Dan Orlovsky talks Ben Johnson and Caleb Williams and the knowledge that may be passed down
Transcript
00:00what will ben johnson give him that these other guys didn't because you're you're a detroit guy
00:04you played a lot with the line you're familiar with ben johnson i i mean i think he's going to
00:11give him uh an understanding of what the defense is doing why it's doing it and how you're going
00:19to counter that defensive you know set and a much greater understanding you've probably heard you
00:26heard me say this every play the defense gives you a problem and an opportunity depending on what
00:31your play call is you know and sometimes you get to line of scrimmage gary kubiak used to teach me
00:35this like sometimes the bear wins you get to line of scrimmage and they got a better play call than
00:40you like you got a good play call on they just have a better play call than you versus your play
00:45call and so what's what's what's the problem how do we answer that problem what's the opportunity so i
00:50think just a you i always say this like there's such a difference as a quarterback to call from
00:57from being in an offense that calls plays to being in an offense that calls games and when you are
01:07i'm sure many times last year chicago probably called good plays they're good plays but do they
01:13have answers do they have answers to what that defense and so i think just giving a greater
01:17kind of informational bank that he can always tap into of all right i got weak side run called here
01:25i break the huddle and i immediately see the three texts to the weak side that's probably not where we
01:31want to run the ball so how can we change our play or oh i i i got weak side run called and man my
01:39will linebackers kicked all the way over to you know almost the strong side what does that mean like
01:45what's the okay great and i'm studying tape and okay every time every time on first down that this
01:54defensive tackles in a bubble or a shade and it's an underfront they're bringing pressure you know so
02:00like that's that's how you study tape you're trying to get tells you're trying to get information you're
02:06trying to get tendencies so um i think ben will give them a much greater understanding of that
