Food editor Taylor Ann Spencer breaks down how to freeze eggs.
Transcript
00:00Here's how to freeze your eggs, culinarily speaking.
00:03Unfortunately, you just can't stick a full carton of eggs in your freezer and expect
00:07it to work.
00:08To freeze eggs, simply crack them into a bowl, beat them lightly with a fork, and then portion
00:13them into ice cube trays to freeze.
00:15You can put a quarter cup of whisked egg in each hole.
00:19A quarter cup usually equals one large egg.
00:23You can also freeze egg whites and egg yolks separately.
00:26The yolks need a little bit of a different process.
00:29Add a little salt or a little sugar, and just beat that in with them before portioning
00:33them into the molds, and that will prevent them from thickening as they freeze.
00:37With the whites, just whisk them very gently to loosen them up, and then portion into the
00:42ice cube trays just like you would the whole eggs.
00:45Frozen eggs are best used within four months, but they will keep in your freezer for up to
00:49a year.
