00:02The stuff vacation dreams are made of.
00:05Tourists from all over the world flock here in the millions,
00:09yet recent data says that Europe might be becoming way too expensive for tourists.
00:14According to this survey, many say that high travel costs are the number one reason
00:20why they might ditch that trip to Europe for cheaper shores.
00:23Other reasons include an interest in other locations and limited vacation time.
00:28The report suggests that there is going to be a drop in travelers from the US,
00:33South Korea, Brazil and Australia in 2025.
00:37And those who do come may be looking at a 14% increase in expenses compared to last year.
00:43We went to the iconic Brandenburger tour in Berlin to find out more.
00:46It's going to be more expensive than if you were to just travel within the US.
00:49And so I do think that the most people who make such a big vacation are prepared for costs.
00:54Yes, some of us think that we have to save a lot to come to Europe
01:02because it's one of the more expensive places to come.
01:07And plus it's very far from us to come here, like 24 hours by plane.
01:13The travelers here at Brandenburger tour do think it's worth the trip,
01:26but nearly everyone has observed the spike in prices.
01:28The popularity of other destinations has contributed to a potential drive away from Europe
01:33or major European destinations.
01:34Visitors really do want to enjoy something that's unique, that's local, that's authentic, that's affordable.
01:43And so, you know, in the news recently, we've seen the importance of or the rise of the destination dupes.
01:50So everybody's saying that Albania is the new Croatia.
01:54On top of increasing costs, tourists are feeling an attitude shift among locals,
01:58with Spain and Italy, for example, seeing growing protests by residents against over-tourism.
02:03Visitor numbers once again hitting pre-pandemic highs is welcome news to the continent
02:08where flagging economies like Germany can use any euro, dollar or peso they can get.
