00:00Dice with me, Secretary Telecom, Dr. Neeraj Mittalji, Additional Secretary in the Department
00:10of Telecom, Gulzar Natarajanji, Chairman, CEO AI, Abhijit Kishore Sahib, CEO IMC, Ramakrishna
00:22Sahib, my colleagues from the ministry and from industry present here today, members
00:34of the IMC fraternity and my friends from the media.
00:47What a wonderful occasion that we meet close to about 12 months down the road from convening
00:57IMC 2024.
01:05And as Abhijit said, we are now into the ninth edition of this conference.
01:17And the aim is that as India gains her rightful place in the polity of nations, conferences
01:32such as this bring about a great deal of exposure for industries domestically.
01:52For our manufacturers globally.
01:58For our investment community across the world.
02:06To see the capability.
02:11That our country has garnered.
02:15Over the last decade.
02:20And how India today is leading.
02:26The revolution in the telecommunication space across the world.
02:36Now as I stand before you here today.
02:43I cannot but help.
02:44Go back in time.
02:54And look back as an Indian.
03:00With a great sense of pride.
03:07To the fact that India has never waited for the future to arrive.
03:16She has always shaped it.
03:21And if you go back in time.
03:27Right from the days of Nalanda and Takshila.
03:36Where global curriculum and global pedagogy.
03:43Was introduced from Bharat Mata soil.
03:50Where scholars across the world used to congregate at this Mecca of knowledge.
04:03To the unshakable quill of Arya Bhatta's feather.
04:14That came up.
04:16With the ingenious concept of zero.
04:23To medical systems solutions and surgeries.
04:30That were always pioneered in India.
04:37To the mapping of the stars.
04:42That was done by India's astronomers.
04:45While the rest of the world would only gaze at the sky.
04:51Our country and our nation and our soil.
04:58Has always built the scientific temper of the world.
05:07And therefore today.
05:11When we look.
05:14At the giant leaps that we have taken over the last decade.
05:22Whether it was the innovation of.
05:26Two vaccines during the period of COVID.
05:31And through vaccine matri exporting it to 40 countries across the world.
05:40Or whether it is.
05:44Our space missions.
05:47Vikram Lander and others.
05:50At a fraction of international costs.
05:54For indeed.
05:58What all of you in this room have achieved.
06:03One of the most robust telecommunication networks and systems.
06:11Across the world.
06:13Cutting edge.
06:15Data oriented.
06:17Service oriented.
06:18Service oriented.
06:22India today ladies and gentlemen.
06:24Is continuing on the path.
06:27That she forged.
06:30Not a decade ago.
06:32Not a hundred years ago.
06:34But over a thousand years ago.
06:36A thought leader.
06:38A science leader.
06:40And a social leader.
06:42To create an equitable world.
06:45From the north to the south pole.
06:51And whilst we live in this environment.
06:56The concept of our theme launched this year.
06:59Innovate to transform.
07:01As secretary sahab said.
07:06Is the very basis.
07:11Of the prime minister's concept.
07:16Of a vixit bharat by 2047.
07:22A vixit bharat by 2047.
07:25Which is rooted in atmanirvarta.
07:28Of a vixit bharat by 2047.
07:33Which is fueled by entrepreneurship.
07:39And which is driven.
07:42By a fervor of inclusive growth.
07:47And in that environment.
07:51The transformation that India.
07:53Is going through today.
07:55Is systemic.
08:00Is structural.
08:03Is systemic.
08:04Is structural.
08:06But most importantly.
08:08Is indigenous.
08:11And therefore the topic today.
08:13Of our theme.
08:16Innovate to transform.
08:19Outlines.
08:20Underlines.
08:21Enunciates.
08:25The concept.
08:27That in this journey.
08:28Of transformation.
08:32Innovation.
08:34Will always be.
08:35The core.
08:37Of India's compass.
08:41Now we have come a long way.
08:43From an environment where penetration levels were very low.
08:55Where consumption of data was sporadic.
09:00Intermittent.
09:01Vapor-like.
09:04Vapor-like.
09:08Where infrastructure and equipment.
09:13Was hard to come by.
09:18From that environment we have grown today.
09:22Multifold.
09:23From being a consumer of 61 MB of data.
09:30Today 21 GB of data per person.
09:33Probably the highest.
09:35In close to the highest in the world.
09:39From being an importer of handsets.
09:42And a domestic producer.
09:43Of only 50 million handsets.
