Salesforce announced Tuesday it will acquire cloud data management firm Informatica in a cash-and-debt deal valued at $8 billion to strengthen its artificial intelligence strategy. According to CNBC, Salesforce CTO Steve Fisher said combining Informatica's metadata tools with Agent Force enables trustworthy, autonomous AI by providing deep data understanding. Salesforce plans to integrate Informatica’s data management services with its Agentforce AI platform to enhance its AI capabilities. The acquisition continues Salesforce’s strategy of expanding its product offerings through major deals. Previous acquisitions include Slack, Tableau, and MuleSoft. Shares of Salesforce rose over 1%on Tuesday, while Informatica gained 6%.
