00:00They got a lot of riders this year.
00:03See the 19 of Jordan Smith, their results in moto one, smith 13th.
00:07Harvick jumping into pro motocross, the Danish rider this year in America, 15th, and then
00:12Robertson and Fortner were at the back of the field as tough for them in moto one.
00:19But it's a reset moto two now, 30 minutes and two laps as always the duration in pro
00:25motocross.
00:28It's going to be quite a bit different this moto.
00:31Got to start in front of that number one if you can.
00:37Moto two, let's go!
00:41It's all ktm's up front this time.
00:49The allen bomer, one, two.
00:53Like hayden slides into the third spot.
00:55He might try to make a move on these guys while they're battling.
00:59There he is, positioned on the inside.
01:03Right-hand corner coming up.
01:05And bomer momentarily had vial.
01:09Vial fights back.
01:10That was a good move by Julian right there.
01:13If you went to the outside, hayden would have closed him off.
01:15I wasn't sure what he was going to do.
01:17Good move by him.
01:18If you're tom vial, this is what you want.
01:21Maybe have some speed in that first moto but never was that close to hayden.
01:24If you're joe shimoda, you know what to do.
01:27You were trying to get out of men's supercross.
01:28You rode the best out of these guys.
01:31These guys are going at it early.
01:33Shimoda right there on the 30 in fourth, pressing degan.
01:36Now degan inside of bomer.
01:38Crisscrossing all over the racetrack.
01:40I love these lines.
01:44Outside worked out pretty good for Julian.
01:45He was able to close back in on his teammate.
01:48These early laps have been a mad scramble today in the 250s.
01:53Almost lost the front end right there, I was going to say.
01:56He made the pass anyway.
01:59From mistake to the lead, bomer.
02:03Good job by juju.
02:04The rider out of lake harris, havasu, arizona.
02:07Did shimoda get degan?
02:09He temporarily got him.
02:10Looks like hayden got him back on there.
02:13I wonder did hayden get stuck in one of those where we saw tom vial.
02:17He followed him down to inside.
02:18Maybe he got stuck and joe went around.
02:20Makes his way.
02:21I like the aggressiveness I see from joe early in the race in the moto.
02:26It's a whole new joe as far as that is concerned.
02:28Early in the races, early in the season.
02:30He's getting aggressive.
02:31Those are the knocks against him in previous years.
02:34He has rectified that.
02:35Bomer, if he can hold this to the end of the lap, and it's going to be close because vial
02:41is right there, yes, first career lap lead in pro motocross for juju.
02:48This is a great opportunity.
02:49These guys know it's going to be a long race because hayden is going to be there the whole
02:54time.
02:55Hopefully for them, maybe joe can get up there and slow that pace.
02:57We heard hayden say he was just being very patient in the beginning part, letting the
03:00race come to him.
03:01You see they put some water down.
03:04It makes it really tricky in these conditions, especially in the second moto as the track
03:07dries out.
03:08We've told the story of bomer many times.
03:11His dad was a great jet ski mechanic, worked for jet ski racing teams, moved to america.
03:17From france to work in jet ski racing, and eventually juju became a heck of a jet ski
03:23racer himself.
03:24Didn't really take the motocross thing as seriously until probably about 13, 14 years
03:30old.
03:31It's a little later than most, but he is all in now, and what a rider he has become, and
03:37same thing for shimoda.
03:38He is not giving deegan any room.
03:42Beautiful line by joe.
03:43Going a little bit farther inside than where hayden was.
03:46Really smooth.
03:47Set him up better for the next one, so pay attention to that.
03:50Joe knows he wants to try to get around hayden early in this moto, not let anything settle
03:55in.
03:56He might have an opportunity here.
03:57I like this outside line.
03:59Hayden closed him on off.
04:00Good move by him.
04:01And seth hamaker watching this right in front of him, and shimoda throwing it all on deegan.
04:09Let's see what happens right here.
04:10I believe joe might have made a pass on hayden.
04:13Hayden might have followed tom bial on the inside.
04:16They all go outside.
04:17So that inside must be very difficult and deep for those guys because they all funneled
04:22in the same line, so he's got to find somewhere else.
04:27He's trying.
04:28Oh, wow.
04:29And there's ruts going down that hill.
04:36That was actually a pretty great move by joe to cut across those ruts.
04:39Deegan made a mistake coming out of the turn.
