00:00Le nouveau SWIFT Trawler 54 a la Dixon Yacht Design fusion hull qui est un semi-displacement
00:16hull form super efficient in the water and it's an evolution of Bill's work over the
00:21last 11 years and CFD research so Beneteau were I think attracted to our fusion hull design
00:34it's an interesting hull for the for the purpose of the SWIFT Trawler great thing about a fusion hull
00:41it's its ability to to run through a wide speed range there is very negligible change in in trim
00:50as you go faster and faster so you could say it doesn't have that sort of hump where before the
00:56boat starts running so it runs very cleanly so it's an interesting shape because it's it's it's if you
01:04like it's it's a bit of both styles of hull it's a bit of in the middle you could say it's a semi
01:10displacement displacement boat and then it has if you like some flatter running surfaces which are
01:17more efficient so this means that the boat sits nicely in the water so it's it's quite important
01:24a lot of boats sit on the surface that the diffusion hull simply in a simple term sits feels and sits
01:31deeper in the water and especially that's that's really good when you're going at slow speeds because
01:37it's a comfort issue as well and it's a handing directional stability and of course and the new hull
01:44has been optimized so that one of the things that's the big major on drag is is transom immersion
01:51for speed you've got to have transom immersion so we've we've balanced the the requirements for speed
02:00against trying to reduce the drag at the sort of cruising speeds the displacement cruising speeds and
02:06nine knots so what this boat does is it has a a narrower hull as it cuts through the water and then it
02:15widens widens out so the actual bit that cuts through the water is narrower and deeper and rounded
02:22so what happens when you go into a head seam that'll be a softer motion into a head seam because the boat also
02:30has flare when you're going in quartering seams the boat will have a lot of lift as well but in this
02:36boat we're probably looking at up to 20 percent saving in resistance now you might say well that's not
02:45that much but it's a lot and if that can actually be translated into range
