00:00Will the Tush Push be banned forever this week at NFL owner meetings in the Twin Cities?
00:07Of course, it was a very divisive vote back in late March, early April at the initial spring meetings in Palm Beach.
00:15By report, 16 yeses, 16 noes this week in Minneapolis.
00:20If Green Bay's proposed rule change to ban the Tush Push is passed, it will need 24 of 32 votes.
00:29That would be 75%, a super majority.
00:32Lisey Guy, I think as we have laid out on FFC either earlier today or yesterday, we do not believe the Tush Push should be banned.
00:41If you are highlighting health and safety, there's really not numbers, stats, and data that back up.
00:47It is a more dangerous play, that being the Tush Push, than any other in a violent ball.
00:51If you are citing a competitive advantage for the Philadelphia Eagles, the only team that really runs it with success,
00:58Well, that's on you.
01:00There's no grandfather rule.
01:01There's no loophole in the legislation that the birds are taking advantage of.
01:06They just invest in an offensive line that understands this will be a way of life up front in the trenches,
01:12and a quarterback who can squat 600 pounds to make this all worth it.
01:20So, Lisey, I do not believe the Tush Push should be banned.
01:24What say you?
01:24No, I don't either.
01:26And again, the fact that we're having multiple conversations throughout the offseason about this play is absolutely ridiculous to me.
01:33Because again, you're talking about one team that does it.
01:37All the rest of the league in the 31 can do exactly what Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles do.
01:44They have the same type of personnel.
01:47They have this.
01:47Some have bigger quarterbacks than Jalen Hurts.
01:50You can't tell me Josh Allen isn't bigger in body frame than obviously Jalen Hurts, right?
01:56And Lamar Jackson's an agile quarterback, right?
02:00I mean, Pat Mahomes is big.
02:02You can use it with anybody.
02:04And you can put two fullbacks.
02:06You can use a tight end.
02:07So, again, them saying, oh, this is a play that needs to be taken out of the game because they run it to perfection, and that's what it is, to perfection, that they're 99.9% successful on almost every attempt.
02:23That's on you.
02:24And, again, we're talking about a quarterback sneak that has been in the game, basically, for eons.
02:31I mean, we weren't talking about this 10 years ago because teams didn't have the ingenuity to just come up with it and said, why don't we try this?
02:39And that's where Sirianni and the staff have elevated this play to the next level.
02:45Again, I don't think it's going anywhere.
02:47And if you're a defense, you try to stop it.
02:49We talked about it.
02:50Don't put them in a fourth-and-one situation.
02:52And that's it.
02:54We're third-and-one.
02:55Make a play on first-and-second down.
02:57Wrap up and get them in third-and-fourth-and-long, and you don't have to worry about this.
03:03Yeah, completely agree, Joe, right?
03:05And that's really what it comes down to.
03:07There is no competitive advantage, simply, that Philadelphia is exploiting except executing the play better than anybody else in the NFL has or really has even attempted.
03:18It should be no surprise that a guy like Frankie Louvoo was asked about this yesterday.
03:23Of course, Washington linebacker, who was infamous, if you will, for getting three consecutive penalties on him in the fourth quarter of the NFC Championship game, prematurely diving across the line of scrimmage, trying to slow down said push-push.
03:40But, Lisey, I don't think it should be banned.
03:44I do think there is an idea that it might actually be banned.
03:48One of the reasons I say that is because of how closely disputed this thing was at the earlier spring meetings, tabled now to be voted on this week by the ownership around the NFL once again.
04:01And the Packers kind of changed around some wording and how the rule and its proposed change is, which is pulling or throwing a guy, maybe not necessarily just pushing him as such.
04:14If you can look at some of the verbiage and change it to make it more amenable for some people around the NFL, maybe that's the way they get it done.
04:22Again, you would need 24, at least 24 of 32 NFL owners to vote yes on this proposed rule change to get the tush-push outlawed in the National Football League.
04:34We'll see.
04:34We're not sure if the vote is happening as we speak, if it will happen at some point this afternoon, if it even happens tomorrow at the owner meetings in Minneapolis.
04:43We expect there to be some sort of resolution, Joe, at a point in the next 48 hours.
