00:00That is the raw power of the GBU-57, a 12-ton monster known as the Massive Ordnance Penetrator.
00:11It's the most powerful non-nuclear bomb in the US arsenal.
00:15And it's not made to flatten buildings.
00:17It's built to go through them, deep into reinforced bunkers buried underground.
00:21A true bunker buster.
00:23But why are we talking about this now?
00:25Because during Operation Sindhu, when India struck terror sites and military installations in Pakistan, one name kept coming up.
00:36Kirana Hills.
00:37Thank you for telling us that Kirana Hill houses some nuclear installations.
00:41We did not know about it.
00:43Okay.
00:44And we have not hit Kirana Hills, whatever is there.
00:48Officially, the Indian Air Force has denied striking Kirana Hills.
00:51In fact, Air Marshal AK Bharati even denied knowing that the mountain range hosts underground nuclear storage facilities.
00:57But that smirk on his face, it left many unconvinced.
01:00Hypothetically, if a strike were to target underground tunnels and bunkers like those believed to exist at Kirana Hills,
01:06it would need a bomb like the Guided Bomb Unit 57.
01:09Built by Boeing, the GBU-57 is 6 meters long, about half the length of a city bus, and weighs over 13,000 kilos, 2,500 of which is explosive payload.
01:20The MOP, as it is popularly known, can penetrate as deep as 60 meters underground.
01:25That's the height of your average 20-storey building.
01:27Now, the MOP isn't the only bomb with bunker-busting capabilities.
01:31It's just the deepest-reaching and most powerful.
01:34India does not have a comparable bomb in its arsenal, but it does have similar technology.
01:38During the 2019 Balakot Airstrike, for example, India used the Israeli Spies Precision Guided Munitions designed to explode inside a building rather than outside.
01:47The Rafale jets also come equipped with a hammer missile, including its bunker-busting variant.
01:52None of this is to say that the Indian Air Force did strike Kirana Hills in Pakistan.
01:56After all, Air Marshal AK Bharati was quite clear about that, even if it was with a smirk on his face.
