00:00up on this select bench with a center up here and what we're gonna do is we're gonna drop it on it
00:05then and then we're gonna start cutting her all up because we have all these parts to go in the
00:09whole rear end frame rails trunk floor rear panel and it's all obviously getting a quarter panel so
00:15anyway here we go we're gonna be taking her off here and just to let you all know if anyone hasn't
00:20seen any of these there's a part one and part two which is on my channel so go back and watch that
00:24if you want because it will give you more of an understanding about where we are and how we got
00:29these frame rails out and how we got them in this is the last video of this car and this one we're
00:35going to be putting the end panel and the quarter panel on so yeah like i said let's go back if you
00:39want to catch up anyway i hope you enjoy this one and if you have been watching from the start thank
00:45you for watching there you go that's when we had it all lined up that's where it left is last week
00:49so let's get going
00:51quick little walkthrough on this what it is asking for is
01:01nothing along here just glue along here just glue along here just glue along here so i'll just glue it
01:11and clamped and then up here one's s8 deans nothing there and then there's more s8 deans and s08s
01:20there's a mixture of a few of them down here as well and 4.8s along here s8 and s08 there as well
01:27and a few spot welds a few spot welds in here and another s8 and a few plug welds so it's a bit of a
01:34mix match what's going on here you can see these triangles are spot welds and these ones are
01:41plug welds obviously the printer here printed out in black and white you can print these out in color
01:45and it's way better or highlight or just look on your phone so any bit of everything going on with
01:51this one bit of welding bit of spot welding gluing and riveting let's get going
01:56okay so what i'm doing here is i'm just going through making sure i know where my 6.5 structures are
02:03going where my s08s and s18s are going and once i have it all written up then what i'm going to do
02:08is drill me holes get it all prepped before we start applying the glue
02:11and here what i'm doing is just put a bit of masking tape along here just use as a guide
02:21for when i get my air saw and i cut my joint what i usually do is i overlap my quarter panel
02:26and i cut in between the two panels and get a nice straight cut
02:30okay so we have all our holes ready
02:43up here all our holes ready along there along here
02:54so we are good to go we're going to take the panels off clean off the car again clean off the
03:02panels and then get some glue on this and get going anywhere where i've cleaned with aluminum
03:07we're going to re-clean it just brightly uh quickly sorry because uh well it's got spray
03:11because it starts oxidizing within 20 minutes or something so you want to have a nice and fresh
03:16so we'll do that now let's go
03:18so yeah like i just said bare aluminum will oxidize within 15 to 20 minutes so i'll just
03:29get a little bit of scotch brite on a sanding disc and i'll just run over the body of the car
03:33get it all nice and clean then i'll run over my parts i'll clean it all off then with like wax and
03:38grease remover clean up my area and then what we'll do is i'm going to start applying the glue
03:42here we go we are using a 2098 fuse or structural glue so we use on the other previous jobs as well
03:49this is tesla certified once i apply it on all the panels i'll spread it on with a spreader and
03:55making sure i'm covering all the bare aluminum or bare metal whatever you're applying onto
03:58once we get that done then we'll apply the panels on and start getting our rivets in
04:12so
04:19so
04:21okay slow form rivets the express 800 it's going to compress it in there
04:46there you go
04:53Now we'll clean all off that excess glue now in a minute.
05:23So, for anyone who doesn't know what flowform rivets are, they're kind of similar to self-piercing
05:43rivets.
05:44The only thing about it is, self-piercing rivets, you don't have to create a hole because it's
05:48in the name.
05:49Actually, the rivet will just pierce straight through the metal and create its own hole.
05:52Flowform, though, is not like that.
05:54You have to create the hole and they just push the flowform through it and then you have
05:57to squeeze it with this Express 800.
05:59So, that's the only real difference.
06:06Let's go in here, an SOA and an SAT and all it is is the length of the rivet.
06:13So, wait.
06:14Let's go in here, an SOA and an SAT.
06:31So, yeah.
06:32So, yeah.
06:33Like I said, the SOA would be a shorter rivet, the SOA would be a bit longer.
06:46And all it is is that it's going through thicker gauge material.
06:49So, like the SAT could be going through three panels while the SOA could be going through
06:53two panels.
06:54They're the same diameter, though.
06:55So, that's the difference between them.
06:57Yeah, we have a few more on the air panel.
07:04SOA, SAT, great.
07:22Same to the far side.
07:45Here we go.
07:50Nice.
07:57We have also another one in there, about to get a bigger head for that.
08:08Okay, just in case anyone didn't know what I was talking about, that's the arm we were
08:13using.
08:14Small arm.
08:15I need to put a bigger arm on it to get to that one, that one up there, and that one.
08:26So, let's get them ones done now.
08:33Nice.
08:34We can do that.
08:38We can do that.
08:44That's it.
08:45I'm sorry.
