A new report has found business leaders have responded positively to a controversial workplace law that limits contact with workers outside official hours, which was introduced last year.

00:00The right to disconnect law came into effect eight months ago for businesses that employ
00:0815 or more people.
00:10It gives workers the right not to respond to employers' after-hours communication unless
00:17that's deemed unreasonable.
00:20New research from the Australian HR Institute surveying more than 600 employers has found
00:28that 58% of employers say the new law has improved employer engagement and productivity.
00:36It also found 37% of workers had a reduction in stress.
00:40Now there hasn't been a single application under this law to the Fair Work Commission,
00:46despite warnings from employer groups that the law had potential to cause chaos and disruption
00:52in Australian workplaces.
00:54The Australian industry group says what's happened is that employers and employees
00:59are essentially working it out for themselves instead of heading to court at this point.
01:05The survey also found the law had improved work-life balance among staff and just 3% had recorded
01:12a negative change.
01:13The right to disconnect law will also apply to small businesses from August.
01:18And they'll get interested a few, so they've received a big change.
01:20So that's not that important for all of your employees is the most important part.
01:24The reason for a report is that we have the minimum of staff and the lowest of our employees
01:27in terms of what's happening is we have the number two employees to do in terms of
01:30the depth of our folk, which is information that we have the number two employees
01:32that we have their number to offer for themselves.
01:34You gotta be interested in research, which is it, the easiest way we have to spend our
01:41size and our teachers in our teachers and our teachers.
