00:00well the theme is dream and i would say everybody here is dreaming that the rain will hold off
00:08only two seconds ago i had my umbrella up and i was trying to stay dry i think it's starting to
00:13rain again now but the dreams will be everything from whimsical dreams all the way through to
00:18nightmares as you can see behind me there's been a beautiful smoking ceremony that has kicked off
00:23this lights on ceremony and dreams will be projected all over the city on the opera house
00:30david mcdermott will be talking about dreaming of a new time a time of equality and then
00:37albert nambajira his art is going to be projected on the mca and i think one of my favorite
00:43installations which i can't wait to check out is an ai installation which is going to be at
00:48martin place where they're going to if you want to go down there you take a photo of yourself
00:53in the photo booth and then it gets projected with some ai dream interpretation on it and it'll be
01:00projected onto martin place so should be very interesting interpretation of dreams here in
01:07vivid over the next 23 days and salianne this event always clogs the street of sydney of a night time
01:15in the uh winter how many people are expected to attend this year's festival
01:19so they're going to expect uh probably around about the same as they had last year which is
01:26into the millions they're not having the drone show though so i'm not sure if you remember last
01:32year the drone show was a bit of an issue because the crowds got caught so they're getting rid of that
01:38this year but hundreds of thousands and millions of spectators are able to come down and check it
01:44out and steve camper the new south wales tourism minister says he thinks it's going to be even
01:50better uh if you can believe that better than last year last year we had somewhere some a little bit
01:58over two and a half million visitors to the city over the the period of the festival and uh you know
02:04there's 180 million dollars spent from the visitor economy we wanted to be bigger this year we want
02:09it to be greater and i'm really certain with what we've got on display today with variations to our
02:15program from last year i think it's going to be a real winner
02:19and with only 13 minutes to go until lights on all of sydney will be on display for the whole world to see
02:29once more
