00:00Last time in the main match, Ken's smart strategy saw his team storm ahead.
00:07That's really good.
00:08While Charlotte's team struggled.
00:10I'm going for Lion.
00:11Are we sure?
00:13Yeah.
00:14Ryan Dinkin, they messed up.
00:15It was all about picking a stupid animal.
00:18Leaving Bedalia as the ultimate victor.
00:21Despite Ben's appeals against saving Bex.
00:24Why would you help her? She's done nothing.
00:26Bedalia gave her immunity from the death match.
00:30Bex.
00:31And chose Indy as the death match candidate.
00:34I want you to stay in, but I can't do it.
00:38But Indy's choice of opponent proved a big mistake.
00:43Alison wins one point.
00:45As Alison sealed her second death match victory.
00:50Well done, good game.
00:52Sending Indy parking.
00:54Goodbye guys.
01:00Next week
01:15We're back.
01:16First one's here.
01:17First one's here.
01:18Love it.
01:19Create some chaos.
01:21So how are you after yesterday?
01:23Yeah, I mean, it was a great day for me, that game.
01:26I feel pretty confident after the previous game.
01:28Because everyone seems to value me.
01:30I think they know that what I say is genuine.
01:33I'm not calculating.
01:34I'm not trying to be sneaky about anything.
01:39Hello.
01:40Hey guys.
01:41Hi.
01:42We made it another day.
01:44We did good yesterday.
01:45Feel good?
01:46Yeah.
01:47The two death match victories have put me in quite a strong position.
01:52To cement me as a contender in the eyes of the group.
01:55And I think that's given me better odds of remaining in the game.
02:01Morning.
02:02Morning.
02:03Hello.
02:04Hi guys.
02:05Hi.
02:06Oh God.
02:07Good to be back.
02:08Welcome back.
02:09Top six.
02:10Top six.
02:11So how are we all feeling?
02:12Good.
02:13Good.
02:14Good.
02:15We're all still here, that's the main thing.
02:16Yeah.
02:17I mean, everyone remaining is just good, you know.
02:18Both strong.
02:19Yeah, there's no doubt about it.
02:20Very strong group.
02:21I came in here with a plan.
02:25I don't think I've wanted something more than to win the genius game.
02:28So today I'm hoping that I can win, or at least I can gain immunity.
02:37Welcome, welcome, welcome the final six.
02:40Amongst you stands our eventual winner.
02:43And around them a bunch of...
02:45I say non-winners, because I wanted to see losers.
02:48That's harsh.
02:49Let's have a look now at how many garnets you've collected so far.
02:54You have 32 garnets between you,
02:56meaning there is £32,000 in the prize pot.
02:59Let's go.
03:01It increased a lot yesterday.
03:02Yeah, we did great yesterday.
03:04Players, it's time for your main match and our first team game,
03:08which is called Diamond Dilemma.
03:12And the big question is, will you be able to handle the pressure?
03:17And that's actually quite clever, because that's how diamonds are made.
03:22On with the game.
03:23The players are split into two teams, which will be selected at random.
03:26Each player has ten diamonds, which are stored in their personal lockers in the dealer room.
03:32The game will consist of five rounds.
03:34At the end of each round, every player enters the dealer room
03:38and may remove any number of diamonds from their locker and place them in the communal jar.
03:43The team who put in the higher number of diamonds wins the round and gains a point.
03:49At the end of each round, the number of diamonds deposited by the losing team is revealed,
03:53but the number of diamonds deposited by the winning team remains hidden.
03:56After five rounds, the team with the most points wins the main match.
04:01The player on the winning team with the most diamonds remaining in their locker is the winner
04:05and will receive two Tokens of Life.
04:07If multiple players on the winning team finish with the same number of diamonds,
04:11they will all receive a Token of Life.
04:14The player on the losing team with the fewest diamonds remaining in their locker
04:19becomes the deathmatch candidate.
04:21The winner or winners will each receive one garnet, plus one garnet for every diamond they have remaining.
04:28But the dilemma is that to win as a team, you must deposit the most diamonds,
04:33but to win as an individual, you must have the most diamonds remaining at the end.
04:39Oh my God!
04:41What's interesting about this one is that there's obviously a huge numbers component
04:45trying to track what you've put in and potentially what the others have,
04:48but also like reading people.
04:50Yeah, it's tricky.
04:51It's a very interesting game. It's all about trying to predict what the other team are doing.
04:55It's just pure psychology.
04:56Because they show how many diamonds the losing team played,
04:59you can kind of track if your team is being honest,
05:01but you could definitely wait till the last moment to betray your team.
05:07It comes down to who's in what team, doesn't it?
05:09It all gets strategic now.
05:11This game is a balancing act because in order to win as a team,
05:16you have to have them in the pot.
05:17But in order to win as an individual, you have to have them in your locker.
05:20So it's very much a how far do you tip that scale?