04:42Shimoda almost got him again.
04:44This is what you've got to do if you're joe.
04:46You've got to pressure him.
04:47Hayden is probably not used to putting as much pressure or getting as much pressure
04:51from guys.
04:52He's used it the opposite way around.
04:53This is what joe needs to do, and he's literally right on his rear fender.
04:57I love this.
04:59With the two-moto format, as always in pro motocross, if shimoda beats deegan, he can
05:04win the overall today.
05:05But he wins the moto.
05:08So there's plenty of motivation for the 30.
05:10Yeah, I think at this point they're not even worried about that.
05:13I think joe is building that confidence just by staying there, and he should be.
05:16He's the only one keeping hayden actually closing in on him in that first moto, so joe
05:22should feel pretty confident.
05:23He said he was ready to go.
05:27You go back a couple years ago, jason, remember joe came out here after that moto, he got
05:31into it with hunter lawrence and put the beat down on these guys, and he's with mitch
05:35bayton.
05:36So he's been trying to ride these tracks.
05:39There was a time, I think, where shimoda, as the lawrence brothers are winning titles
05:42and eventually graduated into the 450 class, and shimoda might have been considered maybe
05:47the top next 250 guy.
05:50He's been good but not quite to that standard the last year and a half, but he's on fire
05:54right now, jt.
05:55That's right, weegee.
05:56If you think about joe shimoda and his history here, he used to win in california going back
06:01to his geico honda days.
06:02This was his primary practice track.
06:04There were documentaries where he was here every single practice day.
06:08They offered putting in the laps, trying to hone his skills.
06:11Go back to last year, how fast he was in that final moto, it shouldn't be a shock how good
06:16he is here.
06:17This is a track that's sneaky good for joe shimoda, so I think he feels very comfortable.
06:21And then degan, of course, grew up here as well.
06:23So maybe the two riders with the most experience on this track, although bowmair out of arizona
06:29certainly spent some time here, and he's showing it right now.
06:32Bowmair has actually opened it to two seconds on v.L.
06:38He's out of the shot right now.
06:39Yeah, julian putting in some great laps, and you wonder if tom making a mistake or julian
06:43just getting away from him because he's definitely putting it in, and you wouldn't think he would
06:47have that much more pace because tom looked pretty good, but nonetheless, ktm is working
06:53good.
06:54Both of them out front, one and two.
06:56And then heim is third in moto one, only ninth right now after the bad start.
07:02Degan working v.L. Now.
07:04Yeah, hating to me, as long as joe's not putting it in a wheel, he looks pretty calm to me.
07:10You know, I don't think he's really too worried about these guys.
07:13He's got a nice gap.
07:14Julian, yeah, you can let him go, but he knows by the end of the race he's probably going
07:17to get back to him.
07:18So had a little tear off stuck on his hand right there.
07:24Yeah, because degan has been so strong in the motos late in the race, the last year
07:28or so, how much more patience does that give you in the early laps?
07:32I mean, it gives you a lot.
07:33I mean, at this point, I don't think he's concerned about who's out front as long as
07:37that gap stays there, and he just knows, I think he believes he's the best in shape.
07:42He has the history of being able to get these guys.
07:44So as long as, again, like I mentioned, joe shimoda or somebody's not running a wheel
07:47on him, worried about taking him out, hayden's fine.
07:51Another rider to watch is at the back of this battle, garrett marchbanks has had the
07:55fastest lap of this race, two laps in a row.
07:58He's up to fifth just behind shimoda now, and there he is.
08:02Yeah, you saw hayden take a look back in that corner, and that just further proves my point
08:08where he's not even necessarily worried about who's out front.
08:11He just wants to make sure he can take his line to let this race go in, and he'll get
08:15there eventually.
08:16But, yeah, good to see garrett up.
08:17He rode great in practice.
08:20I thought he rode great in the first moto, so now it's about a better start.
08:23Let's see what he can do with it.
08:26Boehmer, 2.8-second lead.
08:34And in the bottom, that's marchbanks now closing on shimoda.
08:39If you notice these guys, they're running a lot more outsides in their second moto, and
08:42I think the reason is because, one, the track's getting really choppy, but those ruts on the
08:47inside are getting those l-shapes, and on the 250, because they get stuck in there,
08:51they're losing so much power.
