Man builds traditional boozer in his garden for less than £1k

A man has built an authentic pub in his garden for under £1,000 complete with roaring open fire, cask ale pumps and branded beer mats.  Iain Mason, 55, has converted his garage into 'Stoaters', a cosy six-seater boozer filled with genuine pub memorabilia.  He kept the budget down by ensuring everything inside cost less than £10 or was being given away for free.  Iain sourced everything from pint glasses and tables to a dartboard and even the bar from charity shops and Facebook Marketplace.

00:33a pub in his shed at the bottom of his garden and I thought how brilliant to have your own pub at the

00:44cost less than £10 that was the budget I set myself started building it used pallets used

00:51wardrobe used any bit of wood I could find and fish out of a skip took about four months I'm not

00:57the world's greatest handyman by any means there was a lot of trial and error a lot of swearing a lot

01:02of starting all over again the bar behind here the gantry that was an old sideboard free from

01:08somebody's home the bar itself this was an old table cut in half everything else is pallets things that

01:15people didn't want anymore and threw away I opened it on Christmas Day 2023 my wife had never been in

01:21here before none of the family had seen it so we had a grand unveiling we had a good Christmas put it

01:27that way the second part of the build was this vestibule outside so we added somewhere for people

01:32to hang their coats just added a few more bits and bobs on the walls because I was still collecting more

01:38pictures more useless things that wouldn't go in the house the other thing was it soon became clear we

01:44needed a toilet because guys were just going outside in the garden or going into the house the wife

01:49wasn't happy so again we just found an old urinal 10 pounds on Facebook fitted that in with the help

01:57of a couple of friends that solved a lot of problems it's been good the other thing was one of my friends

02:03Nick he gifted me a a toasty maker because we always need something to eat we need bar snacks we've had

02:08plenty of good nights in here we've had Christmas we've had Hogmanay we've had birthdays we've had

02:13leaving parties for the family to go to Australia we've just had some great nights and the best

02:18thing about having your own pub is you can choose who comes in as well
