00:00Monday, OK. Let's move on now, shall we, to the Kilmarnock versus Hearts match, the Derek
00:06McInnes starby, if you like. All the off-field intrigue, well-documented commentary comes
00:12from Andrew Petrie.
00:15Welcome to Del Classico, that's what some are calling it, but the elephant in the room
00:20is that the man in question is nowhere to be seen. McInnes is seemingly on his way to
00:25Hearts, but he's not in the dugout for Kilmarnock today. Chris Burke is the Kille caretaker
00:31for the time being.
00:34He makes three changes from Derek McInnes' final game as Kille manager, a 3-0 loss to
00:39Motherwell midweek. Robbie McCrory is back in goals with Brad Lyons starting at right back,
00:44Bobby Wales is up top.
00:46There's three changes for the visitors who welcome back Xander Clark in goals, Stephen Kingsley
00:51partners Frankie Kent at the back, Callum Neuvenhoff also comes in, replacing the
00:55outgoing George Grant in midfield.
01:08Kingsley up against Kyle Vassell. It's gone the way of the Hearts man, who's striding forward,
01:14unchallenged. He goes for goal!
01:17Fairly caught hold of that Stephen Kingsley, but it flies over the bar.
01:22He's not scored since December 2023, as Chris Burke watches on with assistant Craig Clark.
01:36Forrester trying to get that down the line to Forrest, comes back to Benny Beningame.
01:41Forrest, the former Air United man, Jinking, inside.
01:48Mill deputising for James Penry still.
01:52Here's Devlin from distance now.
01:55That one trundles past the post.
01:59The opening exchanges have certainly had the feel of an end-of-season game, that's for sure.
02:03The sun shines down on Rugby Park, both of these sides, perhaps on the beach, nice and early.
02:15Liam Fox watching on.
02:17He will not stay at Hearts next season.
02:19That's been announced.
02:22The caretaker manager leaving the club he's been affiliated with for a long time.
02:26Meanwhile, here it come, Kilmarnock, Fraser Murray.
02:32Jinking on to the right, and it's blocked.
02:34Close range by Benny Beningame.
02:36Danny Armstrong blasts.
02:39And that's over the bar as well.
02:43Armstrong, who has, of course, been linked to Hearts.
02:48That's what he thought of that.
02:49Decent turn from Kyle Vassell.
02:54The Kelly captain.
02:56Only just back to fitness.
02:59They're looking to end their season on a high.
03:05Well, this is a problem for Hearts.
03:07Sander Clark is not happy about something.
03:10He has missed the last couple of weeks with injury.
03:13It looks like Ryan Fulton, who's started the last two,
03:17is going to replace the Hearts keeper.
03:18Of course, no Craig Gordon.
03:23He's still out with a shoulder injury.
03:25His contract expiring in the summer as well.
03:37Beningame coming forward for Hearts.
03:42It's a strange fact.
03:43They've not won on the last day of the season since 2004.
03:48In the top flight.
03:51As Forrest and Forrester combine.
03:54Shankland on the edge of the box.
03:56Back to Forrest.
03:59He goes for goal.
04:00Robbie McCrory gets it at the second attempt.
04:03There's a Hearts player scurrying after that.
04:05McCrory able to gather.
04:11Mill to Danda.
04:16Both sides still playing at a comfortable pace.
04:20But Ingemi forward to Danda.
04:21Trying to skip through a few challenges.
04:23He goes down.
04:24And it will be a Hearts free kick.
04:29As Dan McFarlane, the referee, waves the physios on.
04:32Stuart Finlay's taking a sore one there.
04:34Looks like Jan Danda has as well.
04:35David Watson, I think, is the man adjudged to have committed the foul.
04:41Dan McFarlane is going to go across to the screen here.
04:46I'll be honest, I'm not sure what for.
04:49Well, it could be that challenge there.
04:51Jan Danda catching Finlay on the calf with his studs.
04:56It's perhaps a little unfortunate.
04:58but he certainly does catch the Kilmarnock defender
05:04who has suffered an ankle injury already this season.
05:09And Dan McFarlane has seen enough.
05:12And he's going to his top pocket.
05:14And Jan Danda is off here.
05:16A red card at Rugby Park.
05:18And it's not for Kilmarnock.
05:20It is for Hearts.
05:21Jan Danda receiving his marching orders.
05:24His season coming to an end prematurely.
05:28I can't quite believe it.
