00:00:00then I kind of looked up because I didn't catch it clean and then the ball was trickling in the goal
00:00:03and then I just I can't describe the feeling. What about the feeling towards the end because
00:00:09you had to hold on it was just one goal in it how nervy were those final few minutes? Horrible
00:00:15honestly I couldn't watch I was just listening to what the boys were saying asking how long left
00:00:20and then when we defended that corner at the end I kind of knew I was getting told it was done
00:00:26and just the relief is something I never can describe. You've had a difficult season as a
00:00:32whole does this now pay the fans back for the support they've given you regardless?
00:00:37Yeah 100% 100% Tottenham Hotspur finishing 17th in the Premier League isn't good enough but
00:00:44we've had an unbelievable Europa run and the fans have been so good every home game every away game
00:00:50and then coming here I just thought they had the edge on the United fans to be honest
00:00:55ever since we got to the stadium we literally walked out before the game out before they were
00:01:00all here singing our names and yeah it got us through the game. And what about your manager
00:01:05he said he always wins a trophy in his second season he's done it does he need to stay now?
00:01:11Listen he's done his job he said he wins in his second year and he has and
00:01:17I think if there's ever a time for a mic drop I think it's now so I'll be looking forward to his
00:01:20interview but I can't thank the manager enough for how much trust he's had in us because some
00:01:26of the performances this season as I said haven't been good enough but especially in the Europa
00:01:30League he has a really good way of getting everyone up for it and today it shows.
00:01:35Go and enjoy these celebrations enjoy it. Thank you.
00:01:37Thank you very much to Jules. Brennan Johnson talking about just how horrible it was in the
00:01:50second half there Glenn when when spurts were trying to hold on just just tell us about what
00:01:56you were going through. Oh we were going through hell in that uh just watching it and then you know
00:02:01it was they dropped deeper and deeper Ange put three in three at the back and in the end it
00:02:06worked out really well because there were some great headers defensive headers today second half
00:02:10they defended really well the two the two midfield players were brilliant as well Benton Kerr and
00:02:15Basuma they really did put a good instinct in they made sure that they were covering any sort of
00:02:21angle where any centre back went out into it and there was a gap there they would fill that gap and
00:02:25it was brilliant second half defensively which which we we haven't been speaking like that about
00:02:30the Tottenham side all season about their defence and we've got to give a massive credit for the way
00:02:35they did. I think I think getting those defenders back was critical for this team to be able to play
00:02:40like that backs against the wall Romero and van der Rind they want to they want to defend that
00:02:44penalty area putting balls into the box they weren't bothered with Harry Maguire being up there
00:02:48they enjoyed the battle van der Ven's clearance that deserved man of the match almost that one
00:02:52off the line he cleared forget about that one what an acrobatic clearance that was but they defended
00:02:57for their lives depending on it and they got what they needed. There was also a match winning save
00:03:01from Vicario at the end of that match as well and the goalkeeper is alongside Jules. You haven't
00:03:07stopped celebrating since that final whistle sum up the feeling right now. Oh I still can't believe
00:03:13in what what we what we've done tonight it's unbelievable we we have written history literally
00:03:24the in the real sense of the term we've written history this group of players written history
00:03:3025 it's unbelievable. Brennan Johnson's goal but your save at the end as well
00:03:38has made sure of it. Yeah yeah and also one Mickey van der Ven save he did one brilliant
00:03:45on the line so but we knew before the game that we needed the effort from everyone and we did it
00:03:51we deliver and now we have to celebrate. You can go and celebrate and go and lift that trophy
00:03:56congratulations. Yeah brilliant save from Vicario at the end of that match so they'll be watching
00:04:05that over and over again but but that clearance from van der Ven they're probably gonna watch
00:04:10that back as much as the goal this first bounce. Yeah I think it'll go down in folk though I think
00:04:15obviously Brennan Johnson's goal going in this game is a huge moment obviously but that equally
00:04:20I think was a massive moment as equally as important because if that goes in the momentum
00:04:25shift said and I think Man United probably go on win but it was a wonderful clearance and you've
00:04:28got to have people that's to be sent before the game someone's gonna have a moment in this game
00:04:33it doesn't have to be a goal it can be a moment like that that sets you up and for life I'm sure
00:04:37it'll be loved by these Spurs fans. Yeah I think he's he's such a vital player for them they can
00:04:43play a high line with him he's so quick him and Romero's experience but like Rio said it's those
00:04:48moments in games that change the course of everything Man United had a lot of possession
00:04:53they were really on top the second half and yeah I think having that experience at the back with
00:04:57Romero with van der Ven really just absorbed that pressure and yeah got him over the line.
00:05:02Do you feel like a lot of the fine margins in the game tonight went Spurs' way Glenn?
00:05:07Well of course that happens in the final you need that to go it's gone it's gone against Tottenham
00:05:11let's face it there was a penalty against Liverpool in the Champions League final and
00:05:14after 30 seconds you can say look life goes in cycles it comes back around they had a good
00:05:20little bit of good fortune but they were good saves and they were a great clearance from van
00:05:24der Ven as well which was if that lad can play in any club in the world if he wants to and I'm
00:05:29so glad that he's at Tottenham with us. There you go and Bostockoglu in the picture now I'm so
00:05:33interested to hear what he's got to say when he picks up that trophy I think I want to see him
00:05:38enjoy it but there's been a lot being said there's been a lot thrown at him with this season his
00:05:42reaction. That's class. That is class. Commiserating with all the Man United players.
