Full video: What Depression Is Not || Acharya Prashant, with IIM Nagpur (2022)
Transcript
00:00When there is something very engaging and very real in the present, then the future does not seem to hold much value.
00:10When the present is starving, has nothing to offer you, is extremely poor, then you have no option but to turn to the future.
00:18So you say, right now there is anyway nothing to support me or console me or give me joy.
00:26So what do I start doing?
00:27I start imagining, envisioning the future, this is what I'll get, this is what I'll do.
00:32What if that does not happen? Oh my God.
00:34And all kinds of hopes and scares raise their head.
00:38The problem is this starved present.
00:42The problem is this bare bones present.
00:46Nothing in it, no flesh, denuded.
00:48It has no nutrition, it has no body, it has no health, it has no aura, it has no charm.
00:54It has nothing that can make you fall in love with it.
