00:00Knowing you has changed me. Because you cared, I cared.
00:07Welcome to Miss Mojo, and today we're counting down our picks for the romantic pairings that didn't end up together,
00:12even though they totally should have. Given that we'll be discussing some not-so-happy endings, be prepared for some spoilers.
00:18You don't come back from California, man. It changes you.
00:22Number 10, Lara Jean and John Ambrose. To all the boys, P.S. I still love you.
00:27You know who I am?
00:30So, when I sent a love letter to you?
00:33Yeah, that's the one.
00:36I love it.
00:39And I'm gonna need that letter back.
00:41This romantic comedy sequel film picks up where the first left off,
00:45with Lara Jean in an official relationship with her longtime crush, Peter.
00:49When John Ambrose, another recipient of Lara Jean's past love letters, comes into the picture,
00:53it sparks a love triangle between Lara Jean and the two boys.
00:57It's getting too crowded in here.
00:59I can stick around and help me clean up if you want.
01:04I got it.
01:05That's it.
01:05It's cool.
01:06I mean, I kind of helped make the mess.
01:07I mean, it's fine.
01:08I really don't mind.
01:09I think I can handle helping my girlfriend clean up.
01:12Although we were rooting for Peter in the first film, John Ambrose just seemed like a better
01:17match for Lara Jean.
01:18They had much better chemistry, far more in common, and Jordan Fisher is obviously too
01:22cute to turn down.
01:23As a result, fans are divided over the film's ending, which sees Lara Jean and Peter once
01:28again reaffirming their feelings for each other.
01:30Do whatever you want.
01:38I love you.
01:43I love you too.
01:44Number 9.
01:49Layla and Warren.
01:50Sky High.
01:51Supposed to be meeting Will here, but no.
01:56You want us now?
01:57Hippie plant lover Layla Williams seemed like a perfect match for the 2000s emo dream, troubled
02:03teen Warren Peace, and their chemistry in the Chinese restaurant scene was off the charts.
02:07Instead of letting Layla end up with her perfect match, this film took the cliche route of having
02:12her best friend and protagonist, Will Stronghold, realize that she was really the one for him
02:17all along.
02:18In case my homecoming date ends up killing me tonight, I just want you to know.
02:24Isn't that sweet?
02:26I hate sweet.
02:28After ignoring his friends for the entire movie, is that really the ending Will deserved?
02:33It's certainly not what Layla deserved, despite the movie's insistence that she was crushing
02:37on Will and not Warren.
02:39This outcome completely scrapped all of Layla's character development in favor of giving Will
02:43a happy ending.
02:44My arch enemy became my best friend, and my best friend became my girlfriend.
02:49But hey, that's high school.
02:51Number 8.
02:52Midge and Lenny.
02:53The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel.
02:54What I'm not important enough to go through all that trouble for?
02:59You are more important than God.
03:05You paid attention.
03:08To you?
03:10Always.
03:11This Amazon Prime series pairs its fictional protagonist, aspiring comedian Midge Maisel, with real-life
03:17counter-culture comedian Lenny Bruce and Sparks Fly.
03:21The two are equally matched in wit and charisma, with incredible chemistry from their very first
03:25scene.
03:26Unfortunately, this relationship was doomed from the start due to the real-life Lenny Bruce's
03:44untimely death in 1966 at just 40 years old.
03:48This made the unbelievably romantic scenes these two characters shared completely heartbreaking.
03:53No matter how much fans desperately wanted Midge and Lenny to get their happy ending, it
03:56was tragically never meant to be.
03:58Maybe someday, before I'm dead.
04:02It's a date.
04:06Number 7.
04:06Becca and Chloe.
04:08Pitch Perfect.
04:09I'm so glad that I met you all.
04:12I think that we're going to be really fast friends.
04:15Yeah.
04:16Yeah.
04:16Well, you saw me naked, so...
04:17The first suggestion that something might happen between these two acapella singers comes in
04:22the very first Pitch Perfect film.
04:24Chloe barges in on Becca's shower to urge her to join the Bard and Bellas after hearing
04:28her sing.
04:28Oh, yeah.
04:30I'm pretty confident about all this.
04:34You should be.
04:35This highly suggestive scene was just the beginning of many flirtatious moments between
04:39these two characters that led to some serious queerbaiting accusations from fans.
04:43The possibility of a relationship between Becca and Chloe was hinted at in the marketing for
04:48the film's sequels, but they ultimately ended the series as strictly friends.
04:52For LGBTQ fans watching with the hopes of seeing their community represented in a major
04:57Hollywood franchise, this was totally disappointing.
05:00You know, one of my biggest regrets is that I didn't do enough experimenting in college.
05:05You're so weird.
05:06Thanks.
05:07I want to go home.
05:10Number 6.
05:10Jackie and Hyde.
05:11That 70s show.
05:13Steven, do you want to be with me?
05:16No, no, a shrug's not going to cut it.
05:19Steven, I need you to say something.
05:21The two characters with the biggest personalities on this series seemed like an unlikely pairing,
05:25but quickly became a fan-favorite couple after they initially got together.
05:29After Kelso's horrible treatment of Jackie during their relationship, it was refreshing
05:33to see Jackie and Hyde treating each other with respect and admiration.
05:36You know what?
05:37I'm telling everybody everything anyways.
05:40Starting with the fact that you called me your girlfriend.
05:42You're blackmailing me?
05:46You're coming along nicely.
05:50Their differences as people made for a relationship where both parties were constantly growing
05:55and improving themselves to be better partners to each other.
05:58Jackie ends the series paired with Fez, but is revealed to be married to Kelso in the reboot
06:02to that 90s show.