00:05:47That's top quality that really is. Does it make it even more impressive because of the
00:05:53the criticism he's had the pressure he's been under people have questioned his credentials
00:05:59Glenn does that make this achievement even better? Well I think it does in a way because it's very
00:06:05difficult to we all say it's very difficult to turn it on and off like a switch and it's almost
00:06:11like they've put the league to one side they had loads of injuries to key players 11 10 injuries
00:06:16sometimes but then he's gone right Europa we got to step up here I'm going to play the right team
00:06:21they've defended really well in Europa games. We've seen a lot of mature performances haven't
00:06:26we in Europe in the knockout round? Oh absolutely they've plugged every hole there today United
00:06:31all right you can criticise them for not creating but actually they found it very hard to break
00:06:35Tottenham down and they couldn't get in behind them. On that point exactly that's one question
00:06:40Mark I would have had for the selection today for Man United. Uberman spoke about bringing
00:06:44Mason Mountain yeah picking it up in midfield but we didn't have anybody running in behind
00:06:49and Garnaccio done that all season when he's played with you like him in terms of his finishing
00:06:53he's then put up but he does give you that threat that stretches teams and at no point in this game
00:06:57really were Spurs stretched in that sense. Tottenham will also be playing Champions League
00:07:03football next season and that will please Daniel Levy it's brilliant for the fans as well is all
00:07:09of this enough do you think Gareth to get everyone behind Andre Poglia? I think only the chairman
00:07:14can decide that to be honest there's been so much talk whether he goes or whether he doesn't
00:07:20I guess it'll be interesting to see now because he's won a trophy he's the first Tottenham manager
00:07:25to do so in a long time so yeah I guess the board has some decisions to make and they either back
00:07:30him or don't and they've got to do it soon. Would you like to see him stay? I like the football that
00:07:35he plays obviously he lacks a bit of a plan b but tonight's show there is a plan b there's
00:07:39a different side to how he's played so I guess as a manager if he also matures as a manager and
00:07:45brings that kind of defensive side to his teams yeah of course he can still have great success here
00:07:51Lindsay I think if he gets the balance whenever he's got the balance right between defending
00:07:54and attacking Man City away Frankfurt away tonight that we're a good side. Is that down to having
00:08:00those players fit though which he hasn't had all season? Yeah and when he didn't have any fit that's
00:08:05where I felt the mistake was made where he kept playing the same way and leaving the two centre
00:08:09backs isolated but you know the big games we produced good defensive performance as well as
00:08:15we've got some you know in the last third we've got people like Johnson who scores goals yet
00:08:19Schelanke works so hard so we will score goals that said but you know all in all this final was
00:08:25just about it wasn't a classic it wasn't a quality game but it was about winning of course and
00:08:30and this club hasn't won anything for 17 years and why were his supporters are just going to
00:08:34take it all in and rightly so. Glenn when we walk back down to the pitch we walk back down
00:08:40on the 84th minute and I felt at the time that might be quite symbolic. Oh 84 yeah I see where
00:08:47you're coming from I'm glad I didn't think of that Lindsay because I was going through hell as it was
00:08:53but yeah these players writing their name into the Spurs history books they're just having
00:08:58the photographs behind us getting ready for for the presentation a huge night for them it means
00:09:05so much you can you can really feel it in here from the fans Rio. Yeah listen we the Spurs fans
00:09:11we heard Brendan Johnson talk about they've been the butt of many jokes from other teams
00:09:14about they can't win a trophy especially you but they proved today they shut a lot of people up
00:09:21and that argument in the pubs and and in front rooms all around the country will have to be
00:09:25stopped now because they've proved that they've got that monkey off their back now and they can
00:09:29hopefully build in on this and I've got to be honest with you I've got a bit of a soft spot for
00:09:33Antipas Tkogli because I think he's coming for a lot of criticism some of it unfair and yes he's
00:09:37been prickly at times but who wouldn't be one of that type of scrutiny and the criticism he's been
00:09:41under so these players are they gotta go and enjoy it but I think it's got to be a time to propel
00:09:46them on now to some more success and sustain success and to build the Premier League season
00:09:50this year wasn't good enough and they've got something to build on now and some real good
00:09:54good spirit now going from this game again that builds winning mentality winning trophies like
00:09:58Amarin spoke about it before winning breeds winning and they've got like you said they've
00:10:03got that monkey off their back now they have money to invest again for next season they can attract
00:10:07better players so yeah it's the belief that happens your belief goes up another notch without
00:10:12a shadow of a doubt when you've won something you actually believe the next one's coming around the
00:10:16around the corner and that's what they've got to do now enjoy tonight of course and get that
00:10:21back but this is a stepping stone only for more success
00:10:29well the trophy drought is over Tottenham Hotspur will lift silverware for the first time
00:10:34in 17 years the Spurs fans dreams have come true in Bilbao tonight let's rejoin Darren Fletcher
00:10:41and Ali McCoy now for the presentation as the Manchester United players go through they were
00:10:48led up there by their captain Bruno Fernandes have been the numbers alley for Manchester United
00:10:52this season are damning 20 losses in all competitions which is which is their worst since
00:10:581974 which is 51 years if you don't want to add it all together and only six seasons in the club's
00:11:07history have they lost more games than they've lost this season they're 16th in the premier
00:11:12league and they're collecting losers medals here Ruben Amarim's come in this has been the only
00:11:17competition that truly given them any kind of solace everywhere else you look this Manchester
00:11:23United team and this Manchester United club seems a million miles away from where it needs to be
00:11:28and in reality they didn't really show up tonight did they? No they never they never truth be told you know
00:11:33the combined figures of both sides this season have been horrendous Manchester United went into
00:11:40the game undefeated in this competition but boy they didn't play like it tonight as I said
00:11:47it's probably a conversation for another day how poor the two teams have been this season
00:11:52again I mentioned Tottenham won't care but United didn't do enough today not enough
00:11:56the medals being placed around the players necks by the UEFA president Alexander Seferin
00:12:03and Jim Ratcliffe cuts a disconsolate figure up there it's a different night
00:12:09tonight though for those Tottenham players and for their chairman Daniel Levy
00:12:13and it's Tottenham's big moment and there's a lot of excitement down there in the line
00:12:19finally the Tottenham players can step up there and get their medals and there's Ange Poster
00:12:24Coglou wins a trophy in his second season as he said he would his 100th game in charge of Tottenham
00:12:31and it's his biggest win with the club tonight the first man to lead Spurs to silverware since
00:12:352008 and even Brennan Johnson said if he wants to do the mic drop it's the perfect night to do it
00:12:43and just walk off into the sunset but he's got a trophy for them and he told everybody he would
00:12:48yeah I don't mind telling you I've got my cards on the table I'm absolutely delighted for him
00:12:54I'm absolutely delighted for Bagan Jam because a lot of the criticism has even over the top
00:13:01because a lot of the criticism has even over the top
00:13:05some of it particularly in the build-up to this final I have to mention
00:13:09so nobody I don't think anybody can grudge a man this trophy
00:13:15well the man who's got the big responsibility is right at the back of the Tottenham line
00:13:20Heung-Min Son who's going to stride forward soon and pick up the trophy the medals being placed
00:13:26around the necks of the Tottenham Hotspur players there's a gigantic smile on Brennan
00:13:32Johnson's face his 18th goal of the season is his biggest by margin that smile will be there