08:52So maybe they watched a video in between practice and realized these insides aren't really working
08:57out, especially if you lose the toe and you make a mistake in the bottom.
09:00You lose a lot of time around this racetrack.
09:05Yeah, it was that outside that put boehmer into the lead originally over vial, and he
09:09just keeps on stretching it.
09:13Starting to close back in on him.
09:15He is, and marchbanks right there with him.
09:17You can see in that bottom box, marchbanks in green in the monster pro circuit talisaki.
09:24Now degan really leaning on vial.
09:26Yeah, he stayed on the outside, so missed that bump.
09:30Now he's got a good line right here.
09:32I like how he's squaring that up because it just opens up this next corner.
09:36Now he's able to cut back in on the inside, and so for him, maybe it's not quicker at
09:40this moment, but it's a lot easier on the body, and eventually that line is going to
09:45come into form, and he's got to get him.
09:54A furious first ten minutes of this one.
09:57Degan really putting the attack on vial now for second place.
10:02All right, let's see what happens.
10:03I was going to say, if hayden is going to square him up or just go around the outside
10:06of him, another opportunity, slingshot this thing, so if he can get a run, maybe he can
10:12get back towards the inside, kind of blew that corner.
10:15Tom got out of that one pretty good, so a nice move by hayden, and he's going to try
10:19to get back to the inside of vial.
10:21Maybe he can get back towards the inside, kind of blew that corner.
10:24Tom got out of that one pretty good, so a nice move by him.
10:28Keep it up.
10:28I thought hayden was going to be able to get closer to him.
10:33And degan funnels back to the inside.
10:36Shimoda still in it.
10:39It's great racing right now.
10:40Yeah.
10:42Oh, that's a nice, sneaky line.
10:44Tom went on the inside.
10:45The inside right there.
10:46I love that.
10:48And that worked.
10:49Yeah, no, it worked, because he didn't have that L shape, so he went in a rut that wasn't
10:53more normal compared to the other ones, and it allows joe to come back up.
10:58Yeah, look at joe.
11:00J.T., what do you got from the mechanics area?
11:03Well, hayden degan's teammate, nate thrasher, not out there at the moment.
11:07He got run over apparently in mode 01.
11:10They were worried about some possible internal injuries, rib injuries, so they have taken
11:14him to the hospital for further evaluation to the end of the day for the 41 of thrasher.
11:18A bummer to hear that.
11:20Shimoda attacking degan, who's right there with miau.
11:24And now we have heard that chance hymus has put in the fastest lap of the race.
11:28He is in eighth after the bad start.
11:30Can he get to this group?
11:32Yeah, you notice when hayden went down the inside on that corner going down that downhill,
11:36normally as he makes a move.
11:39He caught tom sleeping right there.
11:41He got on the inside.
11:42But hayden went down the inside of that last corner, and then he snuck back and just went
11:46straight to the outside.
11:47Because as I mentioned, the inside has been slower.
11:49Now it's up to joe shimoda to try to get around tom if he wants a chance.
11:54That was beautiful.
11:57Critical juncture for vial, shimoda and march banks.
12:02Trying to go with degan.
12:05Just been going around the outside here.
12:08Everybody funnels back into the inside right here.
12:10So definitely tricky.
12:21Track looks pretty difficult right now.
12:23It looks like I'm glad to be in this booth.
12:27And they are tiptoeing through some of these sections.
12:29It makes it difficult here because you can see how hard it is on the bottom and the bikes.
12:34You can see all the handlebars.
12:35It's like you've got a jackhammer.
12:37But then you have this loose soil on top.
12:39So it makes it really slippery.
12:41It's a tricky racetrack when it comes down.
12:43It has so many different conditions.
12:45You've got ruts, you've got a flat hard pack.
12:47You've got loose stuff on it.
12:49The guys are doing a good job.
12:51But as this race goes on, that's what it's going to be like.
12:53Degan slipping away now.
12:55You see that line that tom has.
12:57The inside of the inside.
12:59Yeah.
13:01It's just a rut.
13:03It's a long rut.
13:05But it's straight.
13:07So those guys, it's not killing their momentum.
13:09Joe has been really quick on this side of the track.
13:11He's got a flat hard pack.
13:13He's got loose stuff on it.
13:15He's doing a good job.
13:17But as this race goes on, that's only going to get more harder for him.
13:19Degan slipping away now.