05:24It just depends on who is first in your mind.
05:26Is it yourself or is it your team?
05:28And I think quite a few people will find that difficult today.
05:32I like the sound of this game.
05:33It's hard.
05:34I'm just glad I'm in a team.
05:36I think we're going to be randomly allocated to teams.
05:38That's quite nice.
05:39There's no social aspect to it.
05:42No one's running off into rooms.
05:44The main match will be starting very soon.
05:46It is time to pick your teams.
05:51Ooh.
05:53White.
05:55This is going to be interesting.
05:56It's just all white in a row.
06:03The white team are going to be fairly formidable.
06:06So I think we're going to have a bit of a challenge on our hands.
06:10Red.
06:11Red.
06:12Team Red.
06:14Round one of Diamond Dilemma will now start.
06:17We'll win this, Eddie.
06:18OK.
06:19Good luck.
06:20Thank you. Good luck.
06:21Good luck.
06:22Good luck.
06:24I think we'll have this.
06:25Really?
06:26I think we might have this.
06:28Yeah.
06:29Why are you so confident?
06:30I don't know.
06:31I just think the stronger players for this kind of game are in this room.
06:34This game is pretty suited to me because it's psychology, it's maths, it's a bit of everything.
06:40It's really trying to get into your opponent's head about what they're going to do.
06:43The main strategy that I can think of is we have to all have the same.
06:48So we're all going for immunity in the win, right?
06:50It only works if we all believe that and do that.
06:53That's what we're going to do.
06:54We've proven that to each other because we know we're honest.
06:56Medallia is desperate, desperate to win.
07:01And I think sometimes that will overrule the teamwork ethic.
07:07And he might forget to take some of his diamonds out of his locker when he's meant to.
07:12So I am pretty worried about that.
07:15Maybe I need to start accidentally leaving things in lockers.
07:18Who knows?
07:20What I was thinking would be a very dominant way and I think we'd win and we should play 9-9-9.
07:25And that's it.
07:26Because no one's ever going to play higher than 10.
07:29I don't think it's a bad strategy.
07:30It's just that I tend to be a little bit more risk averse of a person.
07:34So the strategy makes me nervous.
07:37I think it's probably a good strategy.
07:38If we play 9-9-9, the idea is that we would hopefully just win at that point.
07:45I'm just a little bit nervous about the strategy, but I think it's a good one.
07:49Which is why I'm going along with it.
07:51It's quite a, it's an all-in.
07:53Yeah, it's an all-in strategy.
07:55But I think, no, they're not going to think that way.
07:58I mean, everyone's feeling each other out in the first round.
08:01So we want to retain as many as we can.
08:03So I think we go as low as possible, but maybe not 0-0-0.
08:05I'd be happy with anything up to 1-1-2.
08:09Yeah, that's far.
08:11Shall we go for that?
08:12I'll go 2.
08:13You go 1.
08:14Cool.
08:15Is that the decision?
08:16Let's go with that.
08:17It'll fill them out.
08:18Yeah.
08:19Our strategy is to retain as many diamonds as we possibly can.
08:25But putting enough down in the jar so that we can try and win as many rounds of this game as possible.
08:32This is so scary.
08:33I think it's a good strategy.
08:35I think it will win most of the time.
08:37The round is over.
08:38Please return to the atrium.
08:39How do you go about this?
08:40Oh, my God.
08:41Anything could happen.
08:42We came up with a strategy very early on.
08:44We're sticking to it.
08:45We're just going to put three diamonds each in, put nine every round, and see if we win.
08:55So what are you guys going for?
08:57We'll put all 30 in straight away.
09:01Damn, it's going to be a draw, then.
09:05Players, it's time to head to the dealer room.
09:07Ken, you're up first.
09:20If you can select your key, open your locker and select the number of diamonds you wish to deposit into the jar.
09:34Okay.
10:05Here are the results.
10:07Here we go.
10:11Don't react.
10:14Anything could happen here.
10:19Oh.
10:20Wow.
10:24At the end of round one, white team take the lead with one point.
10:30Okay.
10:31The losing red team deposited four diamonds.
10:35Okay.
10:39We will now begin round two.
10:42Okay.
10:43We're going again.
10:45It's fine.
10:46They've used more than us.
10:47Mm-hmm.
10:48They've used more than us.
10:49Yeah.
10:50Yeah, but we should have gone zero or one.
10:51No, no.
10:52They don't should have.
10:53We went based on everyone was taking a 50-50 chance.
10:55No, I know, but if we had done zero...
10:56There's no should have.
10:57It's happened.
10:58All right, it's happened.
10:59We'll move on.
11:00Yeah.
11:01That's really good.
11:02Okay.
11:04So, they have 26 remaining.
11:05Yeah.
11:06And now one of them is scared because one of them had to put one more...
11:09One extra, yeah.
11:10...than the rest of them.