00:13:39to pre-season that's not coming off in a while Di Cario with a massive save late on to deny Luke
00:13:45Shaw and let's not forget that wonderful goal line clearance as well from Micky van der Ven
00:13:49it's fantastic absolutely athleticism to get back there on the line goalkeeper a little bit
00:13:58of a mistake Hoyland might have scored but take nothing away from the save from the big centre
00:14:04back there's a Desjan Kulishevsky couldn't play tonight Yves Bissouma who played his part
00:14:15Cristian Romero who was the captain at the start but the time's come for Tottenham to
00:14:20stand on the top step once again after 17 years they finally win a trophy and in doing so
00:14:26qualify for the Champions League next season that's so big for them and this roller coaster
00:14:33season ends with glory in Bilbao and a first European trophy since 1984
00:14:41words from Alexander Seferin to Jungmin Son with that big smile on his face and he steps forward
00:14:46the perfect man for the perfect moment and he kisses the big silver trophy
00:14:53and with his teammates all around and he lifts it high into the Bilbao night air it's a moment
00:14:59to cherish for everyone associated with the club the Europa League belongs to Tottenham in 2025
00:15:06the Europa League belongs to Tottenham in 2025 Tottenham Hotspur are winners once again
00:15:37Tottenham Hotspur lifting their fourth European trophy their 18th major trophy their first one
00:15:45in 17 years you can see exactly what it means to all of the fans in this stadium the players
00:15:51celebrating as well and Gareth especially for Son as well lifting that trophy does that
00:15:59that kind of make his decade at the club perfect now yes the icing on the cake he's had a great
00:16:05Tottenham career a great servant to the club achieved everything apart from this so yeah I'm
00:16:10so happy that he's the captain he's the one that's lifted the trophy and obviously I know
00:16:15him personally so very very very happy for him totally deserved and yeah I'm sure they'll all
00:16:21enjoy tonight did it feel a bit like a personal mission for him to lift silver with the club
00:16:27he talks about completing the puzzle well very much so I mean like the club getting that monkey
00:16:33off your back it was the same for Son as well let's be fair he's played he's been such a great
00:16:38player for Tottenham over the years the goals he scored the quality that was given and the fact
00:16:42that he's actually not started he was disappointed but he was on the pitch there in that last what
00:16:47half an hour at the vital time when they all had to dig in it was a different type of a game that
00:16:52Son would be used to but he dug in for the team he's captain and he had a he had a you know he
00:16:57defensively done his job and that he helped him get right over the line some players careers don't
00:17:02actually get what they what they deserve sometimes at the end of it unfortunately in this game but I
00:17:06was actually if I was going to take any positives from that one of them would be to see Son who's
00:17:10had a wonderful career and for him to finish a career without a trophy would have been a would
00:17:14have been a sad thing for him I'm sure so to get a European trophy from someone like him
00:17:19in a time where he's probably not playing his best football really that must be a huge pickup
00:17:23for someone like him but they've got to enjoy it we've said about it before you've got this can't
00:17:27be just a win this one and then waste away again they've got a build on this now
00:17:31Levy the people at the top of the club they've got to try and make sure this manager stays as
00:17:35well that's an important factor if they can build on that then they have a good chance because you
00:17:40can see they've got a good set of fans they've got a great stadium they've got a great training ground
00:17:43it's all set up here for success well I think as well we spoke about winning beating United three
00:17:49times to do it four times in one season is quite incredible it's not easy people out there don't
00:17:54realize that the standard of football in the Premier League it's unique and at the moment
00:17:59where it's like we said a lot about it before the game where it was like well they're out there spurs
00:18:04it's now been reversed a little bit with the results that spurs have got against United in
00:18:08the last what six years right six years yeah absolutely big night for for Brennan Johnson
00:18:14as well can you remember that that feeling when you've just lifted your first European trophy and
00:18:20you're celebrating them right in front of the fans yeah they'll remember this for the rest of
00:18:24their lives for sure they'll be able to look back on this moment and just cherish those memories
00:18:30there's nothing like it like lifting a trophy like these guys will tell you it's why you play
00:18:34football it's why you wake up every morning it's why you sacrificed everything for your family your
00:18:38kids and uh yeah they'll they'll just they're down in history they're part of football history now
00:18:45I'll tell you one thing there'll be a few sore heads in the morning my first European trophy I
00:18:50think it's probably the most soreness that I've ever had in my life but one I've cherished and
00:18:54I'm sure there'll be a few in there doing that and enjoying it and like the guys say these nights
00:18:59this is why you wake up every day you get to training every day you work your socks off
00:19:03your sacrifice your family's sacrifice so you've got to enjoy with your back and networking your
00:19:07family and friends I don't know whether you agree uh Rio Garrett but tonight I felt Tottenham come
00:19:13here the fans the team they felt as if we're going to win this where I think in the Champions
00:19:18League against Liverpool I said before the game it was almost we're just turning up we're a part
00:19:21of the scene part of the party but we're not the main part of the party whereas I felt the fans
00:19:26everyone that there was real genuine belief probably because we've beaten the United three
00:19:29times I thought I thought it was I thought both teams are scared to win I keep saying I thought
00:19:34I didn't really feel anyone went out there and went right for the standpoint priority on the
00:19:37game when this is our game I thought once the game started after 10-15 minutes whoever got
00:19:42that first goal probably gonna go win it does this have to now as we always say be transformative
00:19:50for them going forward to build on it for that to happen do you think they need to stick with that
00:19:56rather than starting again with a whole new reset again it's it's down to the board obviously he's
00:20:02proven that he can win trophies he promised he wins trophies and he has so if you're a if you're
00:20:08a Tottenham fan I'm sure you have a bit of a mixed opinion at the moment because I'm sure
00:20:12prior to the game a lot of people wanted him out and now he's won a trophy yeah I'm sure there's
00:20:18going to be a bit of confusion there but um if you if you have a vote now at this moment in time
00:20:27exactly but but as Brennan Johnson said would he have every right be able to do the mic drop
00:20:32yeah but listen there aren't many managers that come into this league in the Premier League and
00:20:36go you know I'm going to win a trophy on this date or in this season and produce it's a big
00:20:42thing to come and say that he's had to show a lot of character and obviously then it's been
00:20:46something that's almost been on his behind towards the end he took a big risk in doing that but he's
00:20:52put his best foot forward he's put his flag in the sand and went right I'm going to do it and
00:20:56then he's done it real as a player I would have loved my manager to have said that you know it's
00:21:00put pressure on him and I think it was after the Arsenal defeat actually he's come out he's
00:21:04emotional he's asked the question so it was one of them scenarios where he probably think went
00:21:08back in and went what did I say but he meant it and he meant it because he's done it before
00:21:12and do you think that gave the players belief and transmitted to them it's easy to say because
00:21:17we've won the trophy now but actually we had some obstacles nobody fancied us over in Frankfurt
00:21:22that was going to be a tough tough game we get over that hurdle then away the Bodo which was
00:21:27a difficult place to play they'd smashed everyone up there and we went we go and get professional
00:21:31result there and now we're coming into this final we there was belief there and I think that's good
00:21:36the players would have gone hey let's embrace this let's like the gaffer said that he believes in
00:21:40this let's go and do it but just to flip it back to Manchester United I think there's a