13:21Joe has been really quick on this side of the track.
13:23As they close back in on hayden.
13:29Inside of the inside.
13:31There for shimoda.
13:33And it works.
13:35Yeah, that was a mistake by tom.
13:37It looked like tom got confused on what line he wanted to go.
13:39He was too far on the outside to get to the inside.
13:41But then he tried going there.
13:43And he got stuck in the middle.
13:45Nice move by joe not following.
13:47And then you saw march banks got into the back of vial.
13:49Yeah.
13:51And he has to reset.
13:59And one more piece of this is hymus back in eighth.
14:01He is turning the fast lap times.
14:03Third in moto one.
14:05Could really affect things as far as championship points.
14:07Overall podiums.
14:09Things like that.
14:11Can he make some moves.
14:13You have march banks fifth.
14:15Hamaker sixth.
14:17Hamaker seventh.
14:19Then hymus.
14:21I like the line tom just switched up right there.
14:23One thing tom does great.
14:25I think this is probably what he learned over in europe.
14:27He is not stuck in a run.
14:29He will regroup on here.
14:31Some guys get past.
14:33They continue to go backwards.
14:35I feel like tom, if he stays here, he has to learn from these guys.
14:37Switch his lines up.
14:39Maybe have a chance to get back up on them.
14:41A gap that came down to less than two seconds up front.
14:43That second half of the race is looming.
14:45That's often where degan does his best work.
14:47As he tries to catch the leader.
14:49Julian bowman.
14:51The yowl here in third.
14:53Actually fourth after the pass from shimoda.
14:55You can see at the top.
14:57Hymus has caught.
14:59Different systems.
15:01He has to get back up.
15:03He has to get back up.
15:05He has to get back up.
15:07He has to get back up.
15:09You can see at the top.
15:11Hymus has caught.
15:13Defrancisco.
15:15For seventh.
15:17That was actually from dan silvan.
15:21Love listening to this motorcycle.
15:25Especially the 250 class.
15:27These things out half way through the moto.
15:29A reminder that monster energy available now.
15:31At stator brothers markets.
15:33This is the race leader.
15:37It's almost like clockwork, Hayden Deegan wasted that 15-minute mark and turned up the
15:47knobs like he did in the first moto.
15:50These guys know that history plays a part in this role.
15:54Doesn't matter what they believe, Hayden believes and he's showing it again.
15:57This is dangerous for these guys.
15:59As we say at number 30, Joe is right there.
16:02Oh, yeah.
16:04Sector 5, Deegan has the fastest time on the track, but, yeah, Shimoda, and again, if Shimoda
16:10can follow Deegan through, Shimoda wins this moto, he wins the overall because he was second
16:17in moto one.
16:18And he is not out of it.
16:20No, he's not.
16:22He's got some good lines, but it's got to be different for him.
16:24J.T.
16:25All right.
16:26Just thinking about Hayden Deegan, the conversation we had after moto one, and I mentioned to him
16:29it seems like you just manage for the first 15 and then take advantage for the second
16:3515.
16:36It seems like that same game plan is playing out here.
16:37Maybe get a bumper sticker for that, but I'll tell you what, Joe Shimoda is having none
16:41of that at the moment.
16:42He has come back to the fight.
16:43Yeah, Joe, he's not playing.
16:46I mean, he looks very aggressive and, yeah, we can say history, he's done well on this
16:50racetrack, but, again, the fight, go up against Hayden, second moto, the way he rode that
16:54first.
16:55We didn't talk about Joe coming in here, so maybe that upset him.
17:00I love what I see for the number 30 at HRC today.
17:04And Joe just set the fastest lap of the race into the second half of the race, no less.
17:10But meanwhile, Deegan knows, slouch, he has suddenly caught Boehmerer and is going for
17:14the lead.
17:15Yeah, I think Hayden is probably going to start cranking up the screws on Julian because
17:19he knows Joe is right there.
17:21Joe is probably going to be there for the end of the moto, so let's go ahead and try
17:23to put a couple laps.
17:24If I can get around Julian, maybe he'll get held up, he'll hold Joe up because this ain't
17:29true.
17:30I haven't seen Joe out here riding today.
17:31No doubt about that.
17:34Rejuvenated Joe.
17:35The number 30 is pushing Hayden Deegan forward also, so you can see right now.
17:39And Shavoda still there.
