00:00A warning for drivers in South Gloucestershire. A concerning scam is making the rounds. Motorists
00:06are being tricked into handling over hundreds of pounds after being falsely accused of damaging
00:13another vehicle. Here's how it works. You're driving along when you hear a loud noise from
00:19the passenger side of your car concerning you pull over only to be approached by someone
00:25claiming you've hit their wing mirror. They show you the damage and demand immediate payment
00:32for repairs. In some cases, victims have withdrawn cash from nearby ATMs to settle the supposed
00:40damage. I kind of really just keep to myself. Like, if I don't have a clue what's going on,
00:46I won't really engage a bit. And then, like, if it's still, like, on my mind, I may be happy
00:50I'll do something I get home. But for the most part, if it's foreign to me, I won't engage.
00:54Which I would just, like, it's really like it doesn't exist.
00:58Gloucestershire Conspiracy has received multiple reports of this scam, particularly in areas
01:03like Reservoir Road in Gloucestershire and Brooklyn Road in Cheltenham. Police are urging motorists
01:09to remain vigilant. If you're involved in an incident like this, do not hand over any money
01:15on the spot. Instead, gather as much information as possible, take note of the other vehicles'
01:21make, model and registration number, and capture photos of any damage. Report the incident to
01:29your insurer and contact the police with the details.
01:32I'm aware of it, but our problem here, really, is damage to the car by other people. And our
01:39cars have been broken into quite regularly. But scam-wise, no. I haven't come across anything.
01:44Not in any recent memory, no. I think, I think, I would like to think we all, like, think similarly
01:51and we won't fall for stuff like that. It has been, my car's been broken into four times,
01:56and my equipment has been stolen, which cost me £4,000. Contact the police, they're not interested.
02:03You live in a nice area, you're worth a lot of money, pay for it yourself. They're really not
02:08interested. And I have got CCTV around the house, and they won't view it, they'll have nothing to do with it.
02:13But, this isn't the only financial problem many local drivers are facing. Drivers in Bristol
02:21will now pay more to park in Bristol's city centre.
02:24Uh, not in my place. I live in Clifton, so I have parking. So, like, in Park Street, it's very expensive.
02:32Anywhere in between city centre, it's very expensive to park.
02:36Um, yeah, no, I don't like that. If the prices are going up, it seems, uh, yeah, it doesn't seem right
02:42to get rid of that at the same time.
02:45I believe, like, do it a little bit free, so that, I don't think so, like, parking, uh,
02:52I have been parking a lot of here and there, and it's very expensive in Park Street.
02:57It's, like, insanely expensive.