00:21:44it's a big rebuild isn't there they're going to be in the summer and I think that
00:21:48that recruitment list that they had if they won it that's got to be scrapped now because they're
00:21:53not going to Champions League football is a completely different list now they're going
00:21:55to have to go and recruit from be interested to see how it goes in the summer I think now
00:22:00obviously with this manager not having European football I think you'll have the time on the
00:22:04training pitch now where there's no European nights maybe to get their style of football maybe
00:22:08get them playing maybe in hindsight it's not a terrible thing for my United gives this manager
00:22:13now a platform to stamp his style of play on the club and give him time do you think that whole
00:22:19list of transfers that they may have had we are now being like crossed out and redone in Manchester
00:22:24United for the summer I do I think it's a new set of players that you're gonna have to go and
00:22:27recruit because there's certain players that aren't gonna just think about Manchester United's
00:22:31badging history they're gonna think I've got a short career I've got maybe another couple of
00:22:35years at the top and I want Champions League football immediately and if Man United haven't
00:22:38got it doesn't matter what happens because you haven't got Alex Ferguson there and you haven't
00:22:42got a culture of winning at the club just going to draw players well what brilliant scenes here
00:22:47as the Spurs players celebrate with the fans carrying that trophy all 15 kilograms of it all
00:22:53the way around the stands where their fans are celebrating in front of them we'll have a lot more
00:22:58to come here from Bilbao also more on the inquest that is coming surely for Manchester United we've
00:23:05also got three more UEFA finals to bring you as well we've also got the final day of Serie A on
00:23:11Friday night and we're bringing you two title deciding games Napoli one point ahead of Inter
00:23:17in that we're bringing you their game and also Inter at Como and then it is the Women's Champions
00:23:23League final Arsenal against Barcelona on Saturday on TNT Sports 1 we've also got Man United Villa
00:23:30on Sunday on the last day of the Premier League the Conference League final as well Chelsea
00:23:36against Betis and then the Champions League final on Saturday the 31st of May that's PSG
00:23:42against Inter and our build-up from Munich from six and adding to our extraordinary football lineup
00:23:48for next season TNT Sports will be the home of the Emirates FA Cup and Adobe Women's FA Cup
00:23:54with more live games broadcast than ever before from both competitions
00:24:02well Tottenham Hotspur are the 2025 Europa League champions winning their first major
00:24:09trophy since 2008 redemption for Ange Postacoglou the players becoming heroes
00:24:21Salah delivers the cross it towards Brennan Johnson it's in
00:24:26it's first blood to Tottenham in the Europa League final
00:24:29and it's Brennan Johnson the leading scorer who delivers in Bilbao
00:24:34Tottenham Hotspur season ends with European glory Europa League winners and they have a seat back
00:24:45at European football's top table the fans still celebrating in the stands here I think they're
00:24:51going to be here for a long time to come Glenn they're not going home Linz they're not going
00:24:56home we've got a long night here look they're having a chat they're just taking it all in
00:25:00so the fans you know it's been so so there's a generation here of Spurs fans that haven't seen
00:25:06us pick a cup up the older ones have of course they have but no it's a wonderful wonderful
00:25:10reason for the club it really is and uh you know I was got quite emotional at the uh at full time
00:25:16I must say I must say yeah because uh still these fans they deserve it they're a good set of fans
00:25:22and we are a big club I don't care what people say we are still a big club you know when you
00:25:26travel around Glenn you're obviously a Spurs legend what what was the the talk all the time
00:25:31was it about the lack of trophies and whatnot about the club and this is almost like you're
00:25:35you're gonna your shoulders can relax a bit now when you're walking about London and other places
00:25:39in England yeah I think that's I think you just you've got one foot over that line now I think
00:25:44that's the problem as well over when it goes for a period of time the fans and even even the players
00:25:50feel it's like you take it for granted but you deal with it it's normal until you win something
00:25:57that's why it's so big mentally this is so big for the club and if they if they do some good
00:26:02things in the summer and they improve the squad keep everyone fit now you're in the champions
00:26:06league any players that might have been looking to go away possibly might stay as well now and
00:26:12then you know then you your next one could be around the corner and I don't care even if it's
00:26:16a league cup or an FA cup but you winning breeds winning good habits yeah don't forget they've got
00:26:21another chance of a trophy in the super cup now so they do against Intel or PSG as well we're
00:26:27already on to the next one that's one to look forward to as well how do you think Gareth that
00:26:32they've actually managed to to not let the that league form affect this competition and the way
00:26:38they've played in it I think like we spoke about before it kind of got to the point where they
00:26:43weren't getting any they weren't getting relegated they weren't getting European football through the
00:26:47league so it was kind of almost just playing the games kind of for the sake of it and having that
00:26:53cup run and just carrying on and here is the Europa League winning manager and Foster Cogley
00:26:59were big size there and you've ended the 17 year trophy drought their first European cup since 84
00:27:07just tell us what was going through your mind on that final whistle
00:27:10look I'm still kind of taking it all in it's um I know what it means for this football club you know
00:27:19and unfortunately the longer it goes on it's harder to break that cycle sometimes and you
00:27:25know even I can sense the nervousness in everybody at the club because they've been in a situation
00:27:31before and until you get that until you break that sort of take that monkey off your back it's
00:27:36you never understand what it feels like and we've got a really young group but I'm hoping
00:27:41them tasting this now and the success they have you guys will know it feeds into itself you know
00:27:47they feel differently about themselves and mainly for the supporters because um you know there's
00:27:52probably been supporters who've been following us for those 41 years we haven't won one in Europe and
00:27:5717 you know and um just what it means to them it's incredible and I think he was a criticized
00:28:02quite a lot during the season and people saying oh where's the plan b etc I think at times in
00:28:07Europe today especially you showed there's a different way that you can set a team up to play
00:28:13what's what was the reasons for for doing that today compared to what you've been doing before
00:28:16I've always felt that kind of knockout football is different from your league football you know
00:28:23when you're in that situation it comes down to really good organization you know Billy having
00:28:28a real game clear game plan and then moments and if you can minimize your moments the opposition
00:28:33have I've been having a really strong foundation and to be honest I felt with having Romero
00:28:38Vandervin Doggie Porro Vicario and goal we haven't had that luxury a lot and with the
00:28:45Suman Bendigo I just felt we're gonna be really hard to break down we could have been a little
00:28:49bit better in transition today I thought we had our moments we could have worked that better but
00:28:54I always felt comfortable that if we got ahead that we could sort of negate you know most of what
00:29:00man you were going to throw at us and you said you were going to win something in that second
00:29:04year and you bloody well went and done it good man so pleased for you thank you really pleased
00:29:09for you thank you and do you think that helped the players when you said that come out and said
00:29:12that the pressure was on you but did it help them did they believe a bit more yeah I think
00:29:16people misinterpret it wasn't me boasting it was it was me just making a declaration that's
00:29:21and I believed it you know at the time I said it you know still in the Carabao Cup I just had
00:29:26this thing inside me that more than anything else and I know our league form's been terrible
00:29:31nowhere near good enough and unacceptable but us finishing third wasn't going to change this
