A woman has been remanded in custody on charges relating to a stabbing spree in Victoria’s east. Four men were stabbed at separate locations over the course of 15 minutes last night. Police have reassured the Bairnsdale community there's no threat to public safety.
00:00In the space of just 15 minutes, police allege 24-year-old Ebony Pedretti stabbed four men on Thursday night in Bairnsdale.
00:10Police say that shortly before 10 o'clock last night, she was in the local Woolworths when she was acting erratically and speaking to numerous people.
00:20She has then allegedly stabbed a 45-year-old man who worked at the supermarket.
00:25He was flown to the Alfred Hospital where he's in a serious but stable condition.
00:30Police allege she then walked across the road to a McDonald's car park and attacked another man after he refused her a lift.
00:38Ms Pedretti then walked to the Grand Terminus Hotel where she allegedly cut the arm of a 52-year-old man
00:44before crossing the road to the railway station and allegedly stabbing a 24-year-old man in the shoulder.
00:51Victoria Police Inspector Mark Rossiter says last night's events were an isolated incident.
00:56It was a significant incident which would have been quite confronting for those involved and be quite confronting for community members to see that an incident like that's occurred in our community.
01:06So as a result of that, we're increasing our patrols around the Bairnsdale CBD.
01:13In the Bairnsdale Magistrates Court this afternoon, Defence lawyer Lauren Campbell told the court that Ms Pedretti was unable to appear.
01:22She was refusing to leave her custody cell at the Bairnsdale Police Station and was likely drug affected.
01:28She's been charged with recklessly causing injury and intentionally causing injury and she'll appear in the Latrobe Valley Magistrates Court on Monday.
