grandmother taught me not to wash my face in the morning
00:46because then you take off all the good oils
00:49that your skin works so hard all night, you know, to have.
00:52This is the rose water.
00:55God knows what's in here.
00:57The beauty sandwich, of course.
01:01What I do next is I take a really light cream,
01:05and I'm using this one by Charlotte Tillsbury.
01:08It's called Magic Water.
01:12I'm very lucky because I have this grandmother
01:14who was obsessed with beauty and knew all kinds of tricks.
01:18She actually made her own creams.
01:20She told me to do this when you put it,
01:23and then also to put it behind your hands, the leftovers.
01:26And then I'm using this Sisley for the eyes.
01:29I do like this.
01:31Grandmother tip.
01:31She was obsessed with it.
01:32I put it on the lips.
01:33If I'm extra dry, I use this other one,
01:36and I even keep it in my purse.
01:38My lips get really dry.
01:39I try to take really good care of them.
01:41And sometimes, if I feel like I have a lot of, like, little,
01:45and which I do, I use this by La Mer.
01:48It's a treatment.
01:51And when I'm doing movies, I use this other one
01:54that it's like a weird oily thing.
01:57I put it where I have this wrinkle here, you know?
02:02But this you can also put after you put the makeup.
02:05Like, when I'm working and it's like hours of work
02:08and the makeup starts getting cakey or strange,
02:12I put it on top of the makeup,
02:14and it doesn't make it uneven or anything.
02:17I don't know what it does, but it really helps,
02:19especially under the eyes.
02:20Okay, now let's put the makeup on.
02:21I use as a base because, as you can see,
02:26it's with age especially.
02:28The color is not very even, you see?
02:31So I need something that looks natural, but that covers.
02:35That's been very hard for me, also to find the right color.
02:38So what I use, and you cannot see the number
02:40because I've used it so much,
02:42is this beautiful skin foundation.
02:45You will see that it looks pretty natural.
02:50You have to make sure that you put it also
02:53all the way in your neck.
02:55And you know what?
02:56Before I did my old therapy prime,
02:58what I was doing is the skin was rolling off,
03:02all the extra skin was so depressing
03:05to put the creams in the neck and this hanging part,
03:11but now it's a little bit better, less depressing.
03:13You still need to make sure that everything is even.
03:17Now this is natural darkness in my eyes.
03:20I kind of like it.
03:22It was not like that when I was younger,
03:24but I don't try to even it out too much.
03:26I mean, I let it be, you know, I kind of like it.
03:28It's like natural eyeshadow that the years have gifted me.
03:33I'm going to go over the parts.
03:35But you still see all the dots and things and imperfections
03:41because the skin is not even.
03:43This is for like hardcore.
03:45This is the Mario.
03:46I dab it so that it stays in the place.
03:51And then I bring it down.
03:52And I dab it, dab, dab, dab, dab, dab, dab, dab, dab, dab, dab, dab, dab, dab.
03:57When I don't need like that heavy coverage,
04:00which normally I do,
04:02I use this old trick, the two shaker.
04:04I use number three because it's lighter.
04:07With this one, you put it where you just need it.
04:15Looks like I eat chocolate, chocolate shake
04:19while I was drunk or something.
04:21So you let it dry.
04:23And then we're going to go like this.
04:24Let me now do this part.
04:27This is a very natural one.
04:30Merit always is the things that are very natural.
04:32Just put it here.
04:34But if you need, you know,
04:37like an extra kind of punch in specific places,
04:42then I use this Victoria Bacon.
04:47So instead of putting here the dark, which everybody does,
04:51so what I do is actually put it super high.
04:54I'm going to even get it out as I do the eye makeup anyway,
05:02and then I go up.
05:07I do practically all my makeup with my hands.
05:10The warmth also, the fingers help, and I can control it.
05:17I use this thing.
05:18It's this gel, okay?
05:20You have to be careful.
05:21Look at this.
05:22It's like transparent,
05:24but it has little freckles of something.
05:28I put it in,
05:31and then you kind of let it dry a little bit, okay?
05:35I love the texture because it's so natural.
05:38I bring it actually down.
05:40This one is very stubborn.
05:47I put some more Mario.
05:51It's not a permanent resident in my face.
05:54So for the eyebrows,
05:55I just use this brush that has color,
05:58and look how I try to make them straight.
06:02Okay, now we're going to do the eyes.
06:04I've been doing makeup since I was 13.
06:06I was even doing the makeup for my friend's sisters,
06:10but now that everybody loves makeup,
06:12and there's so much of it,
06:14and so excited, so many toys.
06:16I realized that for me, my look is,
06:18I don't want to look overproduced.
06:20Everybody is too overproduced,
06:22and they look gorgeous,
06:24but that's not the look I want for myself.
06:27I also want to do makeup that is practical and fast.