11:11That's interesting.
11:12Yeah.
11:13The result of round one was good.
11:14We won.
11:15We got a point.
11:16That's really important.
11:17They are playing the way that I expected them to play, and that's very powerful.
11:22We could be really bold and go zero, zero, zero in the next round,
11:28and then we couldn't afford to lose another round.
11:30The most risk-averse strategy is probably going for three zeros in our side
11:36because we know we'll lose, but we'll have the most number of diamonds
11:40for the rest of the game, which could then make the others feel a bit
11:44unsure about what we could do as we have more options.
11:47I think I'm just happy to stick with the plan.
11:49I think they might put, like, seven or eight this time,
11:52but I don't think they'll go there.
11:53They don't go high.
11:54They're playing just a normal strategy, I think.
11:58I just don't think it's worth going zero, zero, zero...
12:00No.
12:01..because we'll just draw and it's nothing.
12:02It's true, because they could do zero, zero, zero,
12:04thinking we're going to go high.
12:06Yeah.
12:07It's a good point.
12:08I'll go one.
12:09You go one?
12:10Yeah.
12:11And I'll just do nothing?
12:12Just do nothing.
12:13And you do nothing?
12:14Do nothing.
12:15Should we stand out there?
12:16I don't feel us.
12:17We could just stand out there and listen.
12:18I think we just want to disrupt their conversations, that's it.
12:20Should we just be shits and giggles?
12:21We've got a lot of time.
12:22Yeah, can we get to know each other?
12:23Yeah, OK.
12:24Yeah.
12:25And then I feel like you'll be less likely to do that.
12:28You'll be less likely to betray me by putting in one less.
12:30I'm not doing that.
12:31I'm not doing that.
12:32I'm not doing that.
12:33I could say that you two have just asked for a chat.
12:36With who?
12:37Each other.
12:38Yeah.
12:39OK.
12:40I'd be very surprised if that group came out and wanted to put ten on.
12:45Hello.
12:46Hey.
12:47Hi.
12:48You OK?
12:49Hi.
12:50Hello.
12:51Is it weird that them two have just asked for a private chat without me?
12:53That is very weird.
12:54Sounds weird to me.
12:55Team White are in a really strong position right now.
12:57So we were, like, psyching them out.
12:59We're all out here to play a game, aren't we?
13:01It's Brexit.
13:02Oh.
13:03It's all right.
13:04I just...
13:05I couldn't be bothered sitting on my own.
13:07No, I'm coming back.
13:08I'm coming back.
13:09I'm coming back.
13:10OK.
13:11OK, bye.
13:12See you.
13:13See you.
13:14Bye.
13:15God, I wasn't sure if that was an act or what.
13:17I don't know.
13:18Yeah.
13:19I'm glad that they haven't gained much, anyway.
13:21It's so funny.
13:22Round two is over.
13:23Please return to the atrium.
13:27What?
13:31How are we doing?
13:32It's a good game.
13:33It's a good game.
13:34It's so interesting.
13:35Bex, please go to the dealer room.
13:40Going to be iced.
13:42I will be depositing...
13:44..no diamonds in this round.
13:57Here are the results.
14:25Here are the results.
14:38The white team won round two, taking them up to two points ahead of red team zero.
14:45The losing red team deposited one diamond.
14:53We will now begin round three.
14:59The results of round two was that the white team won.
15:01The red team spent only one diamond.
15:04That is a little bit worrying.
15:05We were hoping that they would have spent six, seven, eight diamonds.
15:09So the plan is going according to plan, but it could, of course, all derail at the very
15:13end, depending on what they choose.
15:14Now we have a decision to make.
15:15Yeah.
15:16About whether we go nine or whether we go 12.
15:17They looked a bit shocked that we beat them.
15:18Yeah.
15:19So we need to come up with a plan.
15:25We don't actually know how much they've spent at all, so, like...
15:27It's more about when they think we are going to...
15:31Go high.
15:32Go high.
15:33Guessing what the other team's doing is quite difficult.
15:37They know we need to win the next one.
15:39Whether they'll go really high or go in the middle and we have to go really high with
15:43round four, it's a dangerous game.
15:46Obviously, they were trying to save their diamonds so that they can go harder in the
15:49last round.
15:50Possibly true, yeah.
15:51So they have 20...
15:5225.
15:53...diamonds left.
15:54It's a bit nerve-wracking because we could still lose.
15:56I think they're least likely to play over nine in this round.
15:59Yeah?
16:00I think, because if they played, like, 12, 11, 10, they could really put them in a bad
16:05spot for the last two.
16:07How many could they have?
16:0823 maximum.
16:0923?
16:10I mean, they could quite easily put everything in.
16:12Why?
16:13One, three rounds.
16:15One, three rounds.
16:16Game over.
16:17Oh...
16:19I think...
16:20Hang on.
16:21They're going to go pretty high now.
16:22Yeah, they are.
