00:00One of the most iconic Y2K Nickelodeon series, The Amanda Show is now marred in controversy.
00:07The set would not feel the same when he would leave because, you know, I think everybody was
00:13on their toes, scared. Welcome to Ms. Mojo. And today we're catching up with the cast to track
00:20how scandals have upended so many of their careers. Amanda Bynes arrested, hauled out of
00:25her Midtown Manhattan apartment. I just wonder how low is the bottom?
00:32Amanda Bynes. The Amanda Bynes we know today is practically unrecognizable compared to the
00:38young girl who headlined the hit Nickelodeon show over two decades ago.
00:42My name's Amanda and welcome to my show!
00:47However, her transformation from It Girl to tabloid punching bag can only be regarded as
00:53a cautionary tale of child stardom. Bynes proved to be one of the most promising young actors
00:59in Hollywood through performances as memorable Amanda Show characters like Judge Trudy,
01:05Silence!
01:06Penelope Taint,
01:07I'm Amanda's number one fan, please!
01:10and Courtney.
01:11Maha!
01:12She scored several big roles in films like She's the Man and Hairspray.
01:17Olivia. It's Olivia, right?
01:19Yeah. I want to give you, um, just a little advice.
01:23Okay.
01:25Enough is enough!
01:26But in 2010, after filming EZA, her acting career came to an abrupt halt. By 2012, Bynes'
01:34Twitter page was full of increasingly bizarre rants, and she had a number of run-ins with the law.
01:40Speculation about her well-being drove demand for vicious media coverage.
01:44It looks like Amanda Bynes may be a schizophrenic.
01:47With paparazzi only intensifying the duress the young woman was under.
01:51Either way, Amanda, I wish you the best, Mom.
01:53Hey, for real.
01:55No, I really wish you the best.
01:57She was dropped by her publicist, agent, and lawyer, all before being placed in a conservatorship
02:03to address her substance use and spiraling mental health.
02:062018 was supposed to be the year of the comeback for the star, who'd suffered an intimately public
02:12breakdown all too common to child stars. Bynes was dolled up for a paper mag interview,
02:18but it was obvious to fans that something still wasn't totally healed within her.
02:22Do you miss acting?
02:24I do miss acting, and I actually have something surprising to tell you.
02:27I'm going to start acting again.
02:29Yes!
02:29She spoke out about body image issues that developed as a result of her time in front
02:34of the camera.
02:34Whenever I see a paparazzi photo, the majority of the time, I look nothing like myself.
02:39I'm talking 16 chins, face looks completely different, and it's an all-around terrifying
02:46experience to look myself up online, quite honestly.
02:48Like, I'm about to cry just thinking about it.
02:50She was placed on psychiatric hold as recently as 2023.
02:55She actually waved someone down and told them she was going through a psychiatric episode.
03:01I think that was probably obvious to whomever she waved down, because she was completely naked.
03:06Recently, Bynes has popped up on a number of different social media pages to introduce
03:11a new style.
03:12As to why I have a new look, I feel a lot better now about myself, and I'm so glad I had the
03:18blood throplasty surgery.
03:19It was one of the greatest things I could have ever done.
03:22Since re-emerging, Bynes has launched a podcast, produced a pop-up art show, and even created
03:28an OnlyFans intended to share personal content rather than salacious material.
03:34Unsurprisingly, many have been quite harsh regarding Bynes' metamorphosis, but true fans
03:39routinely come through to encourage her in all these ambitious journeys.
03:44We're out here supporting our girl, Amanda.
03:46She's finding some hat here for some fan.
03:47There you go.
03:49Only now has the narrative shifted from hot mess to victim of the press, public, and predatory
03:54industries.
03:56I think I like this little life.
03:59Can I say I love you, Amanda?
04:01While Bynes didn't appear in the 2024 documentary Quiet on Set, it was heavily implied by co-stars
04:07that she could have been inappropriately mistreated by adults behind the scenes.
04:12Dan Schneider was very responsible for Amanda Bynes' career at that point, and they were very
04:17tied to each other, and I think she trusted him.
04:20There were many times that I saw Amanda sitting behind him, hugging him, or giving him like
04:28a neck massage or whatever.
