00:00Good morning from Ottawa. Good afternoon in London. The King and the Queen currently flying across the Atlantic to where we are very historic at the first time you'll step foot on Canadian soil as the nation's sovereign.
00:12Lots of diplomacy going on, lots of awkward diplomacy going on with President Trump suggesting that Canada should be from the 51st state of the United States of America.
00:21We've got some lives this morning. Then we've got to run off and get our accreditation. And then, of course, we've got to go and film all the engagements.
00:29And what a beautiful backdrop we've got for our lives this morning of Canada's Parliament.
00:34So done our lives for Good Afternoon Britain and Martin Dornley's show on GB News.
00:39Now just heading down the lift from my hotel balcony to go and collect accreditation, grab some lunch, get in the minibus, be taken to the airport ahead of the King's arrival.
00:48It's all go, very busy, as usual, on a Royal Tour. But I've got to be on jet lag, so that's always a good thing.
00:55Well, welcome to a massive hangar, somewhere just outside of Ottawa, a minibus race, boys and the King's arrival, waiting in a big queue to get food security, the glamour of telling.
01:06Well, living the highlight here in Ottawa, beautiful sunny weather, got our own little platform here, might as well do a bit of sunbathing.
01:13It's actually so we can be on a level to go live on GB News later on today when the King arrives.
01:19This plane, of course, is going to be at the other side of that tarmac there. Beautiful lounge in there as well.
01:24A nice little spread, apparently. Some drinks and snacks for us as well.
01:27I've got my lemonade to keep me going this afternoon. So, yeah, we'll see you on GB News shortly.
01:32Right, we've hot-putted it from the airport to Rideau 4, which is the Governor-General's message here in Canada.
01:38King and Queen will be arriving, planting a tree, catching up with some people who are actually at Queen Elizabeth II's coronation in 1953, and, of course, greeting crowds.
01:47So many people have been queuing here since about 10.30 this morning, so you really can see the dedication, I think, for Canadian people towards their head of state.
01:55So, yeah, let's see how it goes.
01:57So, back from Rideau Hall, changed because it was way too hot. It's very sunny outside.
02:03Back in the hotel room. It's a very nice hotel room, actually. I'm very lucky.
02:07Now I am... Oh, I can't show you my emails, but I'm writing... There you go.
02:12An article for the GB News website all about Canadians being very angry with Donald Trump, but also the hope that King Charles appears to have given them.
02:22There seems to be very little protest. A very small one, but just a little one.
02:28Most people were there to support the King and Queen.
02:31So, I've got to try and bash this article out as quickly as possible.
02:34I then need to look at some of the footage, because we obviously get so much footage,
02:38and we can only put so much in a two-minute package for GB News Breakfast.
02:43So, we need to... I need to work out exactly what footage can go in and what can't,
02:47and what interviews can go in and what can't.
02:49An amazing interview we had with a lovely lady who was celebrating her 100th birthday today,
02:53called Betty, who met the King and Queen, and got a personal card from Their Majesty.
02:57So, I need to perhaps get that in. If not, it will be on GB News' websites or YouTube or something.
03:03And then, of course, we've got this awful instance in Liverpool,
03:07where a car appears to have ploughed into Liverpool fans celebrating their win.
03:14We may or may not get a statement from the King.
03:18We've had him by Minister and the Home Secretary.
03:20It's a possibility, so I need to be on the lookout for that as well.
03:24But he's currently in a meeting with the Governor-General and Mark Carney.
03:27So, I'll let you know when I do.
03:30Well, good morning. Day two, final day of King and Queen's visit to Ottawa.
03:34Arguably the most important day, because King will be opening the 50th session of the Canadian Parliament.
03:39This is the Tempour Senate building.
03:42It used to be a train station, but the current Senate is being refurbished at the moment,
03:46so it's happening in there.
03:47They're going to arrive in a carriage, so lots of pomp, lots of pageantry.
03:50Of course, you've got all the media rises as well, where all of the world's press will be standing.
03:55The crowds have already started gathering, of course, a few hours to go, really, until they arrive.
04:00Maybe the King and Queen will go and greet them.
04:02The weather is glorious.
04:03I've got my Tim Hortons coffee, so comes in blame.
04:06Well, that was pretty exhausting.
04:10It had been an amazing few days in Canada, covering the King and Queen's visit.
04:16Chaos of some pool jobs, particularly for the walkabouts, where the King and Queen meet members of the public,
04:24because there was just so many security guards, so many Canadian press, so...
04:32Well, actually, not many British press, but it was a bit of a scrum, put it that way.
04:37But it was all good.
04:38Written the package, voice package, currently being edited by producer extraordinaire Tom Fredericks.
04:44I've written an online piece, which is now out on the GB News website.
04:46I've just sent digital team some assets, some videos for them to do things with.
04:53We obviously managed to doorstep Mark Carney, Tom and I, and Ben, cameraman.
04:58So, writing all of that up.
05:00I'm about to send a link for the package in the morning.
05:03Oh, that's my hotel room, by the way.
05:04It's massive.
05:06And, yes, then hopefully a chill evening before we fly back to London tomorrow.
05:11Barry, thanks for joining me yet again on another behind-the-scenes video diary tour of...
05:16Video diary tour?
05:19A video diary of the Royal Tour.
05:21Until next time, there's some, hopefully, some great trips coming up, probably in the autumn.
05:25I need a summer holiday to recover first.
05:28But, yes, in the autumn, we'll be back with another foreign tour, or two, maybe.
05:33Stay tuned.
05:41So...
05:45...
05:46...
05:50...
05:51...
06:01...