16:23Because it will guarantee them the win.
16:24OK, we need to go higher to bring us back in.
16:27But not high enough to not be able to play rounds in four and five.
16:31I think they might play a lot this round.
16:33That's what I'm worried about.
16:34Yeah.
16:35But I think they might also think...
16:37But would they play over 12?
16:39No.
16:40Rex needs to do one more than us two, so we come back level.
16:43Mm-hm.
16:44It's either then 10 or 13, isn't it?
16:47Yeah.
16:48I think we just play an odd one.
16:49Shall we do it?
16:50I'm happy to not go over 12.
16:51Shall we just do all of it?
16:52Yeah.
16:53OK.
16:54Great.
16:55Round three is over.
16:56They might win.
16:57In round three, the white team's strategy is to play all of our remaining diamonds.
17:01We each should have four left for a total of 12.
17:05Alison, please go to the dealer room.
17:14OK.
17:15I'll go to the dealer room.
17:16I'll go to the dealer room.
17:17I'll go to the dealer room.
17:18I'll go to the dealer room.
17:19I'll go to the dealer room.
17:20I'll go to the dealer room.
17:21I'll go to the dealer room.
17:22I'll go to the dealer room.
17:23I'll go to the dealer room.
17:24I'll go to the dealer room.
17:25I'll go to the dealer room.
17:26I'll go to the dealer room.
17:27I'll go to the dealer room.
17:28I'll go to the dealer room.
17:29I'll go to the dealer room.
17:30I'll go to the dealer room.
17:31I'll go to the dealer room.
17:32I'll go to the dealer room.
17:33I'll go to the dealer room.
17:34I'll go to the dealer room.
17:35I'll go to the dealer room.
17:36You guys are playing well.
17:46Here's the results.
17:47It's a good game.
17:48What?
17:49Nice.
17:50The red team win round three, meaning the scores are 2-1 to the white team.
18:06The losing white team deposited 12 diamonds.
18:13We will now begin round four.
18:15Good job.
18:17Good job.
18:19We've put in all our diamonds, so unfortunately our strategy has come apart and we have no
18:26diamonds left.
18:27So, it's just a case of seeing how this round plays out, isn't it?
18:31Shit, we fucking nailed that.
18:33It's like sitting ducks.
18:35Yeah.
18:36Wow.
18:37Strategy failed.
18:38Sorry, guys.
18:39I mean, there's still a chance they put 0-1 one round, and then it's a draw, and then
18:48it goes to 2-2.
18:51Yes.
18:52But it's very unlikely.
18:55It's not fun to lose games when there's so much at stake.
18:59I am very nervous.
19:01They've just used 12.
19:03So, they've got a maximum of 11.
19:05Right, shit, what do we do in this next round?
19:07We have to play to win.
19:08But we have to go...
19:09But we still have to have some left.
19:10We do have to have some left.
19:11If they're playing numbers divisible by three all the time...
19:14Yeah.
19:15..because that was a 12, wasn't it?
19:16Yeah.
19:17That means they would either have played six or nine there, right?
19:20Yeah.
19:21Or something bigger, right?
19:22Yeah.
19:23They've played 12 there, so why don't we put nine in now?
19:26The round is over.
19:27Right.
19:28So, we're going to put all of them in except for one.
19:30Nine.
19:31Three each.
19:32Three each, yeah.
19:33OK.
19:40How are we doing?
19:41Oh, gross.
19:42Whatever happens, happens.
19:45Has this lined up with your strategy?
19:47I feel like you guys are very much in control of the game.
19:50I don't know.
19:51Anything can happen.
19:52Yeah.
19:53Anything can happen.
19:54You always say that, I know.
19:55Charlotte, please go to the dealer room.
20:03In the dealer room, I opened my empty case that has zero diamonds in it
20:08and I put zero diamonds into the jar.
20:10I feel very nervous about the fact that the white team has no more diamonds remaining.
20:33But, honestly, I was on the verge of not putting any in.
20:39But then that would have meant that the others would lose faith in me
20:42if they found that I'd done something differently.
20:48Players, here are the results.
20:51I think they went low.
20:52You mustn't, please.
20:54It's a big game.
20:57The red team have won round four.
20:59It is currently 2-2.
21:03When the scores went up, I think it was like a...
21:06I kind of have to hold it together right now
21:08or they're going to know that we've lost.
21:10There's still things that could happen.
21:13But I wouldn't bank on it.
21:15I'm almost certain that I'm going to win.
21:17I'm going to win.
21:18I'm going to win.
21:19I'm going to win.
21:20I'm going to win.
21:21I'm going to win.
21:22I'm going to win.
21:23I'm going to win.
21:24I'm going to win.
21:25I'm almost certain that they're going to win.
21:29The losing white team deposited no diamonds.
21:34Yeah.
21:35Players, good luck in the final round.
21:45Can't win, can we?
