00:00Hello, my name is Sam. I play bass in Anxious. This is my Fender Player Series. It's just a
00:16Mech CP that I refinished the body and I put new tuners on it because I broke one. I mean,
00:24it's pretty, it's turned up all the way, tone and volume. I have these Quarter Pounders in it.
00:28There's one song that I roll it off like a hair for, a song called Some Girls, but otherwise,
00:38yeah, they're pretty much up all the way. They're Deodario, they're not the Pro Seals,
00:43I think they're the Nickel Wound, just whatever the heaviest, I think the 115s. I like playing
00:48with really high action because it doesn't clank as much and I like for my bass to sound
00:54like an 808, kind of. Yeah, otherwise it's just normal. Represent. Just standard. Sometimes,
01:05we have a couple songs in drop D, so I have another bass with me that originally I was
01:10gonna have in D and just switch back and forth, but I don't want to do it, so I'm just using this
01:17one and tuning it and breaking the truss rod. I kind of want to get a new neck for this one anyway.
01:21I bought like a $600 bass and I probably put like $800 into it or something. I don't know.
01:29And now I'm gonna buy a new neck, so that'll be another $400. But that's, that's it. Yeah, I have
01:36nothing crazy. I mean, it's just a Boss tuner. This Microtubes V3K, the Dark Class pedal. I had a V1 that I've had
01:46since I was like 15, but it broke on this tour. And I bought a new one yesterday in Minneapolis from my friend Jake Beidle from
01:57Prize Horse. He works at Twin Town. It's a great music shop in Minneapolis. Yeah, and I just have this MXR DI. It's awesome. It's way better than a Sans Am in my personal opinion. It has this cool EQ section that I'd use to push it into this.
02:05So I have, it's really low and heavy, and then it comes into this, which is also really low and heavy. It's a super bass man. It's really heavy. And it's really fucking loud. I mean, you can see here the EQ section is just, it's hot.
02:12high on bass, low mids. Usually I keep the treble about here at noon. But lately I've been rolling it back just as much as the mids.
02:19So I've got the EQ section that I've used to push it into this. So I have, it's really low and heavy, and then it comes into this, which is also really low and heavy. It's a super bass man. It's really heavy. And it's really fucking loud.
02:29I mean, you can see here the EQ section is just, it's high on bass, low mids. Usually I keep the treble about here at noon. But lately I've been rolling it back just as much as the mids.
02:41Just as much as the mids. And then I just feel like with like overdriven bass, those high mids, those like really clanky high mids will come through.
02:53Cause this is always on. Like this, I never turn this off, which I don't like in my bass tone. I like like a really growly low end, but like it really bothers me if it's, it's super clicky and clanky.
03:04I don't know why. Um, I just always, that's yeah. Like I remember the, one of the first basses I ever had, I broke because I cranked the truss rod so much trying to get it high off.
03:14I was like Googling, how do I get my bass to stop clicking? I just don't like it. I don't know. So yeah. So there's like a lot of low end coming out of this, out of my board.
03:23And then it goes into the head, which is also like, I use this overdrive section. So it's even more distorted, which adds even more like high mids. And then I have, um, I have the blend down.
03:35So it's not like a ton of like gain coming out, but yeah. And then you, I mean, you can see like, it's pretty much the same EQ as the pedal where the bass is high.
03:47I don't turn the deep on where you pull it out, but I want to, but our sound guy Max doesn't want me to do that.
03:55Uh, and then yeah, the mids are scooped and the, the treble is a little higher, but still kind of down.
04:03Uh, I really like pushing this, this, this low ish, like 110 mid range. I guess it's like low mids, but that's like my favorite frequency range for a bass guitar.
04:16Um, but yeah, I like this thing a lot. It's too heavy. I kind of wish I bought an 800.
04:23Cause they sound almost exactly the same. I might even like how the 800 sounds better.
04:29So if you want to buy this from me, maybe I'll sell it to you.
04:35Uh, yeah. And then I just had this Ampeg 215 that I bought from a friend.
04:41It came with the case. That was like the most of the reason I bought it, but it's awesome.
04:46Uh, the grill keeps falling off. So I taped it.
04:48The same thing. Yeah. Yeah. I just had this concrete.
04:52But I'll sell that too. I don't give a fuck.
04:54Hit me up if you want to buy my dope shit.
04:56I want to, I kind of want to do some different, like I kind of want to get like two calves.
05:00I want to get like a 115 and a 410 on top. I don't know.
05:04Make me an office.
05:06Gotta have the pick, baby.
05:08Jason Newstead.
05:10Need I say more? Yeah, it's just like a Dorito pick.
05:12I think it's one, one, three. 1.13.
05:16It might be a little heavier. I don't like them too heavy.
05:20But I like them heavy.
05:22Yeah, I don't know. I pick really hard, so I need something thicker.
05:25Um, it doesn't matter because I smashed my finger up. Either way.
05:29I'm not good. I'm not very good.
05:31So, I don't really know what I'm doing.
05:33But yeah, that's my stuff.
05:35Uh, Anxious New Record, Bambi, out on Rump for Cover.
05:39Go listen to it, if you want. Thanks.
05:43Thanks.