00:29:35football club the only thing that was going to change this football club is us winning something
00:29:39and when I said that that was my intent I'm not afraid to declare it if I fell short I was happy
00:29:46but I believed it inside me that that was my ambition I wanted it stated I couldn't expect
00:29:52anyone from the club to say that because the club's been so close but I could say that and
00:29:56I was prepared to wear it if it didn't happen the beauty of it is people kept reminding me of it but
00:30:01the reason they kept reminding me of it was that there was still a chance to do it so
00:30:04I was comfortable with it I bet you feel like getting it printed on a t-shirt now
00:30:09walking around in it so how does this change the perception of the club and also the way that the
00:30:14club perceives itself I think that's the more important thing it's how the club perceives
00:30:18itself you know I felt it's just you know being at the club for the last couple of years
00:30:25it seems you know and because of what's happened in Ghana it's history that people are quick to
00:30:31take shots at the club and I felt at times the club hasn't defended itself as strongly as it
00:30:35should and I understand that because people have been here a long time and they haven't got anything
00:30:40to sort of lean on to but I'm hoping this does you know that there's no reason now why they can't
00:30:46go into next year believing they can win again and another trophy and building a
00:30:50scene that consistently strives to win things and I think if you see yourself in that way
00:30:56irrespective what the noise is from the outside I mean that's what the great clubs do you know
00:31:00they expect success because they've had it you know and hopefully this taste of it
00:31:04takes the club forward and I think you've unfairly at times been criticised you've
00:31:08been taking quite a lot of shots in press conferences in different parts of the media
00:31:11and I think there's been a lot of people saying listen you they could see you winning this game
00:31:15and saying after after two years I said I'd do it I could walk away where's your mind that now
00:31:20after a game like this and winning again you know I've had such a laser focus on winning this thing
00:31:25I didn't whatever happens happens I I said yesterday I we're still building this team
00:31:32it's still a very young team we need to add some some experience to it we're in the champions league
00:31:39and my thought process and what I've been doing this year is trying to build a team
00:31:43that can be successful for four or five six years now but I'm the manager of the football club that
00:31:48decision is not in my hands it doesn't affect me though like if it was going to affect me you
00:31:53would have seen it in the build-up to here I just all I cared about is this thing you know
00:31:57having this thing around my neck because if I did that meant that this football club has won a trophy
00:32:01but now you've got that thing do you do you feel like just doing the mic drop or do you want to
00:32:07stay and build something with this club I've said that you know I said I don't feel like I've
00:32:12completed the job yet we're still building um but the moment I accepted the role I had one thing in
00:32:19my head and that is to win something um more than anything else and uh we've done that now so
00:32:25I want to build on it can I ask you as well about Sonny yeah you made him captain how much did you
00:32:31want that for him tonight after 10 years loyal service to the massive and yeah these two guys
00:32:36will tell you that we've had some unbelievable champion footballers come to this football club
00:32:41Harry's a prime example but there's so many I could go through that haven't had a day like this
00:32:47and uh I wanted a day like this for Sonny you know because you know he's he's done everything
00:32:52he can in the last 10 years to try and get this feeling and for one reason or another it hasn't
00:32:57worked so you know I'm you know it was kind of something in my head and I've spoken to players
00:33:02a lot about it that you know in the outside the dressing rooms in the hallway there's photos of
00:33:09the winning teams you know and I said to Sonny we've got to get you up there you know he's a
00:33:13legend now and um he's there now so you've made a bunch of legends now they're going to be written
00:33:19in the folklore of this football club forever looking forward past that recruitment season's
00:33:23coming now have you now got a different list compared to what you would have had
00:33:33look I think there's an opportunity here that's that's my belief you know because
00:33:37you build on this the feeling of those players in there they'll want this again yeah because
00:33:42until you feel it you can't you can't describe it to people you know until you win something you
00:33:46can tell them how it's going to feel but they've got it now and they're not going to want to let
00:33:50it go but we need to build on that for sure and congratulations well done thank you well done
00:33:57well done enjoy the celebration thank you you know what when you when you speak to him
00:34:04he's not a loveable character he's warm he brings you in doesn't he he's got that human
00:34:09human side to him frio he showed a lot of class yeah you know the final whistle goes and your
00:34:14emotions are up there and he spent some time with his staff and then the next thing he's
00:34:18gone to them every Manchester United player just to speak to him and that's that's really
00:34:24that's really top class that he's getting the alley love there now
00:34:28I think I think one thing you can say about Ang is just a very humble guy even in press
00:34:33conferences he will always speak the truth he'll always speak his heart he's kind of like I said
00:34:38he's worn his heart on his sleeve and he protects his players under any scrutiny he'll always take
00:34:43the flack whether they've made a mistake on the pitch through through mistakes he will always
00:34:47take it on his chin and I think the players have rallied behind him and they've given him what he
00:34:52they have they've put it all on the line tonight especially Micky van de Ven who was exceptional
00:34:58that goal and clearance absolutely unbelievable earlier on he spoke to duels Micky these fans
00:35:04they are singing your name right now how does that feel unbelievable feeling can't really describe it
00:35:10to be honest what can I say look around you unbelievable you've lifted the trophy now you
00:35:16felt in your hands a trophy that this club have wanted for over 17 years what does it mean to you
00:35:22all to do it we always believe in this squad of people like if you look at the group we have if
00:35:28you look at the stuff everybody can believe even if we had a tough season and the fans everybody
00:35:34the club everybody they're singing your name again talk to us about that goal line clearance
00:35:40because it ended up being one of the moments of the game yeah I saw the ball came in and
00:35:47Vic I think it bounced on Vic's head and I was like now I have to go to the goal and the ball
00:35:52came high and first I was like how I'm gonna do this and then I just cleared it and to be honest
00:35:58my back and the ground over there is not soft I can tell you but yeah I don't know I haven't watched
00:36:03it back in but yeah happy to help the team for you personally as well it's been such a tricky
00:36:08season because you've been injured for a lot of it so what does it mean to you to be able to be fit
00:36:13and play in this final and be one of the men in the match that made it all happen yeah unbelievable
00:36:19feeling tough season for myself also with injuries of course I struggled all season didn't play a lot
00:36:26but every rehab season was every rehab was worth it to stand here and to lift this trophy
00:36:31go and celebrate with your teammates enjoy
00:36:33a crucial intervention from Micky van der Ven in that game look at those scenes there and
00:36:38Prostokoglou with his wife and two sons they traveled all the way to the arctic circle to
00:36:43support him in the semi-final he said he promised them a trip to Bilbao he's delivered that and he's
00:36:50also delivered the Europa League trophy for Spurs tonight I'm sure his family are so so proud
00:36:56the Tottenham players becoming heroes tonight writing their names into the history books as
00:37:02Spurs turn a difficult season into a glorious one beating Manchester United in the Europa League
00:37:10final 1-0
00:37:26a huge night for the players a special one for the fans and an emotional one for the skipper
00:37:35young Min Sun after 10 years at the club he finally gets his hands on silverware
00:37:41and Sunny is with us now Sun are you a legend now
