00:00A Sabah activist says it is unfair to claim that there was minimal development when the state was governed by local parties, pointing to the contributions of leaders such as former Chief Minister Haris Saleh.
00:14Johan Arifin Samad, also known as Joe Samad, said Haris, the former president of local party Berjaya, who led the state for nearly 10 years, was still regarded as the father of Sabah's industrial and agriculture development.
00:30He also cited some of Haris' legacies, like the Deysa Dairy Farm in Kundasang, developed under a state government-linked company, which he said was still operating today.
00:41Johan's response followed remarks by Sabah UMNOC chief Bung Mokdar Radin, who blamed local parties for slow development between 1963 and 1994, citing political infighting and frequent government changes as reasons for rural underdevelopment.
00:58Bung had said that political infighting and frequent government changes led to incoherent development plans and the underdevelopment of much of rural Sabah.
01:08Johan also rubbished Bung's claim that real change only took place in 1994, when Barisan National took over the state administration.
01:17He said UMNOC had failed to lift Sabah from the poverty trap as it focused on cities like Kota Kinabalu while neglecting rural infrastructure.
01:27He said UMNOC has failed to lift Sabah at the city's federal and its central state administration.
01:30So he came to R.I.G., where have the state officials with the state of Kota Kinabalu.
01:31He said, that this one of the ultimate speakers has failed to build up the state of Kota Kinabalu.
01:34He said, I was a veteran judge of concepts from urbanumen and the country running out of the state of Kota Kinabalu!
01:36In this
01:47atmosphere of Kota Kinabalu and the country on and the state of Kota Kinabalu has been distinguished by the state of Kota Kinabalu.