05:30I don't think there's much malicious intent in that.
05:36Fraser Murray.
05:39Driving at Forrester.
05:40Goes on the outside and clips in.
05:42There's the header.
05:44And Bruce Anderson only just on the pitch.
05:47At halftime.
05:48And it's straight at Ryan Fulton.
05:50Easy enough for the former Hamilton Acquis keeper to gather.
05:58Chris Burke jotting down some notes in the second half.
06:05This side yet to press home their man advantage.
06:09This could be a chance.
06:10Fulton gives it away.
06:11Fraser Murray with the drive.
06:13And he slices that horribly, horribly wide.
06:17And Ryan Fulton far too casual there.
06:23And Frankie Kent couldn't control.
06:25Hearts almost playing themselves into a spot of bother.
06:30Big let off for the substitute keeper.
06:32Flicked inside.
06:42No free kick given.
06:44Hearts will come forward now.
06:45Shankland.
06:47Looks for Cammy Devlin.
06:50Alan Forrest making the run.
06:51He gets the ball now.
06:52Devlin in the box.
07:00He's worked the 1-2.
07:01This is a chance for Devlin.
07:02That's a brilliant save.
07:04Robbie McCrory.
07:06He doesn't score too many goals Cammy Devlin.
07:10A wry smile there.
07:11He knows that was a chance.
07:14And in fairness to him.
07:15It wasn't a bad effort.
07:19Slicing across the ball.
07:20Brilliant reflex save from Robbie McCrory.
07:23Only just back in the team.
07:27Frankie Kent taking the goal kick.
07:29As Ryan Fulton has picked up a knock.
07:31We'll hope that's not too serious.
07:33With Xander Clark already off the pitch.
07:37They've won a free kick here though.
07:39James Wilson unfairly fouled by Corian Daba.
07:42Forrester launched it towards the Kilmarnock box.
07:55Watkins taking his time to clear.
07:57And it's not the best clearance.
07:59The ball bubbling around.
08:00Kingsley with the shot.
08:02Stephen Kingsley with the goal.
08:06Hearts are ahead at Rugby Park.
08:08Well that goal certainly has an end of season feel about it.
08:16Dreadful Kilmarnock defending.
08:18And Stephen Kingsley can't quite believe his luck.
08:21That no home defender has gotten in the way of this.
08:26Almost invited to shoot in the box.
08:29Just cuts across the ball.
08:32And it's in off the post.
08:34A rare goal.
08:36For the Hearts defender.
08:38And it gives them the lead late on in Kilmarnock.
08:43Well there is going to be a check on this.
08:46Hearts season might not finish with a flourish just yet.
08:50Is there a handball in there from James Wilson.
08:52As he challenges with Fraser Murray.
08:57Looks pretty hard to tell to be honest.
08:59Kevin Clancy is the VAR.
09:05And the goal is given.
09:07Hearts season will end with a goal.
09:08And end with all three points.
09:11There's been a lot of success in the past four seasons.
09:14So we try and keep that.
09:16Maintain that level.
09:18There will be bumps in the road.
09:19So we could say that one of the positions in this season.
09:22We don't want to be in.
09:23We obviously want to aim for top six.
09:24For the manager's concerns.
09:26And how that looks.
09:27That's up to the board.
09:29How they decide.
09:30And what they are really, really looking for.
09:33And what sort of profile they are looking for.
09:35For the manager.
09:36They have got a great bunch of players in there.
09:38That are staying on.
09:39For the manager to come and step into.
09:41So that will help them hugely.
09:43So he has already got the culture in place.
09:45For sure.
09:46Listen.
09:46I am naturally disappointed to be leaving the football club.
09:49But I think.
09:49I speak to players all the time.
09:51You have got a choice of what you do.
09:52Off a disappointment.
09:53And I can choose to be angry.
09:56To be upset.
09:56To be.
09:57But I am not.
09:58I am choosing to be really, really positive.
10:00I am choosing to be really, really thankful for the opportunity.
10:02Really thankful for the learnings.
10:05And.
10:05This experience will make me a better coach.
10:08A better manager.
10:09A better person.
10:10So I am choosing to look at it that way.
10:12And hopefully working out with my head to all time.
10:13Liam Falks certainly signing off on a high four wins in a row for Hearts.
10:20Everybody expects Derek McInnes to take over.
10:22He wasn't in attendance today.