00:37:48he already was yeah let's say I'm a legend
00:37:50you said once you wouldn't call yourself a legend until you'd won a trophy with the club
00:38:00look I mean 17 years nobody haven't done it so with such amazing players yeah today's the day
00:38:06probably I would say today I'm a legend of this club so yeah let's enjoy let's let's celebrate
00:38:11how does it feel winning first first trophy for 17 years wow feeling amazing that's what I always
00:38:18dream for and today is the day that happened dream come really really true so yeah yeah what
00:38:26can I say I'm so so happy happy as the man in the world how how important has your manager been I
00:38:31think he's been under a lot of pressure a lot of scrutiny a lot of criticism you as the captain
00:38:35what have you felt like behind that and how do you feel now we've won this lifted show for him
00:38:39look I mean in this back in the day as when you look at the whole season there will be always
00:38:45some situation you're you're having tough times so but we as a player we always stuck together
00:38:51with the injuries with the young players they always step up and I always give them some good
00:38:58advice you know I always want to talk to positive and I think I've I'm very lucky that having such
00:39:05an amazing group of player with me and that's why I think it was it was the tournaments happen
00:39:12well congratulations because if there's anyone out of that squad that deserves a trophy it's you
00:39:17Sonny with the football that you the goals you've scored the way you've played you are a true legend
00:39:22thank you very much thank you very much we just saw some of the tweets coming on the screen they're
00:39:27saying nobody deserves it more than Sonny the the fans really wanted that for you yeah I mean
00:39:34I felt I felt the pressure as well so I mean I won it so badly look last seven days I was
00:39:42dreaming dreaming about this this game every single day there was the same picture same
00:39:46dreaming so yeah finally happened I can sleep with now easy nice sleep and I can enjoy it
00:39:54are you taking the trophy home to your house tonight that's the big question no I think I
00:39:58think there will be so much so much confidence like because everybody was having I didn't even
00:40:05touch it the trophy this was having it so like everybody let's enjoy the the moment I'll be the

00:40:19it's a it's a moment you need to savor for life you're gonna have a sore head tomorrow yeah
00:40:24probably probably we're gonna miss the flight
00:40:27no we hope not but we hope now we try so yeah look I mean today's the day we can celebrate
00:40:32whatever they want so let's let's just make the the day they they will never forget and
00:40:38maybe maybe I'll miss the flight what would be great is Sunday Brighton game going around the
00:40:46stadium with the trophy wow what a way to finish the season wow maybe maybe we can call it off
00:40:54no I'm joking I'm joking obviously yeah it would be really great bring a bring a trophy back home
00:40:58and in front of our fans show that our trophy will be will be will be amazing so yeah because
00:41:04normally you win a trophy at the end of the season and that's it you have to wait for the parade but
00:41:08that's going to be some some parade round I think they were trying to get the fans off the pitch
00:41:12there they were celebrating so much to actually say we have a game on Sunday yeah what we got
00:41:18two pitches don't worry we live only today this was the reaction back back in north London sunny
00:41:25amazing amazing amazing so yeah I see you all on Sunday let's see biggest smile then today do you
00:41:31know what I'm interested to see how the fans in South Korea are going to be celebrating as well
00:41:35because you're an absolute hero you think about David Beckham here being a hero this guy is on
00:41:40them levels when you go back to South Korea they must be so happy for you as well I'm sure that's
00:41:44boot sales just gone up yeah look at that look at that no I mean very proud to be Korean
00:41:55win the trophy and I just want to say thank you to Korean fans that it was for 4am and they're
00:42:01supporting me like crazy like a family and yeah here's the trophy and here's the biggest smile
00:42:06and even more special you've won silverware in the same season that that Harry won silverware as
00:42:14well are you going to FaceTime him you can compare trophies look I mean there's different trophies
00:42:20but we both had an unbelievable friendship partnership as a player so I was so happy
00:42:29that he won the first trophy and also I spoke to another media but Harry we won as well
00:42:37thank you you might as well FaceTime him now on your phone get hold of him now get him on I don't
00:42:40have my phone Sonny you might have to face him in the Champions League next season as well has
00:42:46that sunk in that you're back at European football's top table oh it would be great I mean
00:42:52the Champions League is always you know you want to play against the best team in the world so
00:42:56yeah we might play against Harry so we never know but we'll be grateful playing against each other
00:43:01again you have another chance at a trophy with a super cup as well so yeah another trophy in three
00:43:06months maybe you might have two ahead of Harry let's do it congratulations try not to miss the
00:43:13flight but enjoy that enjoy the party thank you very much brilliant thank you thank you thank you
00:43:18well done well done well done Sonny there's another likable guy isn't it with a Tottenham
00:43:25shirt from Tottenham they love him these fans though I mean he's done some amazing things over
00:43:30his career and like I said before it'd been a shame for a player that quality for that long
00:43:34to have finished his career without a trophy so far in that respect I'm I'm happy for him is there
00:43:39no one that deserves it more he's literally the most likable character in football I think
00:43:45always a smile he's he's feisty in the change room though he does have that other side to him
00:43:50which is great to see but not a lot of people get to see that but I think yeah a likable character
00:43:56been an absolute amazing servant to Tottenham Football Club and yeah he deserves this it was
00:44:02amazing actually because we were sitting at that end and we were we were looking I was watching him
00:44:06warm up and he knew he was going to get on at some stage and he was doing it what I call proper
00:44:11he was sprinting turning he was ready to come on and that's the pro that he is and and he is a
00:44:16lovely lovely chap you know I've met him a few times now and I'm so pleased that yes we've won
00:44:21it for Tottenham but we've won it for Sonny as well yeah absolutely without doubt a club legend
00:44:26while James Madison of course was injured tonight so couldn't play in the game but he played a big
00:44:31part on the way to Bilbao in helping Tottenham Hotspur to win the trophy tonight let's get some
00:44:36reaction from him he's with Jules yeah he might not have played Lindsay but he's got full kit on
00:44:41now James you've won you've done it I have to be fair they said I have to to get the medal is that
00:44:47right yeah I didn't want to do a John Terry when he went in the full kit with his shin pads in that
00:44:52but um oh what a special feeling man I know you're gutted that you weren't able to play tonight but
00:44:57now you're looking around at all of these Tottenham fans you've been dancing you've been
00:45:01singing what does it mean to you to have played such a big part this season to get them to the
00:45:06final as well winning winning makes it all right though you know the the pain and not being able
00:45:11to play is not being able to affect and help the team but if we win anyway I know I played a big
00:45:15part in the lead or not I deserve this just as much as all of us but it was the it was the not
00:45:20being able to affect it that and that affected me the most but pure adulation now it means so
00:45:26much to all of you players and I know you're all laughing up the celebrations Mickey van de Ven is
00:45:30actually in the crowd right now have a look at that I mean he's a big boy I hope he's being
00:45:36careful he probably wants to go see his family or something everyone's families are it's amazing
00:45:40honestly it's an incredible night for Tottenham they've been so desperate to win a trophy it's
00:45:46been over 17 years since they've done it now as well as the trophy you've got Champions League
00:45:51football next season how does that feel for you all but how do you build on it now going into next
00:45:56year oh now's not the time to be thinking about that I mean it's a brilliant it's a brilliant
00:46:01achievement and one of the ways you can qualify for the Champions League but it's more winning