04:29Bynes didn't comment on the series or the allegations, instead choosing to focus on herself, a move
04:35no one can blame her for Drake Bell.
04:38A prominent figure in the Quiet on Set documentary, Bell's interview became a major focal point of the expose.
04:45Interestingly, because of his status as both the abused and the abuser.
04:51Is this my fault?
04:53Why did this happen to me?
04:55What was taken away from me?
04:58Am I going to be desired?
05:00And this tragic story can be traced back to the Amanda show.
05:03Apart from Bynes herself, Bell made the most appearances in the series.
05:07He's remembered mostly for his character acting, like Totally Kyle, Enos, and Tony Pajamas.
05:22Bell's chemistry with co-star Josh Peck even earned the duo a successful spinoff, Drake and
05:28Josh, which lasted four seasons.
05:30He scored a number of roles in both film and TV, but bookings began to slow down in roughly 2018.
05:44Like Bynes, Bell found himself in legal trouble when a 2021 child endangerment case was brought
05:50against him.
05:51He pleaded guilty and served probation, but spoke out that he took a plea deal because he,
05:56quote,
05:56In Quiet On Set, Bell relives his harrowing experiences when the cameras weren't rolling,
06:15pointing the finger at dialogue coach Brian Peck for repeatedly assaulting him.
06:20He had pretty much worked his way into every aspect of my life.
06:25He also opens up about seeking help for substance abuse.
06:29There was definitely a slow decline in my mental health and sobriety.
06:35I mean, DUIs.
06:37I was lost.
06:40Bell recalls the publicity being a, quote,
06:42Rollercoaster experience and received a mixed but mostly positive reception.
06:48Today, he's taking time out of the spotlight to continue to clean up his image and reflect.
06:52He's a father to one and released a new album in 2024.
07:01In March of 2025, he appeared on Josh Peck's Good Guys podcast to discuss their history as
07:07friends and actors.
07:09Like, our timing?
07:10Like, that's what, that's the magic that, like, people don't get.
07:14It's like, oh, just put these two, put, put two guys together and they'll be funny or whatever.
07:18And it was like, those, wow, am I getting, am I tearing up right now?
07:21I know, I am too kind.
07:22Uh-oh.
07:23It was their first time reuniting since the Bombshell documentary.
07:27At 14, I remember going, this relationship's inappropriate.
07:30Yeah.
07:30Josh Peck.
07:31Fortunately, Peck managed to dodge a lot of the turmoil and public meltdowns that come
07:37with child stardom.
07:38He's been sober since 2008 and married his longtime girlfriend in 2017.
07:44This is what you do when you're really in love.
07:45You get married and then you drive your bride to In-N-Out and you get grilled cheese.
07:49The pair has two kids with a third on the way.
07:52Peck did snub Belle on the wedding invite and their tension made for some small headlines.
07:57He explained that the two had fallen out of contact and Peck's lengthy filmography could
08:02be partially to blame.
08:04I knew that Drake and I didn't stay in touch for the 10 years since we had made the show.
08:09So I didn't invite him to my wedding because I hadn't really talked to him in many, many years.
08:13While he mostly played beside Belle throughout his early career, including The Amanda Show,
08:18he'd go on to establish himself as a formidable star.
08:22Could we have asked for a better day, ladies?
08:24Oh, shit.
08:26Emory the Optimist, eh?
08:27Ah, you live in paradise.
08:29Every day's a gift, right?
08:30Peck recently landed a role in the epic summer blockbuster Oppenheimer and will return as
08:35the voice of Eddie in the 2026 film Ice Age 6.
08:39Crash and Eddie reporting for duty.
08:42What?
08:42After making a number of appearances in David Dobrik's Vlog Squad, he splintered off to
08:47embellish his own social media presence.
08:50Today, he helms a number of podcasts and released a memoir in 2022.
08:56Raquel Lee
08:56Peck was actually the replacement for Lee, who was removed from The Amanda Show after
09:02the first season.
09:03In a number of social media posts, Lee describes the heartbreak of being relegated to a guest
09:08appearance spot before being terminated.
