00:00Things to embrace or avoid. Well, don't, don't fart, fight about, I almost said fart about.
00:08You did say fart about.
00:09Don't fart about things.
00:18No, I'm steady by the book. I probably should question things more, but I'm just kind of like,
00:26have you ever seen a horse that's yoked to, to a plow like that? Just pulling, just pulling.
00:33I mean, yeah, no, I have, I have, yeah, several times, but I mean, like, like, like, hey, I think
00:41I can be a better person than this. And, you know, work, work towards it. Sometimes you get there and
00:48sometimes you don't. Not like, you know, I've never murdered anybody. What did he say? It's weird that
00:54you would offer that up. It's weird that it feels like weird that you would say, okay, whatever.
00:59You're saying that that's proof that I probably have murdered someone.
01:02It's a real thing to tell that you've murdered someone.
01:05I've probably never murdered someone.
01:09Well, um, I think, uh, you know, I love the original film so much and wanted to get to kind
01:16of expand time with these characters and especially the character, Anne, who kind of understandably
01:22falls away a little bit in the film. And I just really think the great thing about TV
01:28and why TV is currently greater than movies is this length of eight episodes. It's just
01:34a wonderful amount of time to get to take your time and, and let people grow, let characters
01:39grow a little bit and, um, and tell stories fully. I kind of think if you look at like the
01:45best TV of the year this year, if you're looking at Severance and White Lotus and, and stuff
01:50and you, I feel like that stuff is better than, um, movies.
01:56You'd be missing out on so much stuff if they had to pack it all into 45 minutes.
02:02I know Erica Henningsen for a long time because she was the original Katie in Mean Girls Broadway
02:06and she also was on Girls 5 Eva where she played young Paul LaPelle, this character in
02:10Girls 5 Eva. And, but you, you, I mean, you met Erica for the first time.
02:13My first time meeting her.
02:14She is a delight.
02:16She's a delight.
02:17She is such a cool person. No notes.
02:21Hmm. I, what do you think?
02:24I mean, I think that, uh, first of all, just the writing is fantastic. So like that, that
02:30makes your job really easy, but, but we just had a really good open dialogue about, you
02:35know, just run, running stuff by each other that, you know.
02:39I do. Yeah. And I think sometimes you can't really predict, but I do think we just have
02:44an ease with each other. I do feel like for whatever reason, it's feels plausible. And
02:49I guess if Kate is oftentimes pretty grouchy and maybe a little bit mean to Jack and you
02:56have to have someone that you can like, that it's a pleasure to see me be mean to you.
03:01Yeah.
03:02And I think that's what happened.
03:03I'm good at being put upon because I'm, I practiced it all my life.
03:08You know, I'm not bitter about it. I'm not.
03:12Oh.
03:14Working on the show for me, it did solidify that so much of being married and staying
03:19married is also having a great group of friends because it's, you can't sort of put the pressure
03:26on your partner to be every single thing to you at every moment. And sometimes there's
03:31a thing in the winter episodes where like your character is really stressed about your dad's
03:36basement and we're like fighting about like, you want to keep all this like old stuff. And
03:40then when the other friends kind of tease us about it, it just kind of lightens, you know,
03:46sometimes you're like arguing with your spouse about something. And then when your other friends
03:49kind of make jokes about it, you remember like, oh yeah, this is ridiculous. Like you kind
03:52of let go of what you were grouchy about.
03:55You know, going through these scripts and the different scenarios we'd be in, it was comforting
04:01because, you know, I love my wife and it's a, but you know, every once in a while, you'll
04:07go through a weird time and, and reading about some, it's like some of these scenarios felt
04:14familiar at times. And you're like, oh, if there was some kind of comfort in knowing that,
04:19oh, this is a universal thing that people go through sometimes, you know, like, like we were
04:24talking about earlier with how our, um, work relationship was, uh, it's the same key. Just
04:30having an open dialogue constantly going, uh, is, is the key to having a good relationship.
04:36Did that answer, did that answer the question?
04:38I think so.
04:39Okay. It was words.
04:41Things to embrace or avoid. Well, don't, don't fart, fight about, I almost said fart about.
04:49You did say fart about.
04:50Don't fart about things. Don't fart about things.
04:53Don't hold in the farts though, either. You get a problem if you hold in too many farts.
04:57But I say do hold in the farts.
04:59Okay.
04:59Lying. Don't lie about stuff ever.
05:02Yeah. People who have a lot of people who used to be their best friends that they don't
05:08talk to anymore.
05:09Hmm.
05:10I can, you can excuse maybe one.
05:14Yeah.
05:14But then when it's like two or three of their closest friends, they don't talk to anymore.
05:18I start to go, what's happening there?
05:20Also, if they're, if they're currently married to someone else, red fly.
05:23Blood under their fingernails.
05:26I think so. I feel like, um, I feel like you lose some of your fear of failure in a way
05:31because you inevitably eat shit on Saturday Night Live.
05:34Oh, yeah.
05:35Sorry. Can you bleep that?
05:36Oh, yeah.
05:37Like, you know, you just, yeah, you always, you, you survive like having something go badly.
05:42So you kind of like, oh, well.
05:44It's not a self-esteem problem. I think they're all pretty pleased with themselves.
05:47Yes.
05:48And that goes for every step of the way, you know, being at the Groundlings.
05:53Yep.
05:53You know, that sets you up for getting used to failure on the SNL stage, which gets you
05:58set, you know, it's like every step of the way is preparing me for the next.
06:03Failing at a higher and higher level.
06:05Oh, I think, uh, I think Will should do it.
06:08I'm going to do it again.
06:09Will's going to do it.
06:10I'm excited.
06:11I'll take this one.
06:12We're no way.
06:14We, we refuse.
06:15No, we don't know.
06:16We have no idea.
06:17We'll see.
06:18We'll see if people like it.
06:18It would be to get to work with this collection of people again would be a dream.
06:24I mean, the first one was, it's pinched me.
06:26It was the best experience.
06:28It did.
