00:00My name is Allison Johnson. I live in Miami, Florida. I was originally born in California.
00:18When I met my husband, we knew that we wanted children together, and we have always loved kids.
00:24When we were at the doctor and we originally found out about his diagnosis, we were about 18 weeks along in pregnancy.
00:32Everything was great. The baby was moving. They were getting great images.
00:36But the ultrasound tech had then said, you know, I'm having trouble getting pictures of his heart.
00:44Aortic valve stenosis. That's what the preliminary diagnosis was.
00:48So in my belly, his aortic valve was a little narrow.
00:57So feeling, once we heard the diagnosis, we felt a lot of anxiousness, nervousness.
01:05We are a Catholic family, so we knew that we had a son on the way, and that was our option.
01:12We never chose any other direction than to give this baby the best life that he could, because that's what he deserved.
01:19I was in the main OR. I wasn't even on the maternity floor.
01:22But they had on one side the cath lab set up for him, and then they also had the surgical room set up for him as well.
01:30I heard him cry, and we both were like, you know, just happy, happy tears.
01:35That's all we could think of, and we didn't know if that was going to be the last time that we were going to hear him cry,
01:40because we did not know what was going to happen.
01:45Again, he had his first open heart surgery at 12 days old, and then was bed bound until he was almost six months old
01:52when we got discharged from the hospital.
01:54In the beginning, the expenses, until Griffin got added onto our insurance, the expenses were very, very high.
02:04I think the bill that I ended up getting from the hospital for his first, you know, couple months of stay was well over a million dollars.
02:16Ways that we find bonds and create connections with Griffin is doing things that he likes to do.
02:22He sees how much Big Brother loves baseball, so he likes to try to play baseball, too.
02:27So doing that all together as a family.
02:29We have a lot of fear about his future.
02:31We try not to let that overtake the current happiness that we are feeling in this kind of lull of a stage that we're in right now.
02:41But, you know, he does have another heart repair that is going to happen in the next year or so.
02:47After that, there isn't another option for him at this time that we are aware of besides a transplant.
02:56I don't know how different our life would truly be without Griffin in it.
03:02It's hard to imagine.
03:05I almost don't want to imagine a life without him.
03:09But he is, he is so great.
03:14I think that we would still be doing what we're doing.
03:17He is the kid that I hope everybody has in their life because he's irreplaceable.
03:25Because he's irreplaceable.
03:50All right, thanks so much for watching.
03:52Let's go.
03:53Thank you.
03:54Bye.
03:55Thank you.
03:56We are coming back.
03:57Thank you.
03:59All right.
04:00Thanks, say, for the attention.
04:01I'm going to remind you of the clarity for the attention of his past.
04:03He's not allowed to be challenged, but I'm not allowed to be challenged by myself.
04:04What are you and what are you?
04:05It's a good question.
04:06I'm so glad I just missed my девos.
04:07I am asking you.
04:09That's a fine question.
04:10You guys are going to give him an opportunity to take the attention to this, you haven't seen.
04:12Everything was very impressive.
04:13I've been an opportunity to say, you know, and you can look into this.
04:14Yes.
04:15You will know, I've been trying to look into that every time.
