00:00So to get dental x-rays on our giraffe we modified an old umbrella stand and we
00:09actually made it into a really nice platform to put their chin on. So we
00:12trained them to put their chin right on there and as you can imagine you have to
00:15hold really still for x-rays so it took a while to get the giraffes to have that
00:19little behavior but it's really not stressful for them and we get some
00:23really great images from it. So a fun fact about giraffe mouths especially
00:28about clintoon over here is that they only have teeth in the front on their
00:31bottom so they actually don't have any on the top just like a cow. So giraffes
00:34have a kind of different color tongue it's kind of this purplish blue color and
00:38that is because it helps to protect them from the Sun when they're out eating food
00:42they use their tongue a lot to grab all the leaves and bring them into their
00:45mouth.
