Convicted serial killer Dr. Devendra Sharma, who murdered taxi drivers and dumped their bodies in UP’s Hazara canal, was caught in Rajasthan after nearly two years on the run.

00:00This serial killer known as Dr. Death has reportedly killed 21 taxi drivers.
00:04Between 2002 and 2004, Dr. Devendra Sharma would hire taxis from Delhi,
00:08abduct the drivers, murder them and dump their bodies in the crocodile-filled Hazara Canal
00:12in Kaasganch, Uttar Pradesh. He would then sell the taxis for Rs 20,000 to Rs 25,000.
00:17The police were able to recover seven bodies and Sharma was convicted and sentenced to life
00:21imprisonment. Sharma was granted a two-month parole in June 2023 and was due to surrender
00:26in August 2023 but he didn't return. According to the police, Sharma was hiding in Rajasthan's
00:31Dosa district, living under a false identity as a priest in a local ashram. To track him down,
00:35police launched a search operation. A team stayed in Dosa district for several days,
00:40posing as disciples. Once the police confirmed his identity,
00:43he was arrested on May 19, 2025. Sharma has confessed to the crimes.