17:40They've pulled a little bit on Viala and March Banks.
17:44Hymus now up to seventh behind Hamaker.
17:46Yeah, Hayden is taking that Tom Viala on the inside right there.
17:52Oh, Deegan cuts from left to right.
18:04Drag race through the rollers.
18:05Let's see what Julian does.
18:06He's got to make a decision whether he goes inside or outside.
18:10There you go.
18:11Play a little defense right there.
18:12You better get back up towards inside.
18:14Hayden is going to get you if you don't.
18:16He's got it.
18:17There he is.
18:18And Shavoda is right there.
18:21He's going to try to put in another lap and a half and see if he can get a gap, maybe
18:33try to break him.
18:35What he wants is Julian to hold Joe up at this point.
18:41This is a must for Shavoda if he wants a shot at the overall.
18:45That was nice by Joe right there hopping over these bumps.
19:01Look at my number 16, Tom Viala.
19:04He picked up some lines up there and starting to keep it close, J.T.
19:09Hayden, you watch these battles and these guys want to get cheeky with Hayden and play
19:13in this cat and mouse game.
19:15The problem is it always feels like Hayden in this situation is like a saber tooth tiger
19:19and a mouse.
19:20He just knows what they're going to do before they do.
19:22He has an answer for every situation.
19:24I have not yet to see a dynamic where somebody wants to engage in those tactics with Hayden
19:29where he doesn't come out ahead.
19:30Absolutely not.
19:31We can sit here and say you want a piece of him, but really some of these guys ain't about
19:38that life.
19:39They don't want that smoke.
19:40Hayden knows.
19:41Again, I think he feels comfortable in this spot.
19:43This is that second moto.
19:46History would say this is where he does his best work.
19:49These guys know it's up to them to try to change that narrative.
19:52I like Joe.
19:53I like his body language and how aggressive he is on his motorcycle.
19:58With all that being said, he let that number one get away from him.
20:00It's going to be all for nothing to be another second place finish and get around Julian.
20:06Huge improvement for Boehmeyer today.
20:09This is an indicator of what he has in year two in pro moto cross after his rookie campaign
20:15last year.
20:17No time to rest on the laurels.
20:20Joe has been really quick in this section.
20:22He funnels in behind Julian.
20:24See if he can make that same pass Hayden did.
20:28He's close enough.
20:29He's going to force Julian to go to the inside to protect him.
20:31No, he wasn't close enough.
20:33Now he's going to dive in there.
20:38Shimoda has got a wheel.
20:43Boehmeyer hates that uphill.
20:44He took a different line.
20:47It almost looked like Julian was thinking that Joe was going to bump him off.
20:51He didn't want to lean in too much.
20:53Joe didn't do that.
20:55Nonetheless, good move by Joe to get around him.
21:00Let's see if he can close that gap a little bit.
21:04Give him a lot of comfort.
21:07It's Levi kitchen in the bottom box.
21:10Not the day.
21:11He's coming back from injury.
21:12He said he felt like he was about the same as he would have been, 100%.
21:18Just in the top ten in moto one.
21:20Tenth here in moto two.
21:22A year ago he was second at this race.
21:27Since Levi hasn't been racing, you saw what happened in that corner, getting stuck.
21:33Got caught in that rut and threw his whole corner off.
21:35Those are the things, if you haven't been racing, those are the parts you have to get
21:39out here and learn that again.
21:40Levi is riding pretty good.
21:43When you're going up against all these guys who have been racing all year, you have to
21:46be on your game.
21:47Otherwise you're going to end up in tenth place and it looks like a bad finish.
21:50I think he'll get better as the season goes.
21:53Top of the aisle makes the move on bowmair and takes third.
22:00March banks have been hanging with this group the whole time.
22:03That's what I was saying about Tom.
22:06If he can stay close to those guys, he's very crafty and he'll pick up on those lines and
22:10switch it up.
22:11He never really gives up.
22:13We saw that happen in salt lake city in the supercross championship.
22:16It looked like he was out of it.
22:18He becomes your champion.
22:19He knows how to continue to fight there.
22:21Still a good ride by all these guys.
22:23Julian, if he can hold on, top five.
22:27Good ride by Garrett.
22:28Holding Seth off.
22:29I thought Seth would be a little bit closer to these guys but they got a good pace going.
22:34March banks has been on it today and he might be able to get bowmair as well.
