'We Love Them': Trump Praises Japan After US Steel And Nippon Agree To Merger Deal

At a rally in West Mifflin, Pennsylvania on Friday, President Trump spoke about the deal between US Steel and Nippon.

00:00Thank you very much everybody. It's a great group of people and he did have a

00:04lot of courage and he's not that big it's like okay I said Rocky I've had you

00:08up to here but boy does he have a heart right hearts it's all about the heart

00:13also Senator Dave McCormick who had a great election victory and he sends his

00:19regards he's he's trying to get a certain bill through that's going to

00:23give you the largest tax cuts in history and we got to get it done so thank you

00:28to Dave he's been great perhaps most importantly let me thank the tough

00:33hard-working members of the United States Steelworkers Local 2227 and the

00:40United States Steelworkers Local 1219 and the United States Steelworkers Local 1557

00:48you people are amazing and look what you've been able to do look what you've

00:53been able to do this is a big deal today this is a big deal you know I have

01:01to tell you about Nippon they kept asking me over and I kept rejecting and no

01:06way no way no way and after about four times I said you know these people really

01:13want to do a great thing they want to they really want it and they're putting

01:17up you know billions of dollars and they're going to do this plant and other

01:20plants and it's great and you're going to have control you're going to maintain

01:25control and nobody would put up money like that and every time Dave I think

01:30you'll say every time they came in the deal got better and better and better for

01:34the workers because I didn't give a damn about anybody else if you want to know

01:38the truth and the rest of them they'll take care of themselves but for the

01:43workers and I have no doubt that Nippon and Dave and everybody else we're all

01:49working together and I'm going to be in Washington I'm going to be watching over

01:52it and it's going to be great but there's unbelievable spirit for what

01:57you're doing and I'm telling you you're going to find out that the great people

02:01of Japan and we love them you know Shinzo Abe was my friend he was a great

02:07Prime Minister of Japan and unfortunately he's no longer with us you know what

02:12happened with Shinzo but he was a great friend of mine an amazing man and it's

02:18an amazing country and you're gonna have a tremendous relationship so thank you

02:22very much we very much appreciate it
