Transcript
00:00Thank you, Minister.
00:08We're so very honored that the Secretary is here.
00:13To our knowledge, it is the first time that a Cabinet Secretary has been here on Yom Yerushalayim,
00:21a very significant day here in Jerusalem.
00:24And we're grateful for her presence and the fact that the President has asked her to come
00:29not only to be here to represent him and the United States,
00:34but also to offer personal condolences to the families of Yaron and Sarah.
00:41Their lives were taken from them last week.
00:44Their lives should have been celebrated this week
00:47as they were going to become engaged here in Israel and plan for a life together.
00:55Instead, because of an act of hateful terrorism,
00:59their lives were taken from them.
01:02But their memories will not be taken from any of us.
01:06And we should always be mindful that there are people who pay an incredible price
01:11to simply be Israelis and Jews.
01:16And it's why the United States must always stand.
01:19And it's why it's so very important that we welcome the Secretary here to the State of Israel
01:25as she comes to offer in person an extraordinary sense not just of condolences,
01:33but also a sense of confidence that the relationship between our nations will never waver
01:40or will it ever falter.
01:42And so, Madam Secretary, thank you.
01:45Thank you for being here in person, for identifying the United States back home.
01:52This is Memorial Day, which means we honor those who died giving their lives
01:57for the service of the United States and giving us our freedom.
02:00We come on this day to recognize that every day someone in the service of Israel
02:10falls in the battle to keep your nation free.
02:14We will not forget that.