22:43How about for juju?
22:44The experience here, that was the first lap lead for him in pro motocross.
22:48He built a three second lead.
22:50What's that sprint like up front when you're doing it for the first time in one of these
22:54races?
22:55It's tough for him.
22:56His arms are probably locking up.
22:58He's starting to sit down a little bit more.
23:00When the rider, it's suspected.
23:03This guy has been doing supercross all year.
23:05You come out to the first race, it's definitely tougher for him.
23:08You notice Julian starting to sit down any time he's getting a rest in between jumps,
23:12places he would normally stand up.
23:14He's sitting down.
23:15To me, things are starting to happen a little quick, arms and whether that was for him being
23:20out front or just the second moto in the first 250 outdoor moto, you can see him starting
23:25to feel it.
23:26He's telling you exactly what's going on.
23:30March banks looking to take advantage of that.
23:33Deegan, you see the five second gap over shimoda.
23:36Guess what?
23:37Deegan just turned in his best lap of the race the last time around.
23:42Hymus keeps digging.
23:45Battling hamaker sixth and seventh.
23:48These two ride together during the week at the Lawrence brothers compound there in Florida.
23:53They are familiar with each other.
23:56Probably looks like this a lot during the week.
23:58Yeah, you like that over drone shot.
24:01What up, Chris?
24:02Great shots over here.
24:03You've been able to see the lines and what you saw with chance being able to square that
24:08corner up.
24:09Although he's not been able to make the pass, it shortens everything up and opens the radius
24:14to these corners.
24:15Eventually he's going to get around them, but here try to funnel back in.
24:19Hymus making it happen on the honda.
24:25That's your play station, buddy.
24:26You have to knock him out of the way.
24:27He's moving his way up.
24:28Chance has been stuck behind him for a couple of laps now, so eventually he's probably getting
24:33frustrated.
24:34Nice.
24:35Now he's got six seconds to try to close in on march banks.
24:38That's going to be a tough ask.
24:43But everybody else, man, the starts with how thick this field is in the 250s, what a difference
24:50that makes.
24:51Yeah, and I got to honestly believe if Hayden would have got a tenth place start, the way
24:57he's riding and just his authority around the racetrack, he would make his way up, and
25:01it just comes from confidence, and when you've got that confidence, you'll just figure out
25:06a way to pass where these other guys are still trying to build it, so, yeah, the starts get
25:10to them.
25:11I don't necessarily think the starts are that important for Hayden, the way he's been riding,
25:15because of all the confidence and all the winning that he's been doing over the last
25:18year and a half.
25:19Yeah, he showed he definitely was managing the situation early in both motos.
25:22When he needed to drop the hammer, he did, and now they've got 4.7 over shimoda.
25:28Yeah, when he dropped the hammer, it was like the thor hammer.
25:32He dropped it on these guys, because they were there, and then they weren't, so.
25:42Vial, solid in third.
25:45The overall would actually be Vial third over Hymus right now.
25:49Also, the Deegan, shimoda, Vial, 1, 2, 3 overall.
25:53You see the moto positions, championship points for each moto, pace separate, add them together.
25:59That's today's overall.
26:01Send it back to J.T.
26:03Well, Hayden Deegan has improved so much over the last few years, and you remember, this
26:07was one of his first ever races in 2022.
26:10Right there, two starts.
26:12That last one was here.
26:132023, a lot of improvement.
26:15He really broke out red butt round.
26:175.5 overall would indicate he's still learning, and then last year, the excellence just gets
26:21turned up.
26:22An average finish of 2.1 en route to a championship.
26:27He's en route to an average finish of 1.0 so far.
26:31It's really hard to see a way for him to not get a lot more of those in 2025.
26:36Yeah, I agree, but that little peek that he looked back shows me that he's still worried
26:40about where Joey is back there.
26:43He's made a couple mistakes.
26:44This track is tough, and now you can tell by him revving and reeling these corners,
26:49he's probably like, all right, I didn't break them yet, so maybe I need to put in another
26:53lap and a half, get that gap back out to five seconds to let Joe know, look, settle
26:58for second today, because Joe's still there.
27:00One mistake by Hayden, it's going to be all over him.
27:04Looks like Deegan actually went faster in the turn than he did in the straightaway,
27:08that first turn, that left-hander.
27:10Yeah, but I think that was because he took a peek back, and Joe was still right there.