06:30So Victoria Baker invented these pencils for the eyes,
06:36and I love them because they just have the perfect shimmer,
06:42and there's always like a little color,
06:44and I find them very sexy and very easy to put on.
06:48Look at this.
06:48I think it blends better with the finger.
06:51So we're going to call this session finger makeup.
06:54Then at the base, I'm just going to use this one,
06:57that it's actually not black.
07:00It's kind of like a gray, purpley.
07:06And then for underneath,
07:08I use this more like golden color,
07:13so it's not harsh again,
07:16and they all have a little bit of glitter in it,
07:20which also makes it softer.
07:23I love this Pemso.
07:24This one is by Charlotte.
07:26Then we're going to curl.
07:28I try to angle it like this so that the end goes up.
07:34For me, this is good,
07:35but if you want to make it more wow,
07:37you can take something that it's more glittery
07:41and with a little bit of color.
07:45This I don't use my finger
07:46because I don't want the glitter all over my finger
07:49because then there's parts of the face
07:51where I really, I am opposed glitter when you age
07:56because it picks the light in a way
07:58that any bump or imperfection,
08:01which I have to say,
08:02I put it in the crease so that when you blink,
08:05it's really nice to see it.
08:07But as you see, I did not use a color that is like
08:11the typical highlight that is super bright.
08:14I use a color that has the je ne sais quoi,
08:18but it's still not too bright
08:22so that it gives you this mysterious look.
08:25Then I use this highlighter,
08:28not because it's lighter,
08:30but because the texture makes it more interesting.
08:33It's kind of like activates the other ones.
08:36So what I do is I go really close
08:41and I kind of tap it like that.
08:45You know, I can do this without looking.
08:47Look, I can do this just by the feeling.
08:51You have to feel it on your skin.
08:53I'm not looking.
08:54I'm not looking at the camera.
08:56I can do this in the kitchen.
08:59I can do my makeup with the lights.
09:01I just do it by feeling the brush.
09:10As you get older, I thought when I saw like faces
09:13that were going like this,
09:14you know, that there were holes and stuff,
09:16I thought it was because people were putting fillers,
09:18you know, and then it was in the imperfection of the filler.
09:22Guess what?
09:24No, it happens naturally.
09:27I don't put fillers and I get it.
09:29It's anyway, this I do different than most people.
09:33So I put the powder first.
09:38This is magical.
09:40Look, the lack of the shimmer makes things flatter.
09:45Look how much better it looks what we did.
09:51You need to be good to do what I'm about to do, huh?
09:54Usually powder is hard to mix with other things.
09:56So you have to have the perfect touch.
09:58And I am going to correct again, extra.
10:02So Victoria, I can use this other thing that it's very light.
10:07So it's easier to mix.
10:11I use this other powder to contour on top of the other powder.
10:17Normally I do this with music.
10:26You see how uneven it is?
10:28You see what I'm at?
10:31And now I'm going to use this blush that I love.
10:35And I put a little bit of this again.
10:45All the way down here.
10:46Not anywhere close to the danger areas.
10:50Subtle, very subtle.
10:51You take something that is more like a tint.
10:54Next step.
11:02Next step.
11:03And you take a Kleenex.
11:12You open it in two.
11:20You want another color on the lips?
11:22I love this one.
11:22I love this one.
11:23What is the name?
11:23It's sneaky.
11:28This will make it last longer.
11:30So I like to combine two.
11:32They last longer when you put a couple.
11:37Okay, now I took this thing out because I also do makeup on the hair.
11:42I do not dye my hair.
11:44But if you choose not to dye your hair and you have the white, like I do.
11:50But sometimes they are rebels, you know, they go like this.
11:54Or sometimes you don't want the white.
11:57I use mascara.
11:58I use this other one.
11:59And then I just do this and it keeps it out of your face.
12:04You see, you have to change your makeup and beauty routine as you get older.
12:13Sometimes you go, oh, I don't look good.
12:15And I did all my makeup.
12:16And I hate the way I look.
12:18Change the makeup.
12:20Because maybe what worked before, it's not working now.
12:24So it's good to be adventurer, creative, and try to have fun while you're doing it.
12:29So this doesn't only kind of cover them.
12:32I don't want to cover them all.
12:34But it keeps them on place.
12:38Okay.
12:39You can actually manipulate your hair a little bit when it's wet and put your products, which
12:44I'm not putting any right now, touch your face, touch your hair, touch yourself.
12:51It's all about the connection you have with yourself.
12:53And it's the routine of beauty.
12:57It's a great moment to experience that.
13:00You will get more by doing this than by putting a thousand products on your hair,
13:07on your skin.
13:08You know, using your hands, using your fingers.
13:11It's having a moment of connection with yourself.
13:15And you can make this beauty routine meaningful instead of just like criticizing yourself.
