00:00We've seen a lot of underdogs win.
00:02Bologna have 51 years after they last won a trophy.
00:06We can go on and on.
00:07Newcastle United, 70 years since they last won a trophy.
00:11And our Paris Saint-Germain have never won the UEFA Champions League before.
00:16And now they face Inter.
00:18So where do you see this going?
00:19This season has been a very different season when it comes to football.
00:24And we've been having histories changing.
00:28And new teams arising, winning the trophies.
00:32And let's see.
00:33We don't know.
00:34It can go Inter way.
00:36It could go PSG way.
00:38The UEFA Champions League final is heading to Munich on Saturday.
00:42And of course, it's all about Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Milan.
00:45Slugging it out to be European champion this season.
00:49Here's a preview of the game.
00:50My name is Ayo Medeshotubo and this is The Nomek here on Guardian TV.
00:58Yeah, so a quick one.
00:59Ogan joins us in this episode of The Nomek.
01:02And it's all about the UEFA Champions League final.
01:05And we've seen a lot of underdogs this season, Ogan.
01:08Great to have you, by the way.
01:09We've seen a lot of underdogs win.
01:12Bologna have 51 years after they last won a trophy.
01:16We can go on and on.
01:17Newcastle United, 70 years since they last won a trophy.
01:21And our Paris Saint-Germain have never won the UEFA Champions League before.
01:26And now they face Inter.
01:28So where do you see this going, bearing the nature of the season that we've experienced so far?
01:33First and foremost, I'd like to say that these guys, they deserve it.
01:38The Boots team, they deserve it.
01:40They've been through ups and downs in this campaign.
01:44And you know, this is the first time we're having this structure of matches for Champions League.
01:49And we are seeing that, okay, these two teams get to the final.
01:54We don't most times see them get to the final most times.
01:57You know, Paris Saint-Germain, I think they've been to the final of the Champions League, I think twice.
02:02The last three years.
02:03And this is it.
02:05It's another opportunity for them to win.
02:07So they deserve it.
02:08And also, Inter Milan, you know, they were in finals against Manchester City and they lost 1-0 in the final.
02:16So they also deserve to be there.
02:18But as it were, we can say that history play itself, you know, this season has been a very different season when it comes to football.
02:28And then we've been having histories changing and new teams, you know, arising, winning the trophies.
02:36And we'll see.
02:38We don't know.
02:39It can go Inter way, it could go PSG way.
02:42But talking about Inter now, you know, the kind of season they've had.
02:47They have faced disappointment in the domestic scene, having to concede the Scudetto to Napoli.
02:52And now this is their only chance for Silva, where also they were knocked out of the Coppa Italia as well.
02:58You know, how important is it that they win this final to make their season a good one?
03:02You know that at the end of the day, when you start a journey, you always want to finish it.
03:08And not just finish it, but finish it well.
03:11And they've started the journey.
03:12I believe that there are many players in Inter today that after the Champions League final,
03:17they'll be, some of them will retire, some of them will leave the club.
03:21The contracts are running down.
03:23And I believe that they will want to leave on a high note, which is winning the Champions League that they've not won in years.
03:30And they've actually fought their way to get into this final.
03:34So definitely, they want to win it.
03:37Okay, so two more questions before we leave the set.
03:40First off, the Ballon d'Or.
03:43It seems, you know, in recent years that the Champions League has decided the Ballon d'Or now.
03:48Should the winner be coming from any of these two teams?
03:51And if that was the case, who would you pick?
03:54Well, last season I told us that I believe that the person who should have gone with the Ballon d'Or should have been Martínez.
04:04Lotharo Martínez.
04:05Lotharo Martínez, because he actually did so well in domestic football and also both country and club.
04:12He was part of the success of Argentina and he was also part of the success of Inter Milan.
04:17And him being in the final now, this season he has been fantastic also.
04:24But we have other factors, not just the Champions League most times.
04:28We know that Champions League season is always a determinant and we also know that World Cup is also a determinant.
04:34But I can say that there are other factors because coaches and captains will be the ones to decide these ones.
04:42So, let's see how it goes. There are several candidates that are actually, you know, top notch.
04:48Or you picked Martínez.
04:49I picked Martínez last season.
04:51But what are you going with now?
04:52This season, I don't think I'm going with Martínez because I believe that this season,
04:56Dembele has actually made an impact for his team.
05:00They've won two trophies, as we speak, and winning the Champions League definitely it is tuning to Dembele.
05:09And also, we also have the likes of Rafian from Barcelona who did not get to the final.
05:16But his impact in Barcelona this season, winning three trophies, has actually made a huge stick in the board.
05:25And then there's Lamine Yama as well.
05:26But let's move away from the Ballon d'Or compensation.
05:28Last question and quick one.
05:30Who are your favourites to win the Champions League on Saturday night?
05:34Well, if you look at the experience, I say that Inter should win it based on experience.
05:41But if you look at who needs it more, I'll go with Paris Saint-Germain.
05:47So Paris Saint-Germain is your answer?
05:49Paris Saint-Germain.
05:49Well then, of course, we have all GANSE in Paris Saint-Germain who just clinched their first
05:54UEFA Champions League final.
05:56Let's know what your own thoughts are in the comment section.