27:14He kind of broke everybody else, so, you know, we saw what Joe did at the end of that first
27:18moto.
27:20Maybe have another opportunity to break him if he gets another lap.
27:24That's wild how much racing within the race that there is between these guys.
27:30It's like they say, it's chess, not checkers, for sure.
27:36Three minutes and two laps left.
27:38Deegan trying to outlast Shimoda.
27:46Oh, kitchen is done.
27:49I think that might be a bike problem.
27:51Yeah, that's a bike for sure.
27:54Oh, obviously, he had visions of wanting to contend for this title, but, boy, is that
28:00going to hurt him in the standings.
28:05Bummer, bummer, coming back.
28:08You know, as a rider, you're like, why did it go out now?
28:12Why couldn't it go out 25 minutes earlier?
28:15I rode this whole moto.
28:17You're going to be just as sore as Hayden is at the end of the day and got nothing to
28:21show for it.
28:22Yes, that hurts.
28:28So not sure, obviously, what happened to the 47.
28:32He had made it up to the 10th.
28:35Trying to get the bike in neutral there.
28:37Something is caught.
28:39Reaching in the rear wheel, maybe.
28:41They're working on the left side of the bike.
28:46Do I see sprocket without a chain?
28:49I think so.
28:51Yeah.
28:52Chain broke.
28:53Oh, yeah.
28:54There it is.
28:55Chain came off.
28:57Another update here.
28:58Drew Adams beginning his full-time pro career now for real.
29:03Jumped into some super crosses this year, but this was the plan all along, that pro motocross
29:08would be the real debut.
29:09Jumped in as a fill-in rider in some super cross.
29:13He is at 14th right now after finishing top ten in moto one.
29:18Adams out of Chattanooga, Tennessee, but also rides at that Lawrence brothers compound with
29:23the likes of Hymus and Hamacher.
29:27Looks like he started back in 18th.
29:30He's made a couple passes.
29:32As much as how deep this field is, I believe it was a good ride.
29:36He finished top ten that first moto.
29:42The team used to race Suzuki.
29:47They switched to Yamaha's this year.
29:50Is that just how tough that line is or was that a mistake from Drew?
29:54It's tough.
29:55It's a little bit of both.
29:56Those guys are slamming in.
29:58As a rider, you see somebody right in front of them.
30:00They go on the outside.
30:02You try to go in there and just bury your bike.
30:04The way these corners are, you just lose a lot of time and just the momentum.
30:08A mistake.
30:10Overall, Drew is riding good for coming out of their first official pro motocross.
30:17He's looking good.
30:18Second moto, guys are starting to be tired.
30:20He looks like he still has some energy left in him.
30:23I'm sure Mitch will be happy with this.
30:25Race one last year just to kind of learn the trade, but this is the real entrance into
30:31full-time pro racing, and he makes the move on Schwartz.
30:34Thanks, Dylan.
30:36We were watching on the TV.
30:38Schwartz fights back.
30:39Not quite enough.
30:41Yeah, I mean, again, this is a deep field, so top 15, top 10, first moto.
30:48Got to be proud with that on Drew.
30:51And he's young, so he's only going to get better.
30:54These races are he needs every experience, every lap he's going to have, and I believe
30:59by the end of this season, he'll be a top three guy.
31:02Well, that's certainly the hope.
31:05The guy who was battling and beating Cole Davies at times in SMX next last year, and
31:11then Davies turned pro at the beginning of the year and has gone next level.
31:14Unfortunately, Davies out with an injury now, but that's the type of potential that Kawasaki
31:19sees in Adams.
31:21Checking in with some other riders here.
31:24I believe master pool, not as good a moto this time.
31:27He is in 15th on the 26th.
31:32A little surprising with Ty today, to be honest with you.
31:37We know how good he rode last year.
31:39Been able to win overall with their beating Hayden a couple of motos out there.
31:44Starting up front, again, maybe his bike is set up or who knows what's going on, but I
31:49expect him to be a little bit better since he started up front, especially that first
31:53moto, but it just shows you how good and deep this field is.
31:56Off just a little bit, you're going to end up in the top 15.
32:00And then more talent being added to that.
32:02The 201 is Enzo Temmerman who decided to race pro today.
32:06This is good in SMX next in supercross.
32:11Hey, the SMX playoffs are once again offering an opportunity for camping at all three rounds.