08:47That's it.
08:48We can do that.
08:52We can take a bigger arm.
08:53We can just keep向き.
09:24Right, so moving on quickly, we have glue on the inside of this arch, so we need to roll that edge quickly.
09:39So what I'm going to do is I get my dolly, hold it right along the edge there, put a bit of pressure on it while I fold the arch using my panel hammer.
09:46Just run the hammer all the way along it until we reach the end.
09:49Okay, we just rolled the edge.
09:55Sorry about this, when you have it glued, your time is limited, so I still have to get the spot welder and spot weld here.
10:02Right, let me show you this.
10:03So, the edge is all rolled.
10:14What I'll do is now, before we send it to the paint shop, I'll seal this as well.
10:17That's what you just see me doing there in that time lapse.
10:28Now, next thing I need to do, spot welder and then the meek welder.
10:33Anyway, let's go get the spot welder.
10:34We have CTR 9000, we're going to do that spot weld now, so...
10:39Do a spot weld here, spot weld there and a spot weld here.
10:42Let's go.
10:46Let's go.
10:47Let's go.
10:51Let's go.
10:57Let's go.
11:01Let's go.
11:21Let's go.
11:25Let's go.
11:26Let's go.
11:26Now, done, spot weld here, spot there, spot there, one there, done, now to do a few plugs
11:51along here, and obviously do our welds here as well, Jesus, let's go, okay, doing our
12:02joint welds, what I usually do is, I'll do stitches first, if any of the panel isn't
12:09lined up just slightly, I'll just have a little screwdriver and I'll just kind of twist it
12:12a little bit, just stick it in between the two panels and bend it to where it's nice
12:15and flush, just do your stitches, once they get it all stitched up, what I'll do is then
12:20I'll weld it down in sections, just to stop overheating in certain areas, which will
12:25obviously stop warpage as well.
12:27Okay people, so we're back, we have it all welded down there, we have a bit of glue here,
12:51that's gone off, that's set, we can take all these clamps off, what we'll do is, we'll
12:58start grinding this down, so yeah, it's your S18s, your glue, your weld, your glue, plug welds
13:12along here, we'll grind them down as well, so let's keep going.
13:17Okay people, just had a little clean up, gonna get that bench out there, we are at the filler
13:38stage, what I did was, I just sanded it down, got a DA to it, so you can see the weld is
13:45all here, that's just a bit of a low spot there, it's alright, put a filler over it, so you see
13:51what they want, just want glue here, they don't want you welding against the high strength steel,
13:55so, mig down, all the way down, same there, just want a bit of glue here, so what we do is put a
14:00little bit of filler here, blend it all in, same up here, they just wanted a bit of glue here,
14:06a little small weld here, a bit of glue there, this one here is glue all along there, it's all solid,
14:13so what I'll do is, I've had people just leave that now, because it's covered by the window,
14:16but I might just put a little bit of filler over it, a bit of filler here, a bit of filler there,
14:21and usually what I do with this edge, because I roll it, I'll just give it a little foil, just to
14:24make it flat, because you can probably, I don't know if the camera's going to show, from rolling the edge,
14:30you just get slight little wobbles in it, and then this here, because we have the, this piece here,
14:37this blue piece, this comes with the quarter, but you need to take it off, and keep the original on
14:44the car, so while doing that, sometimes you get a little bit of damage along here, sometimes you
14:49don't, sometimes you do, so just give that a little foil as well, just to get it nice and straight,
14:54okay, it's coming along though, I like this stage now, I hated that stage, right, filler time, let's go,
15:08okay, so like I said, onto the filler stage, if anybody's wondering what kind of filler I'm using
15:13here, I'm sure a few years now, I'm using 3M Platinum Plus, I've used this now for a few years
15:19over here in Canada, and I absolutely love it, and what I do when I'm mixing it up is,
15:24I add a little bit of resin to it, I think it almost makes it like a self-leveling filler,
15:29just makes it a little bit more watery, and easier to apply, I think also it gives you a little bit
15:35more time before it goes sets, you know what I mean, sometimes you're putting filler on,
15:38especially on a hot day, and it goes off, and you're only halfway through it, sandpaper wise,
15:43I usually use 80, and walk my way all the way up to 180, sometimes I finish with 320,
15:51but what I'm doing here now, this is 80 here, I use a 3M block, also my hand as well for a few
15:56curved areas, I'll do this top joint as well, once I get it to about 90%, I'll finish it all off with a
16:03bit of 180, and down at the bottom joint we have this body line here, so I'll use masking tape,
16:08a bit of Geico, just sand it down, put a bit of Geico on and take the tape off, and it just shows you
16:13where your line is, gives you a visual, so you know it's nice and straight, and after we get all
16:19this filler done, what I usually do is, I'll move on to the arch, when I get onto the arch, you'll see,
16:24I'll get the body foil, and I'll give it a foil, sand it down here, get back to bare metal first,