21:46No.
21:47You win some, you lose some.
21:49You win some, you lose some.
21:52They knew we were going to go high
21:54because they knew we needed to win the round.
21:56So they went and thought,
21:57there's no point putting anything in.
22:00Unless they've got less than three wins.
22:04In the last round,
22:05we all have one each left to play with.
22:08We think they've got maximum of 11 left.
22:11I'm just hoping that within that team,
22:14they're not playing it equal.
22:16This is probably the most stressful part
22:19of this game I've had, to be honest.
22:21I bet they don't...
22:22They're stressing.
22:23Yeah.
22:24They shouldn't be.
22:25One thing we have to do out
22:26is looking confident and chipper.
22:28Like smug, like quiet and smug.
22:30Yeah.
22:31In fact, should we be out there
22:32when they get out there?
22:35I think we have to prepare ourselves mentally for...
22:39For potentially being picked.
22:40Yeah.
22:42It is what it is, unfortunately.
22:48Deathmatch.
22:49It's time.
22:50It's not.
22:51Nothing's certain.
22:52Nothing's certain.
22:54Is this the fifth round?
22:56It's the last one.
22:57So we can put everything in?
22:58It's the last round, we're two all.
23:00Two all.
23:02Yeah, yeah.
23:03Oh, hello.
23:04Everyone's here.
23:05Hey.
23:06You all right?
23:07Chilling.
23:08You guys OK?
23:09Yeah.
23:10Yes.
23:11You all right?
23:12OK.
23:13Final round.
23:18Don't need to, I guess.
23:22I've just realised I don't know what I'm meant to do.
23:27Right, so we know we've lost, but...
23:29I don't know if I'm meant to put it in or not.
23:32There'd be no point putting it in because we know we've lost.
23:35Do we know we've lost?
23:39Oh, my God.
23:40Oh, my God.
23:49In the dealer room, I put in my final diamond.
23:52That's what I told my team I was going to do,
23:54and hopefully that's what the rest of the team has done as well.
23:58We've lost as a team, but then...
24:02..it's the person...
24:03Oh!
24:04Oh!
24:06It's the person with the least amount that goes to death match.
24:09But we never had a conversation about that.
24:11We didn't decide if we were going to put them all in on the last round.
24:18Each of us put one diamond in the jar,
24:21meaning that we've got none left.
24:23In every round, I have played exactly what I agreed to
24:27with the rest of the team.
24:28I've not deviated at all, and just now I stuck to the plan.
24:31Am I meant to put it in?
24:49Am I meant to put it in?
24:51Am I meant to put it in?
25:08OK.
25:21Players, the game is now over.
25:24So who was the diamond in the rough and who lacked sparkle?
25:33Let's find out the final score.
25:36Red team win today's main match.
25:39Good game. Good game. Good job, guys. Thank you.
25:45Let's take a look at what's left in their lockers.
25:51Oh...
25:53What?!
25:54Oh!
25:55Is that saying that I win or we all win?
25:57You win. You win.
25:58Hold on, who won the whole...?
26:00She won, but only she has immunity.
26:04Hold on.
26:10Earlier today...
26:11Is this the fifth round?
26:13It's the last one.
26:14So you put everything in?
26:15It's the last round, we're two all. Two all.
26:18Yeah, yeah.
26:19Maybe I need to start accidentally leaving things in lockers.
26:23Who knows?
26:25Oh, just don't put it in, then, do I?
26:27Surely everyone's going to do that.
26:29I'd be dumb as hell if I put it in, surely.
26:31I put nothing in.
26:38Why didn't you have a joint win?
26:40Why didn't you put all your...?
26:41I've made a mistake. I messed up.
26:43Cos we'd not agreed what we were doing in the last round
26:45and we thought we'd lost.
26:47I was like, I don't actually know what I'm meant to do.
26:49I swear on my life. I swear on my life.
26:53I think Bex is cleverer than she makes out.
26:55She always says stuff like, I'm just a dumb blonde or whatever.
26:58And now I'm wondering whether she's playing on that deliberately
27:01and that in itself is a bit of a betrayal.
27:03Oh, my God, Rebecca!
27:05You idiot!
27:07Well, the plot really does thicken.
27:12Our team plan was to throw in all our diamonds at the end
27:16so that all three of us will have immunity.
27:19So I'm not quite sure how Bex ended up with one.
27:22We have long memories in this game.
27:25If anyone betrays somebody, then the chances are
27:28that if both parties survive,
27:30then somebody will come unstuck down the line.
27:33No, I'm so sorry.
27:35There was an element of trying to survive,
27:38cos I have to remember it is a game,
27:40but I am a team player and I just proper let myself down there.
27:44Why did I do that? I couldn't smash myself in the face.
27:47Why did I do that?
27:49Yeah, we knew we had lost by round three.
27:51We knew we'd lost that round three.