32:18That includes trackside camping at some of them.
32:20So spots are going quick.
32:22Sign up today at supermotocross.com and get the same experience there as people have here
32:28at pro motocross.
32:30So it's master poll Temmerman who was pointing and whipping the motorcycle in your direction
32:38yesterday, James Stewart.
32:39I figured out who that was.
32:41201.
32:42He had to pick a three-digit number for the day since he's making his pro debut.
32:45That was cool.
32:46There he is.
32:47And now you've got Michael Harrop, the Danish rider of the triumph.
32:52Oh, tricky line there for Harrop.
32:55I didn't see nothing.
32:57I didn't see nothing.
32:58Yeah, it's hard when you get that caught on camera doing that.
33:01But look, tucked the front end, had to go off the track.
33:04But come on, Enzo, you're showing me some love.
33:06I'm going to show you some love out there today.
33:09I think Temmerman was going to race SMX next.
33:11They'll have a race next weekend, what they used to call the combines.
33:14But now they say he's probably going to race hang town again next weekend as a pro.
33:19And as for Harrop, he's just pumped to have the chance to do this.
33:24Yeah.
33:25Race pro motocross this summer.
33:27Yeah, my dad used to tell me when you're in the spotlight, Enzo, you see a guy in front
33:31of you like that's a wounded duck, son.
33:33That's a wounded duck.
33:34So you better go ahead and get him.
33:36Might have an opportunity to get around Ty.
33:38He's trying.
33:39Yeah.
33:40Yep.
33:41For Hayden Degan, looking to start the year at a 1-1.
33:44And here is a shocker.
33:46This will only be the third time Degan has gone 1-1 in a pro motocross.
33:51Last year here.
33:52And he did it at Washougal in 2023.
33:55Just feels like he's had dominant days.
33:57But he has only gone 1-1 two times before this.
34:00Yeah, but that first one he had back in Washougal, I remember watching that one.
34:04That was a coming of age race right there.
34:07To me, this actually, to be honest with you, this was an easy day of racing for Hayden.
34:12I don't think those guys are, Joe's within five seconds and he rode good.
34:16But we saw how quickly Hayden dropped that hammer to be able to pull that gap out.
34:20It didn't look like it was that hard for him today.
34:23It's troublesome for everybody else.
34:26Yeah, this was a bit more of almost that Jet Lawrence playbook.
34:30He only did what he had to do.
34:32Yeah, it looked like he had a plan.
34:34Look, I'm going to go out there, just stay up the first one.
34:3715 minutes, I'm going to drop the hammer.
34:39About 17 minutes, I'm going to have a gap.
34:41And then I'm going to just ride it on out.
34:43So to me, the playbook went exactly how he thought.
34:45And when you come in there and you execute the way, because both motors are exactly the same.
34:49Yes.
34:50This guy ain't worried.
34:51And almost like he was playing with him for a little bit.
34:54Going for the 1-1 at his home track.
34:58The famous metal militia compound where he grew up.
35:02That was his dad's spot.
35:05Lots of videos back in the day shot there with the freestyle ramps.
35:08And Hayden doing a back flip there when he was 10 years old nowadays.
35:12Spends most of his time in Florida with star racing and their training facility.
35:16But he does get to come back here a couple times a year like now.
35:20And this is his backyard.
35:22And he's riding like it's his backyard.
35:24Absolutely.
35:25Well, unfortunate for all these guys, the way he rides, all these tracks are going to be his backyard.
35:31Kid looks pretty good.
35:32But that's why we go racing.
35:34You never know.
35:35Again, I'm happy to see what I see from Joe Shimoda.
35:38Looking very good.
35:39Tom Bial, recovery.
35:40So ain't over.
35:42But...
35:43Yeah.
35:44Close to.
35:45At least today.
35:46That's Jensen Hedler, the team manager for Yamaha star racing in the 250 division.
35:52Likes what he sees.
35:53Hayden Began.
35:55Starts the year with a 1-1 at his home track.
36:00Dominant.
36:04Quickly looks to see the gap over Shimoda.
36:075.3 to the end.
36:13Hive is still digging.
36:16Going to end up sixth.
36:18And that's going to cost him a podium.
36:21Going to be Shimoda and Bial second and third overall.
36:25Jensen got stuck behind his riding partner too long.
36:28Not making those passes.
