Trump lauds Musk as billionaire's turbulent tenure ends  US President Donald Trump praises billionaire Elon Musk's efforts to cut federal spending during a joint press conference in the Oval Office on May 30, 2025 as the Tesla CEO departs the administration after a chaotic tenure that saw the elimination of thousands of jobs and billions of dollars in contracts. Musk, who headed the Department of Government Efficiency, disrupted numerous agencies across the federal bureaucracy but ultimately fell far short of the massive savings he had initially promised. Musk said he intended to devote most of his energy to his business empire, including Tesla and SpaceX, after some investors expressed concern that DOGE was occupying too much of his time. 00:54And, but the Doge team will only grow stronger over time.

00:59The Doge influence will only grow stronger.

01:01I think the Doge team is doing an incredible job.

01:04They're going to continue doing an incredible job.

01:06And I'll be, and I'll continue to be visiting here

01:11and be a friend and advisor to the president.

01:15And with Elon's guidance, they're helping to detect fraud slash waste

01:20and modernize broken and outdated systems.

01:22So, as you know, we're talking about various systems

01:25and changing systems.

01:26And, you know, sadly, it takes a long time to do that.