27:53We thought we had cos we had three diamonds left.
27:55We had none.
27:57There are people who are developing strategies
27:59who aren't just being told what to do by other people.
28:02I don't buy for a second that it was an accident
28:05that she was left with a diamond.
28:07I think that was calculated.
28:10Don't worry.
28:11I think right now I need to make sure I'm in everyone's good books,
28:16including Bex's.
28:17I have to say to her,
28:18well, look, look what I did for you yesterday,
28:21cos I gave her the token of life yesterday.
28:23And that has to mean something.
28:25Bex, as the main match winner,
28:27you must now pick between Benjamin, Charlotte and Ken
28:31to be the deathmatch candidate.
28:33It must be mine here.
28:35Can I borrow yours as well?
28:37No?
28:38OK, that's fine.
28:39That's fine.
28:40Yeah.
28:41I'd rather just stay with the three.
28:43Aw!
28:44Bex, calm, it's OK.
28:45No, I swear, no, you don't understand.
28:47I believe you, I believe you.
28:48I was honestly losing my mind in there.
28:50Can I just say one thing?
28:52I'm so sorry.
28:53You know what?
28:54We have to decide quickly.
28:55All I wanted to say to you,
28:57I don't think anyone's going to pick you.
29:00They're not going to pick you.
29:01You've won twice.
29:02And obviously I gave you the token of life yesterday.
29:04Yeah.
29:05Cos I want to build that.
29:06I'm literally going to do whatever you guys tell me to do.
29:08But I've left one of you wide open.
29:10No, she's not wide open.
29:11I hate myself right now.
29:13It would be nice to get a token of life,
29:15but Vidalia thought I probably wouldn't get picked for a deathmatch.
29:19I didn't really argue with the logic.
29:21Vidalia had given Bex a token of life before.
29:24I would have liked one at some point in my existence.
29:28But not today, clearly.
29:32Bex, you must now pick the deathmatch candidate.
29:37Bex and I haven't really gotten along all that well,
29:41so I think my odds of being in this deathmatch are 100%.
29:45It's just a question of who my opponent is.
29:47It is you, Ben, I'm afraid.
29:49I understand.
29:54Good luck.
29:56No hard feelings, whatever.
29:57Whatever you choose as well.
29:59Bex, as the main match winner,
30:01you have gained two tokens of life.
30:03You have also won two garnets.
30:06Please select the player you would like to give a token of life,
30:09granting them immunity from the deathmatch.
30:14My token of life is going to...
30:19..Vidalia.
30:20Thank you. You're welcome. Thank you so much.
30:22And I'm sorry. That's OK. I'm so sorry.
30:24I feel like not choosing Vidalia would have been pretty poor form,
30:30given that he chose me yesterday.
30:32So I feel like that was a bit of a non-negotiable.
30:37Benjamin, please pick someone to join you in the deathmatch
30:40who does not have a token of life.
30:50Alison.
30:51I'm sorry, but I have to pick you.
30:53That's no problem at all.
30:55I would not willingly choose Ken and Charlotte for the deathmatch
30:58if I have any other options,
31:00because I think they're the two strongest people in the game.
31:03So it's obvious to me that the best strategic choice for me
31:07is to pick Alison.
31:09Is there anything at all I can do to sway that decision at all?
31:12Give her the token of life.
31:14But that choice has been made.
31:16We're in the position that we're in
31:18because Bex didn't put the last diamond in.
31:21We could have all been there with more garnets
31:24and three tokens of life.
31:26Oh, my God.
31:28Anything else at all?
31:30No, I'm not picking over Kenneth or Charlotte.
31:38I'll give you my full bag.
31:44Going to a deathmatch with Ben is interesting.
31:47He's a little bit of an unknown.
31:49But the two deathmatch victories show I won't lose without a fight.
31:54The deathmatch will begin shortly.
31:57Bex, I think, genuinely messed up.
31:59I don't think she meant to keep that diamond.
32:01It's really changed the outcome of who's going to the deathmatch.
32:04And that is very unlucky for their group.
32:08I'm so sorry.
32:10It's all right. Don't worry.
32:12Would have been handy if you'd put the other diamond in, you know.
32:16In the perfect world, Alison takes the win,
32:19Ben's out, and then tomorrow's a new day
32:21and I've got some making up to do.
32:24It's time to go on a hunt.
32:26For wild beasts, no.
32:28For treasure, no.
32:30For coloured symbols hidden behind loads of letters stuck on a board,
32:33that's the one.
32:34And look, it's more exciting than it sounds.
32:36Your deathmatch is Picture Hunt.
32:39In this game, players must use their memory
32:41to find matching picture tiles.
32:44In front of you is a board with 16 different letters on it.
32:48Behind each letter is a unique picture.
32:52Both players will have a conveyor belt
32:54of picture tiles in front of them
32:56and a marker which starts ten tiles away from the finish line.
