00:00what's up my name is Nick Asper I play bass in a band called colorblind from
00:14Austin Texas and we're currently on tour with capstan true north and not enough
00:19space today I'm going to show you some of our gear that we use throughout this
00:22tour we're gonna start with my bass personally oh I'm in love with the
00:29dingwall I believe this is an ng3 four string it actually was my studio bass we
00:38were just out with caskets in Europe sadly my food again my normal bass I use on
00:48tour kind of shit the bed one of the my bridge pickup went out so I decided to
00:55bring this one out we only had five days in between you know getting a home from
01:00Europe and leaving on this tour so I didn't have time to fix that bass for my
01:04dingwall I have it set up in drop C we do tune to a lot of different tuning so it's
01:10in drop C but on my pedal board I use a drop tune pedal we play in G G sharp a a
01:16sharp and B so it takes a lot I don't want to carry around multiple bases so I
01:24just use a pedal and then tune this to see I honestly leave most of these knobs
01:29just at a hundred percent I get most of my other like tone and I shape it through
01:35my pedals but yeah I just leave this on full blast the entire time I love it I
01:41believe these are Calium strings I think I'm saying that right I may not be and I
01:47want to say they're a hundred and thirty gauge bass strings long scale I kind of
01:54wanted to change it up with the dingwall I've never played with fan frets
01:57before I have a Fender Jazz at home I have a Fujigen and I had a Schecter none of
02:05them had fan frets so I kind of wanted to try this out and so far I've been loving
02:09it I've only had this bass for a couple years now but it's been awesome really good
02:14to me yeah so this is our guitarist Baliger it's a custom archetype I believe
02:20so this is equipped with the everton bridge it's super useful for the studio
02:24or live I think my guitarist has only tuned it like once or twice throughout
02:31this entire tour it stays in tune pretty much perfectly he's set up in dropsy as
02:37well and then he uses a neural DSP plug-in actually and then we use automation
02:44to change the tunings and to change all of the tones automatically so I usually
02:49start out with the shirt it's basically a sure wireless and tuner combo super
02:56convenient works pretty much perfectly all the time and then that will go into my
03:02drop tune pedal a gigi tech so when I drop to C from standard I can just turn
03:12this on and then I'll have my other tunings like I said earlier we play an A G
03:18sharp G B A sharp so that's super convenient to have I can tune to one
03:24tuning and not have multiple bases to yeah take up room in our trailer and then
03:30from there we go into a dark glass micro to be 7k ultra it's a preamp and
03:37distortion pedal for the base usually leave the master and level around 12 o'clock I
03:45crank my blend all the way up I keep my drive around 12 o'clock our music's more
03:52like pop rock so I don't need a whole lot of distortion and drive in my base and
03:57and then I have my base and settle treble pretty much cranked as well then high
04:03mids cranked and low mids right around like 10 o'clock maybe and then I have
04:09basically the voodoo lab to power everything this is an ISP decimator
04:16noise gate I'm currently not using it I used to go from my preamp pedal into here
04:22and then from here into a DI box but my DI box has been weird recently so I'm
04:29actually bypassing this and then this is basically my entire base chain for this
04:34entire tour so this is our main rig at the bottom we have our Apollo we have two
04:40different interfaces the Behringer x32 rack that kind of runs our in-ears and then
04:46the Apollo twin that runs all of our vocal processing it can do EQ preamps
04:54compression limiting tuning a whole bunch of stuff so we pretty much send
05:01everything into these splitters so we send our bass all of our vocal tracks our
05:07guitars our drums kick snare toms and then we run our overheads to the back
05:14straight into the x32 and then from there it goes into our x32 which goes
05:21into our in-ear monitors we control all of our in-ear mixes ourselves up here we
05:27have a router and each of us have an app on our phone that we download it
05:34connects to this router which is connected toward the x32 and we can set our in in
05:39ear mixes individually so from here it goes it splits goes into the x32 for the
05:46rack and then from there in their inner monitors so from the x32 into the Phoenix
05:52Pro they were nice enough to send us a free unit to test out on the caskets run