09:10That TV show is actually the show that changed the complete trajectory of my life because I want to say that that was the first heartbreak that I actually experienced as an actress, as a child actress.
09:23She did participate in Quiet on Set.
09:26However, she's since blasted the production team for failing to invite her to a follow-up panel
09:31in L.A.
09:32Quiet on Set.
09:33They did the same thing that the industry always does.
09:37They get what they want from you and then they're done.
09:40Never did they think that I would want to be at a discussion like that or a part of a discussion
09:46like that.
09:46Like, really?
09:47She recalls feeling used and was never fully briefed on what the docuseries was even about.
09:53The entire ordeal left such a bad taste in her mouth that she went public to declare she'd
09:58be quitting the industry.
09:59I can't do it anymore.
10:01I've given it all I can.
10:03I don't have nothing else.
10:04The show, I don't want to talk about it.
10:06I'm going to get back to my family, my businesses.
10:09That's what I'm focused on because this industry, y'all can have it.
10:12After the Amanda show, she landed a few small roles, mostly regarded for her voice acting
10:18in The Proud Family, which was the first animated Disney Channel show to center around
10:23black characters.
10:24All we have to do is pull this lever and La Cienega's cheerleading career will be live
10:28history.
10:30Given that she's since departed from the acting world, Lee is now focused on her family and
10:34her businesses, which includes the recent launch of a haircare line.
10:38Matisse Naturat is more than a brand.
10:41It's a movement for a new generation of curls.
10:45Nancy Sullivan.
10:47Billed as a main cast member in season one and then recurring in later seasons, Sullivan
10:52often portrayed motherly figures in The Amanda Show sketches.
10:56Bye, sweetie.
10:57I'm home from the supermarket.
10:58She went on to play Belle's mother in Drake and Josh, sharing the spotlight with him for
11:06many years.
11:07Megan, did you help the boys with the baby?
11:09In light of Belle's allegations against Brian Peck, Sullivan has voiced support for the actor
11:14on her social media pages.
11:16While she's had several minor roles since filming those hit series, Sullivan has been dedicating
11:21most of her time as a vocal coach and animation teacher.

11:41John Kassir.
11:42Another top-billed star in the first season, Kassir was similarly cast as a fatherly figure
11:48on The Amanda Show.
11:49This is better!
11:50Much better!
11:52Oh yeah?
11:52He exited after the first season, with the series serving as only a small blip on his
11:58mammoth filmography.
11:59By far the most decorated of all The Amanda Show's main cast, Kassir has a handful of other
12:05live-action performances under his belt, plus some theater cred.
12:08But he's largely made his name as a voice actor, and his most well-known role might surprise
12:14you.
12:14It's me, the cred keeper!
12:18With another flesh-creeping scream story for your shivering pleasure.
12:23In 2016, he voiced the dragon in the Disney live-action remake, Pete's Dragon.
12:31Additionally, he's provided the vocal effects for a number of big films like The Grinch,
12:36The Smurfs, and The Secret Life of Pets.
12:39Sound the alarm, crazy!
12:42You might also remember him as Ray Rocket in the smash hit Nicktoon Rocket Power.
12:48Do you mean what I think you mean?
12:49We sure do, Dad!
12:51In that case, hold on to your seatbelts!
12:54It's barbecue city, baby!
12:56Today, a quick gander at Kassir's social media pages proves his affinity for the Crypt Keeper,
13:02as the character is firmly cemented as a legend of horror history.
13:05It's your old pal, John Kassir, the voice of the Crypt Keeper!
13:14Kassir's still taking small roles in a number of projects, so his impressive career shows no signs of slowing down.
13:21For such a beloved children's show, it's a shame the legacy of The Amanda Show has become so dark.
13:26While it created so many lasting memories for 90s kids, it's also tainted by the derailment of a number of careers.
13:34For me, looking back at The Amanda Show is really a kind of sad and strange experience.
13:39Knowing that as years went on, Amanda and Dan's relationship would take a turn for the worse.
13:44Today, the final word belongs to the victims of the set's dark truths.
13:49And with that, courts dismissed.
13:51Bring in the dancing lobsters!