33:00Players take it in turns to choose a picture tile.
33:03Each player has to choose a picture tile
33:07Players take it in turns to choose a letter from the board
33:10to reveal the picture behind.
33:13If the selected letter matches the tile,
33:15the player's marker will move forward one place
33:17and their turn will continue.
33:20However, when the selected picture does not match the tile,
33:24the conveyor belt will move back one space
33:27and a new tile will be added to the front of the conveyor belt.
33:31The turn will then pass to the other player.
33:35If a player reaches the finish line,
33:37they will be the winner of the deathmatch.
33:39But if a player is wrong too many times,
33:41their marker will fall off the end of the conveyor belt
33:44and they will be eliminated.
33:46The deathmatch will begin shortly.
33:51Wow.
33:52This is a pure memory game.
33:54It's pure memory.
33:55Alison is absolutely capable of running this board.
33:58She's obviously a formidable opponent,
34:00so that makes me slightly nervous.
34:02My resolve to make it far in this game
34:04is greater now than it ever has been,
34:06especially because I want revenge on Bex
34:08for putting me in this deathmatch.
34:10Oh, my Lord.
34:13It's probably 50-50, I think, this one.
34:16I've got no reason to think that Ben's any more confident
34:18or less confident than I am.
34:28Players, the time has come.
34:31The deathmatch will now begin.
34:44Benjamin, as deathmatch candidate,
34:47you may decide the starting player.
34:49I will go first, please.
34:51I'm choosing to go first because I think
34:53that I will reveal one letter,
34:55Alison will reveal a different letter,
34:57and we will continue revealing letters
34:59until I will have the first opportunity
35:01to hopefully memorize every symbol on the board
35:04and then move my picture all the way to the finish line.
35:07Benjamin, please choose a letter.
35:10R, please.
35:15That is incorrect.
35:16The conveyor belt will move back one space.
35:20Alison, please choose a letter.
35:22R, please.
35:27She just revealed the same one he did, right?
35:29Is that why?
35:30Yeah, but why?
35:31To not give away any information.
35:33Yeah.
35:35That is incorrect.
35:36The conveyor belt will move back one space.
35:38Every time I reveal the same letter,
35:40I'm going to reveal a different letter.
35:42That is incorrect.
35:43The conveyor belt will move back one space.
35:46Every time I reveal the same letter as him,
35:49he hasn't learned anything new.
35:51Every time he reveals a letter, I have learned something new.
35:54This is such an interesting way to do it.
35:56She could just win by attrition.
35:59Oh, no.
36:00Alison is clearly even more clever
36:03than I gave her credit for.
36:05This could be a very, very bad problem for me.
36:09G, please.
36:12That is incorrect.
36:15G, please.
36:17That is incorrect.
36:20M.
36:23That is incorrect.
36:25M, please.
36:27That is incorrect.
36:30He's flustered.
36:32I don't think he was expecting this.
36:34H.
36:35H, please.
36:38That is incorrect.
36:39The conveyor belt will move back one space.
36:44The thought flashes through my mind
36:46that I've just made a fool of myself.
36:48I'm going to be eliminated
36:49before I ever got a chance to play the game.
36:51There's too many letters and not enough guesses.
36:54U.
36:55U.
36:57That is incorrect.
37:00S.
37:01S, please.
37:03That is incorrect.
37:06My stomach is in knots.
37:10Benjamin, please choose a letter.
37:12P.
37:13Oh, my God, come on.
37:19Oh, that's the one.
37:30Benjamin, please choose a letter.
37:32P.
37:33Oh, my God, come on.
37:39Oh, that's the one.
37:42That is correct.
37:43You may move your marker forward one space.
37:49Benjamin, please choose another letter.
37:51She hasn't had a go yet.
37:52He did say last time, didn't he?
37:53But when you get one right, you keep going.
37:56So that's why he didn't have a go.
37:58P.
38:01That is incorrect.
38:02The conveyor belt will move back one space.
38:06She needs to start moving
38:07or he'll just start picking the same.
38:09It's basically swapped around now, isn't it?
38:11Ben's the one who struck it lucky
38:13and it's obvious tactic now for him
38:16to use the same strategy back at me.
38:18I'm going to have to play catch-up
38:20to try and uncover my green hourglass
38:22before he makes another move.
38:24Alison, please choose a letter.
38:27D.
38:30That is incorrect.
38:34Benjamin, please choose a letter.
38:36D.
38:38K.
38:39K.
38:46Y.
38:49Oh, she's got the one after.
38:51She does need that.
38:53That is incorrect.
38:56I took my eye off the ball a little bit
38:58and luck's not on my side,
39:00so I'm pretty much resigned
39:02to dropping off the end of the conveyor belt.
39:07Y.
39:09That is correct.
39:10You may move your marker forward one space.
39:12Please choose another letter, Benjamin.
39:14G.
39:16That is correct.