10:23Where do you think Derek McInnes was watching this today?
10:25On the golf course, I think.
10:27I think so.
10:27On the buggy.
10:29Probably.
10:29I don't know.
10:30Making the most of the beautiful weather before he gets in the Tynecastle hot seat.
10:34Don't really associate Jan Dander with red cards, Cammie.
10:39In fact, I think this might be his first ever red card.
10:43And we've been talking about it a lot, haven't we?
10:45Yeah.
10:46Listen, it's quite a difficult one to look at when you analyse it and look at it a number of times.
10:52Yeah.
10:52Listen, first and foremost, the referee actually gives Hearts a foul here.
10:55I think David Watson wins the ball.
10:57And then the problem is, it's the follow through from Jan Dander.
11:00I think that's a red card because of the straight leg and the motion that slightly goes towards Stuart Finlay's leg.
11:07The way that he catches him high, I think when the referee is asked to go and look at it, he's always going to give a red card.
11:12Don't really associate Jan Dander with such thuggish behaviour on the pitch, can't we care?
11:17But actually, you've got a kind of slightly different take on this.
11:20I mean, it does look bad, though, when the studs are that high up on the calf.
11:23Yeah.
11:24For me, it's not a red card.
11:25But obviously, it's a complete accident.
11:29For me, it's like if there's a head knock in the game and there's blood or whatever on it.
11:34It doesn't mean it's an instant red card.
11:36They've zoomed in on the slow motion to try and, I know, you say find something.
11:41He has went down his studs.
11:42I also think that it's the timing in which Stuart Finlay comes in at.
11:46It's just innocuous.
11:47And I actually feel so sorry for him because in my eyes, it's never ascending off.
11:52When you've got the studs up like that and it makes that connection, it can cause real damage, though, to the other player, obviously.
11:58Yeah.
11:58And that's all, again, is that part of the game that there's going to be contact?
12:03That's my opinion.
12:04I don't know if I'm wrong in saying that.
12:06But there's loads of things in the game.
12:08If we're stalked everything like that, there'd be so many sendings off.
12:11Listen, I think when the reason I'm saying it's a red card and I think it is a red card is this incident here.
12:17When you see it coming into him, look at his foot.
12:19His foot goes straight and goes straight into Stuart Finlay's leg.
12:22You see it's a straight leg and I think that straight leg motion means it's a red card.
12:27And again, that's a dangerous high challenge for me.
12:31Yes, it's unfortunate the way the plays played out and Stuart Finlay's came in at that time.
12:36But I do think that the straight leg makes it a red card.
12:39It did have a sort of sleepy end of season feel to it for most of this match, Cammie.
12:44Yeah, I suppose we should get on to the second most famous Kingsley in Scottish football, Stephen.
12:50He took it well and it did mean that, as I say, Hearts finished the season with a fourth straight victory.
12:56A bit of a slight controversy, but the right decision for the goal to stand?
13:00Definitely, yeah.
13:01There was a wee bit of talk about the handball, but I feel like it's a great finish from Kingsley.
13:06I'm not too sure about what you say when the ball drops.
13:09I think Watkins can clear that where he's left it.
13:11And even still, the clearance has got to get out of the box for me, but Kingsley's in a great position there.
13:18And do you know what? He's been a great servant for Hearts.
13:21I know he's been injured this season, but he's done great there.
13:24Quite relieved that that wasn't good.
13:26Yeah, absolutely. Listen, you can't actually definitively say whose arm that hits there.
13:29They're both challenging for the ball. That should just be left alone.
13:32And it was the referee's decision on the pitch was a goal, and I think that should just be left alone.
13:37And Derek McInnes, let's just sum up briefly.
13:39He is probably going to be the next Hearts manager.
13:42It'll probably get announced very soon.
13:44Big success at Tynecastle, do you think he'll be next season, Cammy?
13:47Yeah, I think he will be. I think they've made a good appointment.
13:50I think he'll get the sign-ins, hopefully, that he wants to bring in.
13:54As you showed at Kilmarnock, he's got a blend of great, talented players,
13:58but a real hard-working squad that he's always had.
14:00Probably not had the successes that they did last season for a number of reasons,
14:06probably the start with European football, getting used to that with the squad size and stuff.
14:10But I think he'll do a really good job in there.
14:12I think the Hearts fans will get right behind him, and it'll be a massive success.
14:16OK, the season is coming to a close, but plenty of action still to come.
