Nilgiris (TN), May 24, 2025 (ANI): A 30-member National Disaster Response Team has arrived in Ooty as a very heavy rain warning has been issued for the Tamil Nadu’s Nilgiris on May 24. Speaking to media, Nilgiris District Collector Lakshmi Bhavya Dhaneeru informed, “It has already been informed in yesterday’s press conference that for next two days, we have red alert issued to entire Nilgiris district. South-west Monsoon primarily affects…Ooty taluk. People of these areas are requested to follow precautions and not venture out unless emergency, specially for tourists.”

00:47And southwest monsoon primarily affects four taluks, Uti, Kunda and Gurlur, Pandalur.
00:54People of all these areas are requested to follow precautions and not venture out unless emergency.
01:03And especially for tourists because they are new to this place they may not expect strong winds which is a very recurring feature in all the monsoons in Nilgirish.
01:13So they are requested not to venture out into forests or any treks without permission or guidance.
01:20And all boating activities have been stopped for today and it may continue for the next two days.
01:25We will take a call depending on the rain situation tomorrow.
01:28As of now we are all prepared.
01:31We are now here at the shelter for Nondimedi area which is one of the very high vulnerable areas of Nilgirish district.
01:38We have monitoring officer madam visiting to overlook and oversee all the arrangements that we are making for preparedness of southwest monsoon.
