Lancashire Police and Crime Commissioner Clive Grunshaw with an update on the one-year anniversary of his election
Transcript
00:00Hi, Brunshaw Police and Crown Commissioner for Lancashire. 12 months now since being re-elected,
00:07absolute privilege to be back in the role. When I was first Police and Crown Commissioner
00:15it was a difficult challenge, a challenge that was where we was inhibited by
00:20austerity, the cuts to policing and not really able to deliver the service in the wayward we would
00:31like. Now, of course, it's a different world. We are putting more resources back in. The last 12 months
00:41I've also had a Labour government to work with. We are working on delivering the priorities of the
00:49government, but also a highlight this year has been producing the new Police and Crime Plan.
00:58The plan for the next five years, which is about tackling violence against women and girls,
01:07preventing antisocial behaviour, being tough on serious crime and importantly, rebuilding trust
01:17and confidence in policing from the community. It isn't easy. We haven't got enough resources,
01:27but we are far better now than we have been, you know, for the last few years.
01:33Again, you know, the focus is on neighbourhood and delighted to have secured 1.7 million to put in
01:43an additional 100 plus officers back into that neighbourhood policing team. And that is where you
01:51really do make a difference building the trust and confidence and delivering the services and delivering
01:58these priorities. We've made real progress, but clearly there's so much more to do. And I think
02:09together, if we pull together, support each other in Lancashire, we can absolutely make sure
02:17ensure that we can deliver safety, security through strength.