39:17You may move your marker forward one space.
39:20And now he also has green arrows.
39:22This is the problem with the strategy.
39:23Once you are behind, you're behind.
39:25Benjamin, please choose another letter.
39:27I'm in control of this game.
39:29At this point, I need the yellow arrows crisscrossing.
39:33I know that that symbol has not been revealed,
39:35so rather than pick a new letter
39:37that helps Alison potentially find what she needs,
39:39I go back to repeating a symbol that we've already seen.
39:42K.
39:44That is incorrect.
39:48Alison, please choose a letter.
39:50E, please.
39:53That is incorrect.
39:59R.
40:01That is incorrect.
40:06OK, she has one shot left.
40:09Alison, please choose a letter.
40:19O, please.
40:29That is correct.
40:30You may move your marker forward one space.
40:32Oh!
40:35OK.
40:36OK.
40:37It's starting, it's starting.
40:42Alison, please choose another letter.
40:50A, please.
40:52Was it A?
40:53Was it?
40:54No, we haven't seen A.
40:55Maybe she's just getting more information.
41:00That is incorrect.
41:03Benjamin, please choose a letter.
41:06C.
41:09That is correct.
41:10You may move your marker one space forward.
41:14Benjamin, please choose another letter.
41:16I see that I need the blue raspberry symbol.
41:19At least that's what I've called it.
41:21But I also know that Alison needs the blue raspberry symbol.
41:24And she's mistakenly gone for letter A,
41:27which I know is not where it is,
41:29She's mistakenly gone for letter A,
41:31which I know is not where it is, it's Y.
41:33And so on my turn, there's no way I'm going to reveal that symbol
41:37and help her.
41:38C.
41:39That is incorrect.
41:47Alison, please choose a letter.
41:53L, please.
41:59C.
42:05It's over.
42:06It's over.
42:09The death match is over.
42:11Benjamin, you are the winner.
42:18Alison, I'm really sorry.
42:19That's all right, don't worry.
42:20You're such a strong competitor and you deserve to make it further.
42:24I'm feeling really proud of myself
42:27for winning the death match.
42:29The past few games have not gone my way,
42:32so I was able to prove that I had the nerve and the composure
42:35to go up against somebody who was a very formidable opponent
42:38who had intimidated a lot of the other players.
42:40It's not your fault.
42:41It's not my fault.
42:42It's not your fault.
42:43It is.
42:44No.
42:45It literally is a direct result.
42:46No, you can't feel guilty for everything.
42:49It doesn't feel good to beat someone
42:51as great as you.
42:56It's always nice to win a death match,
42:58but I guess my luck ran out.
43:02You did really well.
43:03You were so close.
43:04I'm quite proud of the way I've played.
43:06There you go.
43:07When competition gets really hot,
43:09especially when, you know, there's expensive garnets involved,
43:13I think that can really shift people's mindset.
43:17I'm so, so sorry.
43:18It's OK.
43:19It's not.
43:20I'm so sorry.
43:22I just feel absolutely gutted.
43:23I really do.
43:24But if I could do anything to change it,
43:26I would do it in a heartbeat.
43:29It's like I feel great in the moment
43:31and then immediately after it's just regret.
43:34No regret.
43:35I'm playing a strong game.
43:38The game is over.
43:39The death match has claimed its latest victim.
43:42The game is over.
43:43The death match has claimed its latest victim.
43:46Benjamin, you have made it through to the next day.
43:49Alison, you have been the sixth person
43:51to be eliminated from Genius Game.
43:53Please give your garnets to your opponent.
43:55Thank you for playing.
43:57I love you.
44:00Well done.
44:03Sad to be leaving.
44:05Bex is responsible for my demise.
44:09I could have had one of those lovely little winged tokens of life.
44:13However, I know it's a genuine mistake
44:16and even if it wasn't, I would totally forgive her.
44:23You've done so well.
44:29Feels a bit thin on the ground now, doesn't it?
44:31Five of us.
44:32Final five.
44:33Final five.
44:34One match away from the final.
44:37We're at an all or nothing point now
44:39and I feel I'm the most all-rounded player.
44:43I'm definitely going to do whatever it takes to win.
44:46Well done, Ben.
44:47Thanks.
44:48We're at the very end of the ride.
44:50Five players remaining.
44:52I have no idea what's in store, but I'm here to win
44:55so I'll be ready for anything that gets thrown my way.
45:05Next time, it's the semi-final.
45:08At the end of today, three of you will be going home.
45:10I knew it!
45:11I knew it!
45:12In the main match, one person will be immediately eliminated.
45:16It's going to be pure psych out.
45:18This is so fun. Oh my God, this is so fun.
45:21I feel a little bit guilty, but if I win, who cares?
45:25Yeah, fuck off with that shit.
45:27And the remaining sports will be decided in a three-way death match.
45:33Three, two, one, zero.
45:38I'm so excited.