06:03This upset fans, who rightfully asserted that Jackie deserved better than to end up with
06:07someone who treated her so poorly.
06:09Hell, you stopped long enough to cheat on her with Pam, Macy, Laurie and Annette.
06:14Who else am I forgetting?
06:15Oh, there were many others.
06:17Number five, Hayley and Andy.
06:19Modern Family.
06:21Thought you had a date to go on.
06:23I do.
06:24When's he going to get here?
06:26Whenever he does.
06:27He's just like a few minutes late.
06:28Fans of this long-running sitcom watch the eldest Dumpy fall in love and have her heart broken
06:33multiple times throughout the show's 11 seasons.
06:35By far the most popular boyfriend Hayley ever dated was male nanny Andy, played by Adam Devine.
06:41While Hayley and her previous long-term boyfriend Dylan clearly had strong feelings for each other,
06:58Hayley and Andy had what seemed like a much healthier dynamic.
07:01They supported each other's dreams and truly wanted the best for each other,
07:04which led to Hayley encouraging Andy to take a job opportunity in another state.
07:08It was a selfless action that cost this couple their happy ending,
07:11but showed how much Hayley had grown as a person throughout her relationship with Andy.
07:16I don't regret a single minute I've spent with you.
07:18I think you're the first man I've ever loved.
07:23Not a single minute.
07:25You really are the first.
07:31Number four, Lane and Dave.
07:33Gilmore Girls.
07:34I'm sort of an audio geek, sorry.
07:36No, don't apologize, I love you.
07:38For that, for being that way.
07:40I love it.
07:41I'm like that too.
07:42This relationship truly was meant to be endgame,
07:44but off-screen complications ruined what could have been for poor Lane Kim and Dave Rogalski.
07:50These characters shared a mutual passion for music and each other,
07:53despite Lane's strict mother making dating a near impossibility.
07:57Dave went above and beyond to prove to Mrs. Kim that he would be a suitable boyfriend for her daughter.
08:01That is a very difficult thing to do, reading the Bible in one night.
08:04I myself have only done it three times.
08:07You need great determination and excellent light.
08:10I'm very impressed.
08:15All right.
08:16All right, what?
08:17You can go to the prom, but you cannot get married.
08:19Sadly, Dave was swiftly written out of the show when the character's actor, Adam Brody, was cast on The O.C.
08:25This was clearly not what the writers wanted for Dave, which is proven by his name alone.
08:30The character, Lane Kim, is based on Gilmore Girls writer and producer, Helen Pye.
08:35Her real-life husband's name?
08:36David Rogalski.
08:38I'll call you when I know something.
08:39Okay.
08:46I'm still writing him a song tonight.
08:48This brilliantly written British series confronted religious taboos when it introduced a Catholic priest as the main character's love interest in season two.
09:07For the first time, this misunderstood, misguided, hot mess of a character meets someone who matches her wit and truly sees her.
09:14And he's completely off limits.
09:16What if you meet someone you like?
09:19I talk and drink and laugh and give them Bibles and hope they eventually leave me alone.
09:25What if you meet someone you love?
09:30We're not going to have sex.
09:31Their palpable chemistry keeps viewers on the edge of their seat all season,
09:35waiting to see if the priest will ultimately sacrifice his career for the woman that he's come to love.
09:40In the end, the priest chooses God over Fleabag.
09:42And the two part ways in one of the most heartbreakingly real scenes in recent television.
09:47I love you.
10:00It'll pass.
10:02Number two, Dean and Castiel.
10:04Supernatural.
10:05One of the defining moments of 2020 was, without a doubt, the final season of Supernatural.
10:10Why does this sound like a goodbye?
10:14Because it is.
10:20I love you.
10:21For years, dedicated fans of the series advocated for writers to pair up Dean Winchester and the angel Castiel.
10:28But their pleas were ignored.
10:29Fans were forced to create copious amounts of fan fiction and art themselves,
10:33never imagining the showrunners would actually make their ship officially canon.
10:37Although we do explore the nature of Destiel in Act 2.
10:41Sorry, what?
10:42Oh, it's just subtext.
10:44But then again, you know, you can't spell subtext without...
10:48S-E-X.
10:50Much to the surprise of viewers, one of the show's final episodes saw Castiel actually confessing his love for Dean.
10:56Of course, he was immediately banished to the Empty, which fans refer to as Super Hell.
11:01This was hardly the ending Destiel fans wanted,
11:04and felt so unnecessarily tragic after years of hoping for a romantic confession between these fan-favorite characters.
11:11Because the one thing I want is something I know I can't have.

11:341. Rick and Ilse
11:38Casablanca
11:39I remember every detail. The Germans wore grey, you wore blue.
11:44Yes, I put that dress away.
11:47When the Germans march out, I'll wear it again.
11:49In one of the most iconic love triangles in the history of film,
11:52Casablanca tells the complicated story of Rick Blaine, his long-lost love Ilse, and her husband Victor.
11:58Ilse needs Rick's help in order for her and her husband to escape Nazi officials.
12:02But she also reveals that her feelings for Rick have never faded.
12:06The day you left Paris, if you knew what I went through, if you knew how much I loved you, how much I still love you.
12:23This classic film combines political tension with romantic tension that leaves you wondering throughout whether Rick and Ilse will end up together.
12:30Rick's love for Ilse means he must ultimately act selflessly to help her and her husband safely escape.
12:36It's clear Ilse loves both Rick and Victor, and it was only a matter of circumstances that led to her choosing her husband over her former lover.
12:43You're part of his work, the thing that keeps him going.
12:46If that plane leaves the ground and you're not with him, you'll regret it.
12:49Do you think these couples were meant to be, or did they get the ending they deserved?
13:01Let us know in the comments.
