Celtic lose Scottish Cup final REACTION and how Aberdeen ended Treble dream

Ben Banks reports from inside Hampden after Celtic lose the Scottish Cup final vs Aberdeen.

00:00Full time here at Hampden. Aberdeen won, Celtic won. The Dons winning on penalties after extra time.

00:09Their first cup win since 1990 in jubilant scenes in the red end of Hampden.

00:14But for Celtic and Brendan Rodgers, an unfamiliar feeling.

00:17His first defeat in the Scottish Cup over two stints as Celtic manager and his first defeat at Hampden.

00:23Both incredible records coming tumbling down here on a day where Celtic just weren't at it and weren't at the races.

00:28For the first 45 minutes it looked as if it would be a comfortable Celtic win.

00:32Aberdeen had sat in with banks of five. Celtic managed to break them down with an Alfie Dorrington own goal.

00:37But after half time the tempo dropped. The subs didn't make much of a difference at all.

00:42And Aberdeen managed to nick a goal with a bizarre own goal.

00:46Kasper Schmeichel bundling it into his own net off a Thameshied and Morris cross.

00:50That kind of summed up a game of little quality.

00:53But Aberdeen had held Celtic with ease and Celtic didn't have any answers to it.

01:01So it was quite boom or bust from the Dons.

01:03But they managed to see it out in the end.

01:04They got to extra time. Could have scored themselves.

01:07Geoffrey Schlupp had a chance to score as well and he hit the bar.

01:10And Callum McGregor of all people was one of the ones to miss the penalties.

01:14As well as Alistair Johnson as Dimitar Mitov wrote his name into Aberdeen folklore.

01:17For Celtic it's a missed chance for a treble.

01:21They'll be much disappointment from the Celtic ranks.

01:23With them heavily favoured to win this amid Aberdeen's stuttering end to the Premiership season.

01:29And now all attention will turn to strengthening the squad.

01:31With many probably feeling that some of the quality off the bench wasn't quite there to finish the job off.

01:36And we'll wait and see whether or not that Celtic are able to do that.
