00:00In the Indian corporate scene, at the entry level, the participation of women is close to 50% now.
00:06And then it drops steeply when it comes to the top, the C-suite category.
00:11There the participation is barely 10 to 15%.
00:13Why? Ideals.
00:15I'm a woman. I'm supposed to be educated. That's fine.
00:17I'm supposed to get a job. Even that is fine.
00:20But then comes an ideal. Something else becomes more important.
00:23And then to decorate the ideals, we start using euphemisms.
00:27Say, she's a great caregiver. What exactly do you mean by that?
00:30Why can't we be raw and direct?
00:33When you are being so careful and deliberate, doesn't that smell of deceit, inner deceit?
00:39To defend one ideal, you want to counter the raw fact of life.
00:43The raw fact of life is strife and struggle.