16:30when I get at the bare metal, what I'll do is, I'll just give it a foil there, just to make sure it's
16:34nice and flat, like I said earlier on the video, when you roll the edge, it just puts a few little
16:39wobbles in it, once I file it down, I'll just buzz over again, 80, all the way up to 180, get it nice
16:49and smooth, okay, so sealer, I get a lot of questions about sealer, I just use a normal sealer
16:56gun sometimes as well, we have the fancy ones here, but I don't use them all the time, just get a bit of
17:00masking tape, a brush, get your sealer, just put it on there and spread it out with the brush, once
17:05you have it all spread out, then I just horizontally, just brush it along each side, just to kind of
17:11blend in with the OEM factory sealer, here you go on this one, you can see the right side quarter panel,
17:17I'm just going to blend the sealer in with the original sealer, once I have that all done, what
17:21I do is just peel off the tape, and then I'll just get a cloth with a bit of wax and grease remover,
17:27and I'll just go around the edges, just to make sure I can just touch it up, make sure it's nice
17:31and clean, but it's always turned out well for me, if you haven't tried it, give it a bash, see what
17:36you think, also here, I'll just get a board, I'll just spread a load of sealer onto it, and I'll just use
17:47the brush, just to do the arch, and just blend it in, get it nice and sealed and protected, starting to see
17:53light at the tunnel, let's go, that's it folks, it's all done, have it sealed there, you don't need
18:01any fancy guns, just need a brush, masking tape, seal it all up, seal up here, what we'll do is we'll take
18:16the tailgate out and the door off, just checking the gaps, but it's all done, it's going to go to the
18:20paint shop now, it's sealed in here as well, around there, so all the fillers done, gaps looks well,
18:38so this will go, filler done, filler, this will go to the paint shop now, we're going to take a lift off
18:45the bench, go get primed, and when we put it back together, I'll do a video on that as well, so
18:51hope you've enjoyed it so far, if you just hadn't hit that subscribe button, please hit it, or like,
18:55or share, or any questions, leave in the comments, and I'll try and get back to you, but anyway,
19:03whole new rear end, these weren't fun, not gonna lie, they were not fun, the middle play,
19:11but it turned out well, god only know as many rivets as in this car now,
19:18couldn't have done it without me bet, hey buddy, me block of wood,
19:23that's the wrong side, boom, that's fresher,
19:28anyway, thanks for watching,
19:32okay, so push the car over to the hoist, what we're going to do is now to slide the arms underneath
19:37the car, lift it off the bench, get the bench out, and then while I have it up in the air,
19:42I still have to seal underneath the trunk floor, so once I get her up, I'll just mask it up again,
19:47just the same way on the end panel, mask it up, apply some sealer, get her all nice and sealed,
19:53and then we'll take it down, and get it into the paint shop,
20:08all right folks, so I forgot to record it in the booth, before I can come around the back of the booth here,
20:24so there is the model 3, it's all sealed, he's spraying sealer on it now,
20:33say hi john,
20:38he's busy, I'll leave him alone, anyway, spray a load of sealer on it,
20:43let that cure, then he'll probably start with his base,
20:48right, let's go, what's in this booth,
20:53Lamborghini, nice back from paint, going to start putting this thing together,
21:00have to leave the headliner out, it's a new headliner in the box, hair bags, seat belts,
21:05but she turned out well, here she is all inside,
21:17so these wires go through these holes, just have to connect them, so you can move the car,
21:22but it's all painted, put a bit of sound deadening on it, and then
21:25we will start working on all this, get it all done, anyway, let's get going!
21:41so there you go, we've been doing a lot on it there, got the seats in just there,
22:09we've got the whole new headliner in here, just put the new curtain airbag in here,
22:16new trim here, new windows trim, new C, new RCM module which goes in underneath this center console,
22:26all this trim was out, all this trim was out, all this trim was out, anyway it's coming
22:32along nicely, now with the quarter glass, strip rail, door, bumper, tailgate, getting there,
22:38all this trim here, let's keep going!
22:51right everyone, there she is, she's all polished, nice and shiny, she's going to get her now,
23:05wash now, customer will be here in a while, and all the gaps look well, if anyone followed this
23:10whole story, all the way to the end, from the start, this whole rear end got a whole,
23:14the hole got shoved right over, we had to replace the frame rails all the way back, tub,
23:18floor, m panel, quarter panel, it was a big one, but looks well, gaps all match up with the other side,
23:28everything's nice, everything went well, there's no codes on the dash,
23:33so she opens and closes nice, there you go,
23:40it was a big job, nice to do big jobs every now and then, so if you have any questions,
23:48just hit me up in the comments, and i'll get back to you as soon as i can,
23:51give the video now a thumbs up, or share if you want, so thanks for watching anyway, see you in the next one!
