Srinagar (J&K), May 19, 2025 (ANI): An awareness program under the 8th UN Global Road Safety week 2025 was organised in the Srinagar’s Government College of Education on May 19, in which officers from Traffic, NGOs and other dignitaries highlighted the importance of road safety. They taught, how to protect pedestrians, protect lives, cycle smartly and cycle safely. People from different occupations participated in this programme, which includes students, civil society members, transport professionals, and government officials. The Chief Guest of the occasion was the Superintendent of Police, Traffic City Srinagar. Speakers at the seminar highlighted keynotes about road safety issues, including the need for improved pedestrian infrastructure, stricter enforcement of traffic regulations, and public engagement in promoting responsible road behavior. Following the seminar, a symbolic Walkathon was held, sending a strong message about community commitment towards safer roads in Srinagar. Participants carried placards and banners advocating road discipline, safe driving, and sustainable transportation. The road safety departments expressed gratitude to all partners, participants, and supporters for making the event a success and reaffirmed its commitment to continuing road safety advocacy and action in the Kashmir.