00:46:06the trophy you know and giving these fans something to to shout about because they've had years and
00:46:10years of pain you know and now they can enjoy it how are you all going to celebrate who knows
00:46:16plenty of beer probably James thanks for talking to us go and enjoy the celebration thank you
00:46:27oh brilliant season the Tottenham corner but it's going to be a tough night in that
00:46:31Manchester United dressing room after losing the Europa League final to
00:46:37Tottenham Hotspur we're going to get the reaction from Ruben Amorim after the break
00:46:47players with the chance to write history to be part of something truly special what a setting
00:46:53for what should be a fantastic final Alessio Russo again for Arsenal and there's the only
00:46:59goal for Barcelona what a goal it is for Mario Nicole Dente Chelsea have a shot at a major trophy
00:47:07in the effort from James
00:47:10oh what a goal that was magnificent brilliant fantastic finish what an impact he is making
00:47:20a match that could hardly matter more what a start for PSG I've never seen anything like this
00:47:29we don't want to go
00:47:37so to a date with destiny
00:47:41what a month it is coming up on TNT sports tonight just the first of the four UEFA finals
00:47:48three more still to come in the next couple of weeks here though in Bilbao Tottenham Hotspur
00:47:54celebrating winning the Europa League but for Manchester United lots of questions to be
00:48:00answered they miss out on silverware they miss out on the Champions League and another big
00:48:06inquest is on the way we can get the post-match thoughts now from Ruben Amorim
00:48:12Ruben commiserations how do you assess the defeat on the pitch tonight
00:48:16we suffered a goal I think we especially in the second half we were in controlling of the game
00:48:21we had situations to score we try everything I think we start quite well the first five seven
00:48:29minutes then we lost a little bit control of the game we suffer a goal but then the rest of the
00:48:34game we had clear chances to score we didn't score why did you wait so long to make any changes in
00:48:40personnel second half because like you like like you saw I think you saw the same thing we start
00:48:46the second half quite well so change just for the people to to see that I changed something is not
00:48:52my way of doing things we were on on the top of the game and that when I felt that we need the
00:48:57different player I put a different player thoughts of course now we'll turn to this so the bigger
00:49:02picture at Manchester United yesterday in the press conference you mentioned how many things
00:49:07need to change but yesterday wasn't the moment to talk about them in your view what does now need
00:49:12to change this summer if yesterday was not the moment imagine this moment this moment is not to
00:49:18talk about is to to give space to the winners and to to to deal with the pain of losing this match
00:49:24and to go forward obviously without the Champions League that came with with the victory this
00:49:29evening how does that affect the summer does it affect how quickly and how much you can change
00:49:35that is that is clear but that is not the the important point we will find a way to to to make
00:49:41the the team better are you confident still that you're the man to be able to deliver those changes
00:49:46yes I'm confident that I'm still the guy more than more than the beginning so I know he's going to be
00:49:52tough I know that we we lost against an English team I know the the patience of of the fans are
00:49:58going to be really short in the next season but I I guarantee you I will not quit I will not go away
00:50:04so I'm really confident why are you more confident now than you were because I know the club I know
00:50:11what it means to to coach this this this club I understand what the team needs so I
00:50:17I have more tools to to do my job obviously all of the United hierarchy were here today with
00:50:24Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the Glazers, Omar Barrada, Jason Wilcox are you confident they will give you
00:50:29enough time to implement your change I'm not worried about that I can I can live in the next
00:50:33if they say Koeman is is better to change I will live in the next day with no compensation I'm
00:50:39so I realize so much in my confidence in the way I'm doing my job I'm not worried about that
00:50:46the the biggest pain is is to lose games and to lose this final and not to give something to the
00:50:51fans and especially to my players so whenever they want I'm really confident on on myself
00:50:56and I continue to do my job if the border wants me thank you thank you he's more confident than
00:51:03ever in his ability to do this job do you think he is still the right guy I think he he needs to
00:51:09be afforded a window I think you you can't invest in a manager and not give him the ability to kind
00:51:15of shuffle the pack and get some players in that fit the profile of players that he requires to
00:51:20implement his philosophy I think that I've said this before on numerous occasions he's his way
00:51:24of playing compared to the past regime is very very different formation and in terms of what
00:51:30he wants them to do in the output so it's not like he's a manager who's coming out to tweak a
00:51:34couple of things because his philosophy and identity of his team was similar to the past
00:51:37regime he needs I think I think he needs more time he hasn't had a pre-season he hasn't had
00:51:42time as as as Gareth said on the training pitch to coach these players as much as he would like
00:51:46I'm sure so we need I think he needs a couple of those things and a recruitment window to really
00:51:51then give him real judgment and be as harsh as you want to be because listen there's no doubt
00:51:55and I think he said it himself it's been a terrible season it's been a disaster of a season domestically
00:52:00and now not winning this after putting all your eggs in this basket this is a disaster as well in
00:52:04that sense so I think again rather than be emotional about it like there will be a lot of
00:52:09people out there that are and they're entitled to that but in the cold light of day I think he
00:52:14needs some time and like I said those things that I said before but there's been so much said about
00:52:18how much pressure and postacoglu is under this season Glenn do you think he should be under more
00:52:24pressure they've only won two premier league points since the start of April well I agree
00:52:28with Rio I think he will be under pressure if he doesn't start well next year the first 10 games
00:52:32are vital for United next year he didn't really want to come did he when he wanted to come he
00:52:37wanted to come at the end of the season anyway but they said no it's got to be now so he hasn't
00:52:41had to play any players that he really feels it are his and he hasn't had the time to to bed down
00:52:46the system they've never played three at the back united over the many many years now he he has to
00:52:52look at himself maybe in the summer to say in the premier league can I make this work it was
00:52:58different in the Portuguese then playing for sporting so at the end of the day he's got to
00:53:02look at that first and then he's got to go out and get the recruit the players that suits that
00:53:06at the moment they've got a batch of very good apart from Fernandez I think they've got a batch
00:53:11of really good players nothing well-classed nothing special that particularly this club
00:53:18I've always had in this world what will the pressure be like Gareth then at the start of
00:53:23next season now yeah of course it's going to be extremely high but I think everyone at the board
00:53:29I imagine wanted that manager it's kind of up to them now if they've made the right decision
00:53:35they should back him I think he clearly believes in himself and I think he did a great interview
00:53:40then he really was respectful to Tottenham the winners he didn't create any big headlines with
00:53:44his answers so I think that showed a true bit of class as well so I think if the board think he's
00:53:50the right guy they've got to back him and like I said before I think next season now he will
00:53:54have time with no European competition he'll have time to to work on things on the training field
00:53:58because they'll have no midweek games is that the one positive thing that he will have that time
00:54:03with the players because perhaps in their current situation the Champions League may have been a
00:54:07poison chalice for them yeah I think it'd be impossible for him to say that publicly but
00:54:12I think deep down him and his coaching staff we've been rubbing their hands together in some sort of
00:54:16way going listen we can now get our hands on these players a bit more and kind of mold them to what
