Army doctor delivers baby at Jhansi Station with just hair clips and pocket knife

A pregnant woman went into sudden labour at Jhansi railway station — and Major Rohit Bachwala sprang into action.

00:11That's Major Rohit Bachwala who was waiting for his train at Jhasi Station when he

00:15I'd seen one lady who had come out of the lift in a wheelchair shouting with a pain.

00:21Moments earlier, a pregnant passenger on the Panvel Gorakhpur Express had gone into sudden labor.

00:26Her husband had sent an SOS via the Reel app which alerted the Jhasi Railway control room.

00:32As the train pulled in, medical staff and railway personnel held the woman off but her condition

00:36worsened near the lift on the footover bridge. That's when Major Rohit, an army doctor posted

00:41at Jhasi Military Hospital, stepped in.

00:43At that point of time, I realized that she cannot be evacuated from that point.

00:49So, I had planned that I would deliver her right away at that same place.

00:54Despite being on leave and en route to Hyderabad to see family, he took charge and helped deliver

00:58the baby with only the most basic resources.

01:01The baby was not responsive during the first.

01:04But Rohit successfully resuscitated the infant. Both the mother and baby were later taken to
