00:24If there is anything to learn from this Jewish history,

00:30it's that when we push people

00:32out of our schools

00:34because of their identity,

00:36it's a symptom of a morally bankrupt politics.

00:40That is why

00:44the administration's excuse

00:46for these policies,

00:48that they somehow address anti-Semitism,

00:50are so absurd.

00:52Let's be clear.

00:54This has nothing to do

00:56with combating anti-Semitism.

01:00Anti-Semitism is a real problem.

01:02It's a problem at Harvard.

01:04It's a problem in our country.

01:06But these policies will do nothing

01:08to combat this age-old hatred.

01:10Instead, they are designed

01:12to divide us apart.

01:14And so I'm here today

01:16to tell you that the Jewish community

01:18rejects this administration's narrative.

01:20Freedom of speech and due process,

01:22these are the foundations

01:24of the American system.

01:26These are the foundations

01:28of a free society.

01:30But Donald Trump is attacking these freedoms

01:32but they get in the way

01:34of his authoritarian takeover.

01:36This is what authoritarians do.

01:38Trump has begun a dangerous march

01:42to roll back civil rights in this country.

01:44We've seen his vicious, racist attacks

01:48on speech and diversity

01:50and his alliance

01:52with far-right billionaires

01:54who amplify fascist rhetoric.

01:56The attack on Harvard

01:58and its international students

02:00is part of a deeper effort

02:02to disfund and dismantle

02:04the academic world.

02:06attempt to re-root our brightest researchers

02:08into private corporations,

02:10stripping academic institutions

02:11of their power.

02:12Why don't they try to ruin their happiness?
