03:49the importance of taking care of our nature,
03:51and the importance of knowing that climate change is happening.

08:57So, I was enrolled in Instituto Cervantes.
08:59I took Spanish for six months.
09:01And, pagdating ako doon, sa Bolivia, as in lahat Spanish.
09:05Spanish with the mentors, Spanish with the handlers, with the organization.
09:10So, the only people that could really help me were the girls that could speak English.
09:13Okay.
09:13So, nag-translate sila para sa akin.
09:15Ganun, tita boy.
09:16Tapos, Reina...
09:16So, what was your question?
09:18And, how did you answer it?
09:19Oh, my question was, if there was one value that you could choose to help better society,
09:26what would this be and why?

09:29I answered in English.

09:32They are very inclusive when it comes to countries that cannot speak Spanish because they want
09:36to help, you know, really share the culture with everybody.

09:42As long as you try and you are open to sharing the tradition, sharing the culture that they
09:47have to the rest of the world, which is what I do now.

09:53It was completely different than Miss Universe Philippines knowing the fact that the advocacy
09:59is a bit different.
10:00The pageant, the background, where I'm competing.
10:03Though, I still have my Q&A coach.

10:05And, I think it's just the same routine because before I joined pageant pa dati, I knew I was
10:10going to join a pageant.
10:11So, when I was 12 years old, I made sure that I watched every news that I can watch and read
10:15every book that I can read so that one day, when I'm preparing for the pageant, I'm not
10:19only preparing just for that specific competition, but I've been preparing for this my whole life.
10:24So, it comes off naturally na lang talaga.

10:26It's really about life.
10:28You know, but there's a story.
10:29And, I'd like to share this story with you.
10:31Three hours before the pageant, nag-text sa akin, si Alexi.
10:34Because I had a couple of sessions with Alexi.
10:37With about three short sessions on Q&A.
10:39But, she has a coach.

10:42Ito yung mga pag-uusap lamang.
10:43Same thing I did for Katya Yona Gray and Pia Wordsback.
10:47I did sessions with them.
10:48So, three hours before the contest, nag-text siya.

11:36Ako naman, when I was diagnosed with lupus, po, I was 16 years old.
11:39And, hindi ko alam kung ano nangyari sa katawan ko.
11:41I was facing joint pains, hair loss, uneven skin tone.
11:47Sobrang fatig din ako dahil sa stress.
11:49And, I didn't know what it was.
11:51I went to the doctor and said, oh, you have lupus.
11:54And, at the time, I didn't understand.
11:57Because, at the time, they also said, hindi curable.
12:01It's not a curable disease.
12:02Hindi siya lang katamot.
12:02Yes.
12:03So, but, what you can do is just make sure that you take care of your health.
12:07Exercise.
12:08Make sure to not eat inflammatory foods.
12:10And, try to stay out of the sun.
12:12And, don't be stressed.

12:14And, it's a lot to go through talaga.
12:15Kasi, as I get older, of course, I can't escape stress.
12:19I can't escape going under the sun.
12:21And, I'm the type of person that talaga, tagbabad talaga ako sa araw.

12:25So, it's a matter of really making sure that I take the steps that will keep me healthy.
12:31And, I believe talaga, it's an illness that doesn't define who I am.

12:46Because, I didn't want people to attach that sickness to me or that disease to me.

12:52I'm someone who's athletic, I'm someone who's a beauty queen, I'm a singer, I dance a lot, I exercise a lot.
12:58I do a lot of the things that people would, people who think lupus can't.
13:01But, that also realizing that by talking about it, ang dami mong natutulungan.

13:07From lupus, you know, you were bullied.
13:09Growing up, yes.
13:10As in talagang intense, extreme bullying.
13:14Like, physical, emotional, psychological bullying.
13:17I remember back in the days that, pauwi akong bahay na tinatapunan ako ng bato.
13:21Na sometimes, I would go home bleeding pa.
13:23And then, I would see my grandma.
13:24And of course, you tell me the same thing, that never give them back the same pain.
13:27So, all throughout my life, I went through so much pain that, at least in a very young age,
13:31I realized that, if I'm going through pain, might as well get something from it.
13:35So, that's when I transformed pain talaga into power, tito.
13:38There's no option.
13:39I mean, I keep saying, if you hit the rock bottom, there's only one way to go and it's going up.
13:43So, basically, I used that pain and turned it to the woman that I am right now.
13:47Can you imagine if you girls do these conversations and what we can learn from you?