00:54:20we believe is the right way to play and he's actually said they're not ready yeah and not
00:54:24ready I just don't think I don't know if they're not ready I don't think he has the profile of
00:54:29player to play the way he wants to play I don't think he has the players who are physically capable
00:54:33of going week in week out like man to man against any team in the Premier League and coming out
00:54:38confidently on top until he gets that I think he's the way he plays he needs to have players
00:54:42who can do that and that's why I think the recruitment period now is going to be vitally
00:54:46important I think that midfield area for United has been a massive problem I mean even the first
00:54:50half here Spurs didn't have the creation but the three in there for Tottenham tonight smothered
00:54:55them totally smothered them first off and they couldn't get hold of the ball they couldn't get
00:54:58themselves in into the game and I think in that you know when you think of the players they've
00:55:03in yesteryear in that midfield area they've got to look at that whether you're playing whatever
00:55:08system you've got to have that right they've been he's been swapping and swapping players
00:55:12and trying to find a little system that's going to help them when they have the wingbacks but
00:55:17I don't think I don't see a real clarity of the way the best they've played was at Anfield
00:55:22they caused Liverpool all sorts of problems in that 2-2 draw and they went long they didn't
00:55:28pass out and they got 46 possession percent possession playing long playing no no goal
00:55:33kicks squeezing up to the halfway line they still got enough and they caused Liverpool a lot of
00:55:38problems and I thought then oh hang on the pennies all dropped here for these players and they look
00:55:43threatening they look like a tough team to play against in that system it can be tonight they've
00:55:48run out of ideas again you can see he clearly doesn't have his type of player to play his way
00:55:54he's kind of had to I guess adapt and try and use the players that he's got to to make his style
00:56:00so I think giving him some transfer windows getting the players in that he wants to play
00:56:04his style to suit his way of pressing playing whatever it is he needs that time and I think
00:56:10that's the only way he'll be successful here and the club knew how rigid his approach was when they
00:56:14brought him in mid-season so so I guess they have to give him those players to give him a chance
00:56:19and that's why I believe they will give him that chance because they all know there's people in
00:56:23that in there Omar Jason Wilcox people have they understand football Jason's played the game
00:56:29they you know how important a pre-season is for a player and managers to to really implement their
00:56:34philosophy and get their things right and fine-tune things that pre-season window of opportunity on
00:56:38the grass is hugely important and another thing if they thought this season was a pressure cooker
00:56:43for these players this this next 10 games that started this season the pressure is going to be
00:56:47super high and these guys have got to be ready to bounce into this season and really hit it head on
00:56:52was it embarrassing did the players look embarrassing embarrassed when they were heading
00:56:56heading off the pitch walking past no I just think it's disappointing I've been there I've been on
00:57:00the pitch where you've you've not got got the result you you wanted and you lose a big big
00:57:04game in a cup final whether it's europe or domestic but it's disheartening it's embarrassing
00:57:08your pride and your ego's hurt there's there's pride and ego there's huge egos out there you
00:57:13don't get to this level of football without having a big ego and and putting your shoulders back and
00:57:16thinking I am the man but you get humbled quickly in these moments and you've got to deal with it
00:57:20and the summer becomes a long summer but you want it to come pre-season to come as quick as you can
00:57:25and get your studs back in the grass you're disappointed when you've lost the final there's
00:57:28no doubt about it but you you can't allow that doubt to come into your mind as a team and an
00:57:33individual if that engulfs you then you're going it's a negative and you're going to go down
00:57:37you've got to embrace it and you've got to fight it actually and make take the challenge on look
00:57:42forward it's hard at this moment in time in that dressing room but look forward to a pre-season
00:57:46believe in the manager it's easy when you've won Spurs will be looking forward to it you know
00:57:51after they've had a few drinks tonight with Sonny but at the end of the day you doubt yourself and
00:57:57you've got no chance and tonight of course belongs to Tottenham Hotspur Sonny said they
00:58:02might miss their flight tonight it's possible it started already Brennan Johnson's on the
00:58:07on the beers already look at what do you think of the swing from Archie Gray here Gareth
00:58:12i'm not sure he needs a new set of clubs
00:58:17Glen final final thought oh any better ah no not really he's a 10 handicap you can see
00:58:26final thoughts Glen from you on on what tonight means and and how Spurs can use this as a
00:58:31springboard yeah i mean very proud moment it's been a long time since we've uh we've won anything
00:58:36it's been a bit of a surprise with the way we've played at times this season um but they got over
00:58:41the line tonight second half i thought they defended so well but for the for the club now
00:58:46this is an enjoy this moment for different reasons than united really make this a stepping stone we
00:58:52went to the champions league with with a really good side and we didn't build on that we felt
00:58:57that there was a finished article and it wasn't and now they've got to really build from a positive
00:59:03from winning a trophy go and build and over the next i mean and said it the next three he's
00:59:08thinking in the next three or four seasons they're a young group they've got some good
00:59:12young talent and in four years time where will Tottenham be that's the question and let's hope
00:59:17it's another trophy in the cabinet and another one on top of that good players wanting to play
00:59:22at that stadium let's not think about the the stadium let's think about the squad but the club
00:59:28set up it is set up like all those the foundations are there they've built a stadium they've built
00:59:32a training ground for any player it's in London any player that come and they were trying to
00:59:36recruit with champions league football as well on the back of the Europa League i think it's a
00:59:41mouthful impossible for a player and united they've got to build in a new stadium yeah so on top of
00:59:46whatever yeah it's it's a real challenge that united situation everywhere you look really
00:59:52so let's have a little look at the social media reaction tonight as well Tottenham Hotspur
00:59:57very funny Spursy united that's absolutely brilliant and this from the fans i don't
01:00:04usually win things i always win things in my second year does that get rid of the Spursy
01:00:10tag once and for all Gareth it could be a unitedy thing now i'm telling you but um yeah
01:00:17it gets rid of that that uh stigma now for sure and uh hopefully we can build on it
01:00:21Glenn, Gareth, Liam, thank you very much indeed well they say that it's always darkest before
01:00:28dawn and maybe this European Cup win can be the dawn of a new era for Tottenham Hotspur the 2025
01:00:36Europa League champions they did it Glenn good night
01:00:44the players are just not delivering and just good enough to manage in the Premier League
01:00:48they look like a broken team they look scared the Premier League's finished for them
01:00:53everybody here is underperforming we're kind of in our
01:00:56hell-like positions not anywhere where it should be the worst team
01:00:59maybe in history of Manchester United the only competition that can save our season
01:01:06so the big night has arrived for Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United
01:01:10a competition that can save a season you can feel the pressure with so much on the line
01:01:17here's Brennan Johnson bursting in the angles against him
01:01:20will it be salvation for Spurs or redemption for the Reds
01:01:27Salah delivers the cross in towards Brennan Johnson it's in
01:01:32it's first blood to Tottenham in the Europa League final
01:01:37that's right down the throat to the keeper it's hits him and high legs header lots of clearance
01:01:42and Spurs have won the Europa League it's salvation for Spurs in Bilbao
01:01:47and after a 17-year wait they finally win a major trophy it's glory to Tottenham Hotspur
