00:001 and 2 seem to be in a relatively comfortable margin, certainly first place.
00:05First place at this point in time, looks like it might be in the hands of the man
00:09who's got the number one plate, Lenel Janssen.
00:13Further back, is that a change for the lead of this group? I think it is.
00:19Joko Smit might have just been overtaken there.
00:22Oh, that's a big one in the background. That's a huge one in the background.
00:26That is a big one. That's Miele Stewart and by the looks of it, I think that might be Marcel...
00:33No, it might be James Carter. It's Carter.
00:36James Carter with a massive crash, clipping the wheel there and flying over the other stricken car down there,
00:44the 86 machine of Miele Stewart.
00:46So we only caught the back end of it.
00:49I don't know if Paul can give us a replay at some point if he can,
00:51but right now it'll definitely, probably going to, probably going to be a safety car scenario
00:57because of where those cars are on the exit of turn two.
01:02In fact, it's gone straight to red.
01:04Red flag coming out due to the severity of that crash.
01:08We won't show the replay, of course, until we've seen the driver climb out the car and he's okay.
01:12There he is. He's okay.
01:13So that is confirmation.
01:15And you can see how unhappy he is, having landed in the dirt there, the 90 car of James Carter.
01:22So Carter and Miele Stewart coming together under braking into turn two.
01:27I'm not quite sure who the protagonist is in that, but both of them are a little shaken but not stirred.
01:34Once again, Hanley, Doc, and the medical team on call almost instantaneously to check if the driver's okay.
01:42They both had Hans devices on, so there shouldn't be too much of an issue there, hopefully, for the drivers.
01:49I don't think there'd be too much issue in terms of Miele's injuries,
01:54but because the car rolled, they'll be a little bit more concerned about James Carter
01:58and definitely want to check everything okay with him.
02:00It's arguably one of the best medical teams in the country when it comes to circuit racing,
02:05so you can't ask for a better team to be in attendance there.
02:13He's certainly going to feel that in the morning.
02:16And going to pop this car back onto its wheels.
02:22Three of them, not four.
02:25And how many laps did they complete there, Paul?
02:27I think if I refresh mine, how many have you got?
02:30Five done.
02:31So they haven't done enough to be full race classified.
02:36They're going to probably have to keep them on the grid and let them restart.
02:40Five done with Lendl Janssen, MD Bester, Johan Goos, Vaughan Hills, Van der Berg, Peter Hills for Mark,
02:47Brandon Hills, Sean van der Linde, and then Jaco Schmidt.
02:50And then just behind Jaco, that's where the chaos reigned between Miele and James Carter.
02:55So while they're waiting on the grid there, let's have a look at that replay.
03:24It's only the tail end of it.
03:27Yeah, it's definitely James Carter.
03:29Carter flying over the nose cone there of Miele.
03:33And then ending up on the tyre barrier, which then flipped the car over onto its side.
03:38And it's basically on the side and where the driver would be sort of in the sand.
03:42Fortunately, with that roll cage that's built into that car and the way the cockpit is designed on a Formula V,
03:49it's quite a safe cockpit that they do race in.
03:53And that's the reason why we were able to see James Carter extricate himself from the car
03:58before we needed the medical or martial intervention to get him out of harm's way.
04:03There it is in the background.
04:04Look at that.
04:06It's just wheels clipping.
04:07In single seaters, if you clip wheels under braking, it's going to end up in tears.
04:11You can just ask MD Bester about that.
04:14He was a lot worse for wear than what James Carter was.
04:17But still, Carter upside down at one point in time there.
04:20Slamming into the tyre barrier, into Castle Corner, and ending up exactly as you see him right there.
04:25So, a big moment there for James Carter.
04:28And, well, he looks okay.
04:31As I said, I think he's going to be a little bit shaken but not stirred.
04:35I can see Miele trying to get back into his car.
04:37They might be able to get his car back on track, actually.
04:40I don't think he's sustained too much damage.
04:42But certainly Carter's car out with a broken left front end.
04:47And probably a quite shaken driver.
