00:00Mr. Rusty was having trouble with his roundabout and a high wind, which had made repairs necessary.

00:30But at the same time, very difficult to carry out.

00:35Florence wondered what the matter was.

00:38It's this wind, shouted Mr. Rusty.

00:42Nearly blown the roof off the roundabout.

00:44I'm trying to mend it.

00:47Oh, do be careful, said Florence.

00:51Zebedee arrived.

00:53High wind, he said.

00:55Yes, said Florence.

00:58I'd have difficulty keeping my feet if I had any, said Zebedee.

01:02Better go and look into it.

01:04Yes, all right, said Florence.

01:11Dougal was having trouble too.

01:13Hello, Dougal, said Florence.

01:16I washed my hair last night, said Dougal.

01:19And now look at it.

01:20Just look at it.

01:21Ruined.

01:24Wind's playing havoc with my tulips, said Mr. McHenry.

01:27Oh, bad luck, said Florence.

01:34Mr. McHenry tested the direction of the wind.

01:40Then go and stop it, said Dougal.

01:49Well, I can try, said Mr. McHenry.

01:53I'd be eternally grateful, said Dougal, because if this goes on much longer, I'll have to

01:58put on an extra vest, not to mention what it's doing to my well-known and lovely locks.

02:03Oh, I feel so humiliated, humiliated.

02:10Mr. McHenry told them not to worry.

02:12He'd found the trouble.

02:16It was a weathervane new to the job, and a little uncertain of its duties.

02:33Try and get it right, said Mr. McHenry.

02:41Yes, try and get it right, said Dougal.

02:44I'm sure it's doing its best, said Florence.

02:47Well, that's as maybe, said Dougal.

02:50But what about my hair?

02:53The weathervane tried and tried to control the wind.

02:57It's no good, it said.

02:59I'm a failure.

03:02No, don't say that, said Florence.

03:04Yes, you can say that, said Dougal.

03:06As a weathervane, you are a hopeless failure.

03:10You should take more lessons.

03:13Well, I'm very new at it, you see, said the weathervane.

03:16And as I look a bit like a chimney, the winds won't take any notice of me.

03:21It's all very, very trying.

03:26But I am doing my best.

03:28Florence felt very sorry for it.

03:35You see, I might order a nice south wind to blow, said the weathervane.

03:40But it'll just laugh at me and go off to Africa or somewhere.

03:45Well, it's not in Africa now, said Dougal.

03:50The weathervane lost control completely.

03:59What can we do, said Florence?

04:02I'll get better at it, said the weathervane.

04:04I'm sure I will.

04:05Well, you could hardly be worse, said Dougal.

04:09Florence decided the weathervane should have a prize for effort, at least.

04:13Thank you, said the weathervane.

04:15I know I'll improve.

04:17We're sure you will, said Florence.

04:20We're absolutely sure.

04:23Speak for yourself, smarty boots, said Dougal.

04:26Have a word with Bert Ford.

04:28He's got problems, too.

04:30Who's Bert Ford, said Florence?

04:32Oh, don't you know anything, said Dougal.

04:35I'll keep trying, said the weathervane.