09:47To being the second largest producer.
09:49Of mobile handsets.
09:51At 330 million.
09:53From being a follower of technology.
10:02To leapfrogging technology.
10:05And not only leapfrogging technology.
10:06But inventing technology.
10:09And today 5G in our country.
10:11Has.
10:12Thanks to.
10:13A lot of you seated in this room.
10:15Has a penetration.
10:16And a spread level.
10:17Of close to 99% of our districts.
10:2082% of our population.
10:22The fastest 5G rollout in the world.
10:31It is that capability that we as Indians have shown the world.
10:35And therefore in this environment.
10:44Where not only are we making this product and this service ubiquitous.
10:49But we are also ensuring the safety of our customers.
10:55Our private sector companies coming out with their coverages.
11:02To protect our customers from online fraud.
11:06From spam.
11:09From spam.
11:13DOT's Sanchar Saathi portal.
11:15Which is acts like a shield.
11:18Which by itself has disconnected almost close to 3.4 crore fake mobile connections.
11:26Our job is to be a provider of services.
11:31But our job is also to protect.
11:35Every citizen.
11:37As we transcend.
11:39From the physical highway of roads.
11:43To the informational and telecommunications digital highway.
11:49Which today has become all pervasive across the length and breadth of our country.
11:57And therefore today.
12:00It gives me great pleasure to inaugurate.
12:05Our concept of Sanchar Saathi.
12:07In the first phase we rolled it out.
12:15Across 280 institutions.
12:22A thought that symbolizes India's leadership.
12:26Across 40s.
12:30Democracy, demography.
12:34Digitization and delivery.
12:37And the success of our pilot.
12:43Today has given us the confidence to roll this out on a nationwide basis.
12:49Where each one of our partners.
12:54Young men and young ladies.
12:58Will take upon themselves the responsibility.
13:02Of educating, informing, safeguarding.
13:08The interests of every single customer.
13:12Across the length and breadth of our system.
13:18As the prime minister has always said.
13:20This is a whole of government approach.
13:22This is a whole of our ecosystem approach.
13:28This is a whole of our ecosystem approach.
13:31And this ladies and gentlemen.
13:33Is a whole of nation approach.
13:36A whole of nation approach.
13:38To safeguard the security.
13:41Digital security.
13:42Of every single one of our citizens.
13:45And while we talk about opportunities such as this.
13:59Innovation has to be at the core.
14:01The core of our existence.
14:09It's as if you're running on a constant treadmill.
14:12If you look at economic curves on a graph.
14:20Not looking at inflection points.
14:22Or changing the slope of a graph.
14:23But actually shifting the graph upwards.
14:26And that innovative capability today.
14:31Is there in India.
14:35And let me give you an example of that.
14:38Last year.
14:43At the.
14:46Combined IMC.
14:482024.
14:49And WTSA.
14:50That we were fortunate enough to host.
14:52And let me add.
14:56Thanks to all of you.
14:57And all of your efforts.
15:00When we worked as a whole of ecosystem approach.
15:05Not only was it the first time.
15:07That a WTSA was held.
15:11In Asia.
15:15But it was the highest.
15:17Attended WTSA.
15:19In the history of the ITU.
15:22We had delegates.
15:27From 163 countries.
15:33Ministry representatives.
15:34From 150 countries.
15:38Almost 3,500 delegates.
15:43And I recall.
15:45At that WTSA.
15:46When I met Rocky.
15:50A robotic dog.
15:52That would keep humans out of harm's way.
16:00And do all the difficult and dangerous tasks.
16:03That humans do.
16:03Well guess what.
16:10A couple of months later.
16:15When the disastrous earthquake happened.
16:19In Myanmar.
16:19Bharat ki sena.
16:24The Indian army.
16:28Deployed our Sanjay.
16:32A mule.
16:35A multi-utility.
16:37Leged equipment.
16:38That went in to save lives in operation Brahma in Myanmar.
16:46A fully indigenous product.
16:54From scratch.
16:55And so whether it is Sanjay.
16:59Or whether it is our own domestic 4G stack.
17:05We are only four countries in the world that produce telco equipment.
17:12Five companies.
17:13Four countries.
17:15And the prime minister made it his resolve.
17:18That if BSNL is to graduate from 3G to 4G.
17:22It must be done on Atman Nirbhar equipment.
17:25And so what has never been done before.
17:32Beyond the realm of possibility.
17:37Where you have CDOT.
