New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy Warns: Cutting Medicaid Is 'Ultimately...About All Of Us'

On Friday, Gov. Phil Murphy (D-NJ) spoke about the consequences of cutting federal Medicaid funding.

00:00these detrimental cuts. Thank you, Governor. Jeff, thank you. And you make the point very clearly

00:05that this is not just about a narrow slice of our state, which it is, by the way, you've seen,

00:10you've heard real-life evidence of that. It's ultimately about all of us and the health of

00:15our state and the public health generally in New Jersey. And you're absolutely right about Governor

00:21Christie. He made a big move on the chessboard, which was Medicaid expansion. And we in our

00:30administration determined we weren't getting our money's worth out of Washington and built our own

00:34exchange. Those two separate but related and important moves helped propel us to a place where

00:42I mentioned earlier where I don't know, for all the bad news, I don't know that I'd rather be

00:47anywhere else other than the great state of New Jersey. So on behalf of the elected officials,

00:53Avi, I cannot thank you enough. Sarah, our experts and cabinet members, Sarah, Christine, and Jeff,

01:50our way through this. We'll do everything we can in the state. But again, there's only so much you can
