00:06comeback. Pacquiao announces Wednesday, May 21, he will challenge for the World Boxing Council
00:12welterweight belt, currently held by 30-year-old Mexican champion Mario Barrios. He writes,
00:17I'm back, let's make history. The match is scheduled for July 19 at the MGM Grand in Las
00:23Vegas, United States. Now 46 years old, Pacquiao can eclipse his own record as the oldest welterweight
00:28champion. He achieved this when he beat American Keith Thurman for the World Boxing Association's
00:34super title at the age of 40 in July 2019. Pacquiao retired in September 2021 as he sought
00:40the Philippine presidency. Despite retiring, Pacquiao fought in exhibition bouts, beating
00:45former WBA super bantamweight champion Jesus Salud and Korean martial artist DKU, and ending
00:51in a draw with Japanese kickboxer Rukiya Anpo.
