OpenAI has topped CNBC's 2023 Disruptor 50 list as it significantly impacts human interactions with AI and has caused AI's adoption across industries. OpenAI's CEO, Sam Altman, believes AI will influence, disrupt, and accelerate every sector. OpenAI currently generates revenue from two sources: charging companies for access to its platform as enterprise software and offering a premium chat app to consumers for $20 per month in addition to a free version. Its customers include Salesforce, Snapchat, and Microsoft. Microsoft's cumulative investment in OpenAI is reportedly $13 billion, and the company's valuation is as high as $29 billion. Half of the companies that made CNBC's list incorporate critical uses of AI across various sectors.