17:39A government company.
17:42BSNL.
17:43A government company.
17:45Tejas.
17:46A private sector company.
17:47And in Indian SI.
17:51In the form of system integrator.
17:54In the form of TCS.
17:55All four come together.
17:57And in a period of 22 months.
18:01Produce the first.
18:03Domestic 4G stack.
18:05After eons.
18:07For the world.
18:08And India becomes the fifth country in the world.
18:10To produce its own telco stack.
18:16We are now rolling it out.
18:17I took a review today.
18:19We are at 93,450 towers.
18:24That have been installed.
18:26Still have a long way to go.
18:30But we are on track.
18:35And that capability today is enshrined amongst all of us here.
18:41And this theme today.
18:44Innovate to transform.
18:47Will give us that capability.
18:52Not only to provide services in India.
18:55But to ensure that production is also comes from India.
18:59To ensure that India becomes a hub for designing.
19:05So you have designing in India.
19:07You have solving in India.
19:09And you have scaling from India.
19:15DSS.
19:17Design, solve and scale.
19:19That has to be our chemical formula.
19:23Ladies and gentlemen.
19:24In the days to come.
19:25In the days to come.
19:29I am very confident.
19:32When I talk about the fact.
19:34As Secretary said.
19:35That we.
19:37Followed the world on 4G.
19:39We marched with the world on 5G.
19:40We lead the world in 6G.
19:42We are among the top six countries today.
19:46That is filing for 6G patents.
19:49As we speak.
19:50Our Bharat 6G alliance is doing a human's job.
19:56Private sector.
19:56Public sector.
19:57Entrepreneurs.
19:58Across the board.
19:59And I am very confident.
20:04That when the world radio.
20:07Radio communications conference is held in 2027.
20:10When they decide.
20:11Which waves.
20:13Will go in for 6G.
20:15It is from now till then.
20:19That our entrepreneurs.
20:21Our companies.
20:22Our innovators.
20:23Across the board.
20:25Must aspire.
20:27To ensure that.
20:29India leads.
20:30That technology wave.
20:32In the days to come.
20:35The topic today.
20:39And the theme today.
20:42Innovate to transform.
20:46Takes off from.
20:48Our theme last year.
20:51And to remind you all.
20:53Our theme last year.
20:54Is the future is now.
20:57And if that is the umbrella.
20:58The umbrella theme of last year.
21:00Innovate to transform.
21:02That was the what.
21:05The future is now.
21:07This year's theme.
21:09Is the how.
21:11Innovate to transform.
21:14And I am very confident.
21:16That as Steve Jobs says.
21:20And I quote.
21:23He said that.
21:25It is innovation.
21:26That distinguishes.
21:28A leader.
21:29From a follower.
21:30Unquote.
21:34And I am very confident.
21:37That my fraternity.
21:39Seated in this room.
21:40The millions.
21:41The millions.
21:42Outside this room.
21:45That will congregate.
21:47At IMC 2025.
21:51Believe.
21:52In not only.
21:54Imagined in India.
21:56But believe.
21:58In engineered in India.
22:00And believe.
22:02In the concept of.
22:04Powered.
22:05By India.
22:05Today is a hallmark day.
22:13Where all of us together.
22:15Must lead that charge.
22:20And whilst we lead that charge.
22:22I have seen.
22:26IMC evolve over the years.
22:29And it must be our goal.
22:33That IMC must become.
22:37The centripetal force.
22:41Of all expositions.
22:44Across the world.
22:46Based.
22:47From India.
22:48Out of India.
22:49For the world.
22:52Today is also a day.
22:55Where we have awarded.
22:57Many of our innovators.
22:59Many of our entrepreneurs.
23:02That have contributed tremendously.
23:06To India being able to achieve.
23:09Her status today.
23:11They have been conferred.
23:14The Pandit Deendayal.
23:16Telecom excellence awards this year.
23:18And my heartiest congratulations.
23:21To all of them.
23:23Because I believe.
23:25That technology.
23:25Must always be a bridge.
23:28And not a barrier.
23:30And the awardees today.
23:33In their own individual right.
23:36Have been bridges.
23:37Across these spans.
23:40For billions of Indians.
23:41Across the length and breadth.
23:43Of our country.
23:43My heartiest congratulations.
23:46To all the awardees.
23:48And my best wishes.
23:49To all of you.
23:50Let's make it a success.
23:52IMC 2025.
23:54Here we come.
